Fair play to the Scousers

Over on RAWK some very fair, balanced and sane comments from Liverpool fans.

Unlike many on here they really seem to believe Saints are in with a real shout of finishing top 4: in fact many believe we are nailed on to achieve this.

I certainly did not expect to see the day - especially after the summer - where they are concerned about catching us to even have a chance of qualifying top 4.

Amazing times!

Oh, and it doesn't hurt that they seem to all hate Lovren too!

Oh and for the article where the teeth whitening, fat losing, wife dropping posuer stated he had no sympathy, it makes glorious reading at the moment.

"Brendan Rodgers says he has no sympathy for Southampton, claiming they gave up their ambition to be a Champions League club and decided to cash in on their players.

Five players have left St Mary's this summer, with Rodgers signing three for Liverpool in Adam Lallana (for £25 million), Dejan Lovren (£20m) and Rickie Lambert (£4m).

"They have a choice as a club," Rodgers said of Liverpool's opponents on Sunday at Anfield. "They don't have to sell. You have a choice. Maybe Southampton's objectives have changed. They were looking to be a Champions League club, I believe. They obviously wanted to change. I suppose Liverpool have taken three players but Arsenal have taken a player [defender Calum Chambers for £16m], Manchester United have taken a player [England international Luke Shaw for £27m]. There might be one or two others who leave. It's just the way it works.

"We were after a certain type of player that fits the profile and the mould of the way we play. They played in a similar mould to us, so the players understand the pressing, the intensity and the possession so, I don't have sympathy, no.

"Don't get me wrong, Southampton is a great club. But so was Swansea [Rodgers' old club]. Swansea have produced a young player in Ben Davies and he's now gone to Tottenham. It's the nature of it. The players will want to compete at the highest level they possibly can.

"Luke Shaw was probably disappointed and sad to leave Southampton but he's gone to what he would deem to be a bigger club.

"The guys have come here because of the status of Liverpool and Champions League football. And it's hard to deny players that and that will always be the case; young talents coming through at clubs. The clubs will do the very best they can.

"I think lots of chairmen and directors and executives understand that. Now you know that, if it comes along, all they can do is maximise what they can get for the talent and look to invest to go again.

"When I was at Swansea and there were other clubs that had been longer in the Premier League and that first season when we got promoted wanted to take one or two of our players. I was able to convince one or two of our players to stay. And as a manager you know that. You fight hard against it but it's how football works."

Just had a look at the last two pages. There is a lot of partisan rubbish on there. We haven't played any of the top teams yet except LFC and Spurs. By my calculation we have lost to the 11th and 12th placed teams and drawn with the 13th. We've beaten 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th,14th, 15th, 18th and19th.

In their minds the top teams are 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 11th and 12th, well sorry boys there are no points for history. Apart from Chelsea and MC the other four are in a mess of their own making and worse still the rest of the Premier know it and are taking advantage of it.

I haven't a clue where we will finish but I'm sure I'm enjoying my team a lot more than those who thought buying our grossly overpriced and overrated players was the answer. What they missed was that those players were good within a team and support network but without the players covering their backs were nowhere near as good.
