kwsaint Posted 3 November, 2014 Share Posted 3 November, 2014 Was discussing this with my Dad last night. They don't really seem to buy any of our players unlike all the other 'big' teams. The last one I can think of was Graham Baker back in the 80s. Can anyone think of a more recent one?
beatlesaint Posted 3 November, 2014 Share Posted 3 November, 2014 Didn't they buy one of the Mills brothers from us ? Matt Mills is it ? other than that Phil Boyer and Graham Baker in the early eighties are the last ones I can think of too.

Mowgli Posted 3 November, 2014 Share Posted 3 November, 2014 Seem to remember being very disappointed in the manner of his departure. Yet another who thought the grass greener but never made it at Citeh
SNSUN Posted 3 November, 2014 Share Posted 3 November, 2014 We pick up some stunning ex-City players though. Lucien Mettomo was a particular highlight.

VectisSaint Posted 3 November, 2014 Share Posted 3 November, 2014 Seem to remember being very disappointed in the manner of his departure. Yet another who thought the grass greener but never made it at Citeh Mick stayed loyal for a few seasons after we were relegated despite the constant threat to his England place a a result. In the close season before the 1977–78 season, Channon left his beloved Southampton — still in the Second Division to join City for 300k. He never really settled and City struggled and he happily returned 2 years later. To suggest he left in the manner of Lallana and the other recent deserters really is quite an insult. Agreed!. .I think there may have been a " friction " between Mick and Lawrie Mac, but as it turned out we got Phil Boyer and Ted MacDougall for a couple of seasons. A very productive goals-scoring pair. Mick returned ....for a while, after which LMac ditched him ...again.. His later performances at Norwich showed he still had some good games in him. david in sweden Posted 3 November, 2014 Share Posted 3 November, 2014 Matt Mills. £500k or so. As a former " youth player " he must have felt a bit miffed when we parted company with Steve Wigley and he followed him to MC ...but it took a while longer for his career to get going. Minsk Posted 3 November, 2014 Share Posted 3 November, 2014 Yes, but in 1977 according to Wiki. From there I learnt he also played for Caroline Hill F.C. I used to date a Caroline Hill. She is the sister of Gordon Hill, ex Man Utd and England. Used to love ribbing him about the '76 cup final.
