Singapore Saint Posted 1 November, 2014 Posted 1 November, 2014 Tim 'a bit too much time on my hands' Sherwood writes in his column for The Independent that Saints are successful because "they have an identity": http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/tim-sherwood-column-southampton-are-succeeding-because-they-have-an-identity-9832243.html
dronskisaint Posted 1 November, 2014 Posted 1 November, 2014 Tim 'I'm not bitter, oh no not me' Sherwood making some salient points amongst the point-making about his own situation!
Baird of the land Posted 1 November, 2014 Posted 1 November, 2014 I'll be interested to see where he rocks up next and how he does. Think he's got potential to be a very good manager. I wasn't against the notion of him at Saints if we weren't able to attract someone of the calibre of Koeman.

Toon Saint Posted 1 November, 2014 Posted 1 November, 2014 He needs to become more media savvy and shed the wide-boy image, but he definitely has potential as a coach and made quite a lot of these points while at Spurs, which was refreshing to hear. Levy is a joke of Chairman; a complete narcissist puffed up on his own sense of self-importance with little talent for implementing long-term strategy. The man is like a pendulum, swinging from one hair-brained idea to the next with no patience to ever see it through. Sherwood recognised that and wasn't afraid to say as much (in slightly more restrained terms) once he knew he was getting the chop. I know he often spoke about the difference in 'pressure' between managing at Saints or Spurs, but fair to say, he was probably quite envious of Poch's lot and the support he was provided with. A penny for Senior Pochettino's thoughts now...
buctootim Posted 1 November, 2014 Posted 1 November, 2014 I liked Sherwood's 'say it like it is' approach at Spurs because it was the club most in need of a reality check. That said a touch of diplomacy not only greases the wheels with your boss but also makes you a much better man manager with the players. Its hard to know if long term he'd work out well like Gary Monk at Swansea or an ego driven failure like de Canio.

Could be a vacancy for the 'PL Gobby London Twa^t' coming up soon , once 'Arry gets the push. Sherwood is well suited for the position.
