Guided Missile Posted 16 November, 2014 Posted 16 November, 2014 dont call it a world cup. simple I vote for "Football World Series".
Gorgiesaint Posted 18 November, 2014 Posted 18 November, 2014 Well here's an interesting development http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30103293 FIFA lodges criminal complaint over world cup hosting... but I thought Sepp said that there was nothing wrong with the Russian or Qatari bids. New smokescreen or have they actually been forced to do something?

Hatch Posted 18 November, 2014 Posted 18 November, 2014 (edited) maybe it's not the Russian and Qatar bids they are reporting. Maybe it is the FA. Beckham is going to prison!! ha ha Edited 18 November, 2014 by Hatch
KingdomCome Posted 18 November, 2014 Posted 18 November, 2014 Sepp saying that to release the full report would breach "state law"...omitting to outline exactly what law would be breached.
Fowllyd Posted 18 November, 2014 Posted 18 November, 2014 Couple of interesting pieces from the Guardian here: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/nov/17/whistleblowers-complain-fifa-ethics-report http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/nov/17/i-was-traduced-by-judge-hans-joachim-eckert-fifa-world-cup-bid-report http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2014/nov/17/reform-fifa-delayed-sepp-blatter-goes Hard to disagree with the points made by Owen Gibson in the last of the three. Blatter has got himself very firmly ensconced, and it's quite easy to see him carrying on until he decides to go or pops his clogs while still in post.
Saintandy666 Posted 19 November, 2014 Posted 19 November, 2014 I had the pleasure (or perhaps not) of getting to meet Sepp Blatter last year. We got a good 30 minutes with the guy in a room of about 10 or so people plus him and his team, so enough to assess his style and this was after a talk by him as well. He was a proper slick politician in his style, but squirmed a reasonable amount under pressure. I pushed him on Qatari workers rights which he totally failed to address, and another guy pushed him on how the Fifa votes on Qatar and Russia can still stand when by his own admission there was corruption in FIFA at the time of the vote. Again, vague answers about what FIFA is supposedly doing now as opposed to what should have been done then and whether what did happen then should invalidate the present. For what it is worth, I admire the idea of taking the world cup to a new area, but I don't know how FIFA can be okay with a world cup being built on such open slavery and abuse.
hutch Posted 19 November, 2014 Posted 19 November, 2014 I'm getting fed up waiting to read this report. Can't we let Julian Assange out on parole, just for a couple of weeks?
Gemmel Posted 25 November, 2014 Posted 25 November, 2014 http://fortune.com/2014/11/25/sony-joins-emirates-in-ending-its-world-cup-sponsorhsip/ Interesting development
Batman Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 FIFA are going to vote on whether to make the 'report' public
