Staplewood, Grand Opening today.

I think we can all safely say that we are proud as hell of this club, for everything it stands for.

This 'way' has success written all over it, but patience is required.

Think that might be the sticking point in the plan you only have to go back 4 months to find this place full of fans demanding KL do one........

A nice touch but don't like the way it starts with 'Saved Southampton Football Club'.

Saturday 4th April, 2009, I took my son, aged 3 years, 1 month, to his first game, because at the time I wasn't sure we would survive and get out of administration and I wanted to tell him he'd gone to see the Saints (we lost 3-2 to Charlton and he's not brought us much luck in subsequent visits, tbh). I think "Saved Southampton Football Club" is just about right.

What a journey these last 5 years have been, though. Very proud to be a Saints fan today.

Snap my that was my sons first game aged six because I thought he might not see another saints game. Since then he has been lucky enough to see some of the best times Saints have had since the early 80s so much so he gets quite shocked when saints lose.

I have no problem with Markus being credited with saving our club at all.

When adults write on here that they are actually crying watching a video, are they being genuine or is it just something that looks nice written down? It's a lovely video and great to see but I'm not going to start crying about it.

Watch the long vid, the bit where Les Reed talks about ML, there's your answer. We're all different mate.

Well you cynical sod Hypo, I am sat here at 46 years old with tears in my eyes. We are so very fortunate to be in the safe hands of the Liebherrs: most other clubs supporters would kill for owners like ours.

I truly hope we continue our upwards trajectory: the Liebherrs deserve it.

What a truly special club we are and the change over the last 12 months shows clearly what can be achieved as the club moves forward. Inclusive, caring and driven for success.

Unbelievable time to be a Saints fan

What a great time this is to be a Saints fan. Great to hear Kat say a few words. Kruger came across very well. Great speaker without any notes, just an annoying accent. Fantastic tribute overall to a great man who we owe a lot to. I'm sure (just like in every game) his name will be sung loud and proud on Saturday.

Ignore any trolling/fishing on this thread.

Lol at the Sky Sports coverage of the recruitment team. Paul Mitchell repeatedly asked whether 'this was the place you would spot someone like Graziano Pelle & Dusan Tadic, and convince the manager to sign them'. Think Koeman formed an opinion on both without use of the 'black box'.

I was born a Saint a long time ago...supported and attended games for as long as I can remember...there have been highs and of course lows but for the last 5 years I don't think I've been prouder of MY team.

Passionate fans invest a lot more than money in their team...that's why, when things look to be going wrong they revert to type...not an insult...we ALL do. Some are optimists and some pessimists, very few have a balanced view, as fans we don't have all the facts. Whatever happened in the summer we ALL genuinely judged the presented "facts" with our own set of emotional prejudices.

Today is cathartic for all Saints Supporters as we have seen and heard what the club is all about...look at the responses here and you'll see we're ALL part of that family again. Let's hope today's events provide a grounding for doubters during the next storm.

In the name of brotherly love, today I have removed all the a***oles off ignore.;)

I've watched all the videos. On none of them have I had to pause because of tears ffs. I watched them I'm my lunch break, smiled and then got in with what I was doing. Maybe football doesn't mean as much to me? Can't be too sad about a billionaire, he probably had a cracking life. Shame he had to die so soon into the project but I've known loads of people who have died much younger and in far more tragic circumstances. I'm sure Markus was a great bloke and it does appear that way but I didn't know him personally so I find it hard to get too emotionally invested in his passing.

I think 'saving it' is a bit much to the letter of the law. Thee's not many that would have taken us to where we are now, thats for sure, but if he had not come in, someone else would have, we would never have gone bust, thats a fact.

Very true. Don't think I met anyone at forest away who really thought it was our last ever game.

Very understated and the perfect tribute IMO. A fitting legacy and something everyone working for the club should feel immensely privileged and proud of.

Personally, I am extremely proud of our achievements and we will look back at these times with great enjoyment in years to come... So, enjoy it fellow supporters... its what we've always dreamed of.

Now to actually winning something and adding our name to the history of this great game once again. It's surely our turn by now???

UP THE SAINTS!!!!

Yep. For me winning something is now the key if we want to be taken seriously. I'm desperate for a cup win.

Okay hypo well done, we'll see if they'll put your name on the building too. :adore:

BTW how is your troll campaign strategy for January window coming along, could be a tough one but I have faith in you to have a good go anyway. :toppa:

Great tribute, video and speech; but doesn't nobody else find Ralph at the end slightly cringeworthy??

He's never going to be my cup of tea because imo he sounds a little insincere. It doesn't really matter though when it's a good news story like this. We should be very attractive to Europe's best youth players. If saints wants you why would you go anywhere else?

I like how Markus' name has been attached (not in the literal sense) to the training centre rather than say a stand at the ground. Very fitting and makes perfect sense.

Me too, like it says, the academy and training ground is his legacy, it's very fitting and means a lot more to the future generations of players.
