trousers Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 First tweet in nearly 2 months.... Jay Rodriguez @JayRodriguez9 Hi Folks, tough few games for @SouthamptonFC but still looking good. I'm just starting to pick things up and restart the engine. Positive.
Turkish Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Reports over the weekend he wants to stay at saints and sign a new deal.
Saint Garrett Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Reports over the weekend he wants to stay at saints and sign a new deal. Says who? Great news if true....
doddisalegend Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Reports over the weekend he wants to stay at saints and sign a new deal. Please god let that be true. Personally figured he would be off at the first opportunity............... though maybe he has looked at how the summer leavers are doing and figures saints might not be so bad.
Hatch Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 We would have won last night if he was playing.

Sour Mash Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Is anyone on here ITK about players returning from comparable injuries? What are the most similar comparisons for other players returning and how they've come back? Out current team, with the option of a fully fit Rodriguez would be outstanding.
sadoldgit Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jay-rodriguez-aiming-january-return-4760058 I thought we have already offered him a new contract?
steveo Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Think you`ll find he is at least 2 months away from match fitness, maybe more.
Heisenberg Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Be good to get him back, will be like signing a new (great) player.
doddisalegend Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jay-rodriguez-aiming-january-return-4760058 Meh the mirror.........they ran an article a couple of days ago suggesting Jrod was off to spurs in Jan. Was hoping you were ITK.
VectisSaint Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Think you`ll find he is at least 2 months away from match fitness, maybe more. Back in January (probably end of January), as was always the case.
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Back in January (probably end of January), as was always the case. Just in time for our second cup rup then
VectisSaint Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Just in time for our second cup run then If we make it through to the 5th round. Hopefully.
Bucks Saint Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Could just squeak into the semi final 2nd leg too
Dalek2003 Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 Think you`ll find he is at least 2 months away from match fitness, maybe more. I would say so. I expect him to perhaps make appearances in March and not play full games until April...if all goes well
simo Posted 9 December, 2014 Posted 9 December, 2014 I thought we have already offered him a new contract? Who knows , maybe he told the club he wants to wait until his injury and make sure he can earn it ? He doesn't take me as a Billy big bollix he may not of wanted to sign a contract without knowing if he'll play again like he used too
trousers Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 From this afternoon's press conference..... Koeman on @JayRodriguez9: "He had to take a step back. It's not good to put a date on him - he needs time."
Saint_clark Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 Got the strangest feeling he'll never play again.
Pedro Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 Theo still not back to playing regularly and he's been out longer (I think)
Window Cleaner Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 Theo still not back to playing regularly and he's been out longer (I think) But he has played again, got 2 ten minute run outs for the Arse early november, got called up by England and hasn't been seen since, he'll go the way of Diaby.
Bucks Saint Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 No. Keep him until we know if he can repeat his top scorer record for us
Dalek2003 Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 Got the strangest feeling he'll never play again. I hope your wrong. I always maintained we would not see JayRod properly until April and nothing has happened to change my mind.
Sour Mash Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 From this afternoon's press conference..... Koeman on @JayRodriguez9: "He had to take a step back. It's not good to put a date on him - he needs time." just makes the idea of big bids coming in for him more mental.
Dark Munster Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 We need to buy a decent striker in the January window.
Smirking_Saint Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 Is anyone on here ITK about players returning from comparable injuries? What are the most similar comparisons for other players returning and how they've come back? Out current team, with the option of a fully fit Rodriguez would be outstanding. There are very much differing returns from ACL injuries, mentally they mess you up and it takes a while to get over them and generally they tend to cause you to lose a yard or so of pace. It all depends on the level of rehab, at top level you would expect him to get the best advice so its more likely that his return will show minimal reductions in his pre injury quality however there is always a chance it effects you. Holden, gazza, nistlerooy, bullard, all of which it caused adverse affects
doddisalegend Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 We need to buy a decent striker in the January window. Yep. If Jrod comes back the same player and wants to play for saints great but I don't think we should be holding off getting in better attacking options and relying on him to come back and fill the striker gap in our squad.
ART Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 Got the strangest feeling he'll never play again. And you have the cheek to say I'm nuts?
ART Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 We need to buy a decent striker in the January window. Well its been reported that Torres has told Milan today he wants to return to play in the Premier League. Get him on a short loan from Chelsea until JRod returns. If anyone can get him scoring again it's Koeman.
trousers Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 And you have the cheek to say I'm nuts? I've no idea where people get that impression of you from Art... Well its been reported that Torres has told Milan today he wants to return to play in the Premier League. Get him on a short loan from Chelsea until JRod returns. If anyone can get him scoring again it's Koeman. Oh....
ART Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 Torres will go out on loan for FREE!!!! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fernando-torres-set-offered-up-4793025

Dark Munster Posted 11 December, 2014 Posted 11 December, 2014 Torres knows where the back of the net is, and doesn't headbutt teammates (as far as I know). I would love it, love it, if we could sign him up for half a season. Wages? Pay him the same as our highest earners, plus a one-time "signing up" payment. Despite our recent slump, 4th isn't impossible, and this could make the difference.
Dig Dig Posted 12 December, 2014 Posted 12 December, 2014 Torres is finished, it doesn't look like he even likes football anymore. Such a shame as he used to be unstoppable.

Dark Munster Posted 12 December, 2014 Posted 12 December, 2014 Has he improved in Italy? Genuine question. If not then no thanks, Sam Gallagher will outscore him He's only 30. Half a season loan isn't much of a gamble.
doddisalegend Posted 12 December, 2014 Posted 12 December, 2014 Has he improved in Italy? Genuine question. If not then no thanks, Sam Gallagher will outscore him Didn't Lambert out score him for two seasons.................the Lambert that wasn't good enough for saints. Torres really doesn't fit the mould of a saints signing.
warsash saint Posted 12 December, 2014 Posted 12 December, 2014 Any examples of players coming back to their original performances to a sustained period after such an injury? Alan Shearer
Window Cleaner Posted 12 December, 2014 Posted 12 December, 2014 Alan Shearer Cantona as well, many players have had cruciate ligament surgery, most make it back to their original level, many in a shorter period than JRod as well.
Bucks Saint Posted 12 December, 2014 Posted 12 December, 2014 He's only 30. Half a season loan isn't much of a gamble. Terrible record at Chelsea over how ever many seasons. Now in Italy, 10 games, 19 shots, 1 goal. Not for me
simondo Posted 12 December, 2014 Posted 12 December, 2014 Torres! bite your hands YES..! its clear he lack confidence, give the boy the service he needs, and once he's banged a few in, he'll be on fire...
Faz Posted 12 December, 2014 Posted 12 December, 2014 Torres! bite your hands YES..! its clear he lack confidence, give the boy the service he needs, and once he's banged a few in, he'll be on fire... It'll take him 3 months to get fit enough after the stroll that is Serie A
SO16_Saint Posted 18 December, 2014 Posted 18 December, 2014 What context was this said in: Koeman on @JayRodriguez9: "He needs time and we will give him that time, but it's a pity because he's a fantastic player." #saintsfc What's "a pitty" ??

The pity from RK's POV is that he was expected back In Dec/Jan (would have been like a new signing) but now its not so clear. RK won't put a date on it because it puts pressure on the player, but looking like end Jan at least, much along the lines of what was originally expected, but maybe a little later as he has had to "step back".

Thanks. .. I was worried he had picked up a new injury. still have doubts as to whether we will see him again (certainly at the level he was at prior to getting injured) - but that's a different question for another day.
