Update:

Monk

Recommended Posts

- looking to wrap up deals for Alderweireld and Bertrand early.

- Koeman still reserving judgment on Cork's, Classie is still very much on his list.

- Staplewood look's tremendous and the interior tops any training ground I have been/worked at.

- Jay Rod working his backside off.

- JWP in everyday even when given a day off.

- 360 visualization & coordination is a key principle to the training programme (co-ordination when facing play - this is what the walking and juggling practices seek ti improve)

- Mane settled very well, good friends with Mayuka who is a an excitable character.

- Still looking to enhance Staplewood - some of it is still out of bounds.

- Keep an eye out for Callum Slattery

I like S.Davis and Cork, but one has to go if he wants Classie, But Personally feel under Koeman, Cork has been the better player, also slightly younger, so hopefully we re sign him, specially if we get uefa cup, we need a good squad depth, Victor and Cork as our back CMs would be quality.

Good stuff. Wasn't Sir Clive Woodward into all that visualisation stuff too?

Classie would be a super addition. I hope this is right.

I don't get the Cork situation. He's been nothing but solid for us yet that's 3 different Saints managers that just see him as a squad player. If I had to choose which one to keep, I'd rather J-Rod left for a healthy fee than Cork walked for nothing

I actually discussed this in my blog post of minutes ago. I have posted a new article entitled “Possible Reasons for not Signing Jack Cork Right Now.” It is speculation, not inside information.

I would have thought Cork is one of those players that even if the manager doesn't rate him massively well, you keep him signed up because the fans all love him? Besides, he'll be a great replacement up front should Pelle get injured this season!

EDIT: But cheers for the info Monk, greatly appreciated.

What about if he is seen to block the "pathway" for the likes of JWP and Harrison Reed?

LR seemed to put a big emphasis on that in his recent presentation.

Woodward used Sherylle Calder, a visual acuity coach, when he was

England.manager....trains spatial awareness and recognition, stimulus identification and response etc

Agree entirely with you on Classie, who would drop out to accommodate him though??

I still feel there's a chance for Mayuka to be an effective player for us. Being written off far too early by most.

He looks a very different player than the one we saw before who looked very lightweight. He has definitely bulked up over the last year and looks much more physically able to cope with the PL than before. He may yet turn out to be a good player, depite how he has looked in the past.

Excellent, thanks for the update Monk.

I think getting Alderweireld and Bertrand done will leave us with one, maybe two players to bring in next Summer, a back up striker and back up keeper.

I don't think we'd be able to improve on any other player at the moment.

Assuming we keep everyone next summer surely.

Yeah, I think if Tadic even vaguely keeps up his form he'll be almost impossible to keep. Schneiderlin probably has an agreement to leave in the summer for a CL club. If we lost Morgan I'd take Clasie and keeping Cork, we'd still have very good options there and with JWP and Reed coming through.

Tadic for sure the way he is playing Liverpool will want him to replace Lallana. Morgan will want European football and we will want to sell him before his contract runs to low.

The fact that no contract has come seems obvious that Cork's future is not certain. While we might well sign another player, I would actually prefer to have English even if it wasn't quite as good. But...if it meant Europe then maybe I could stow my thoughts.

If we genuinely have European aspirations though the league we still need the 5 players we needed in January to be a legitimate season-long threat. Starters all over the pitch and bench please, and none of this "making do" nonsense. Every player should be able to slot in without any kind of drop in quality.

Well, we won't be doing that.

We could never really do that ... does not mean we might not challenge for European places, just be doing it 'the Southampton way'. Targett had looked assured when called upon, the academy keeps on producing decent players ... rather see us, where possible, give them the chance to push into the first team rather than constantly seeking external recruitments.

We still have enough cash to not have to sell anyone. But I think Maybe Cork would be sacrificed for Clasie. Koeman knows what he wants.

That he keeps getting linked with Arsenal...

Has he signed a pro-deal yet?

Good player, been fast tracked due to pressure put on the club by those around him only too keen to point out Arsenal are sniffing around. Probably wouldn't be playing in the 18s and with a scholarship at 15 without it though so have to doff your cap a little. Always been highly rated by the club though.

Thanks. What position does he play ? Please don't say another left back.
