Monk Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 - looking to wrap up deals for Alderweireld and Bertrand early. - Koeman still reserving judgment on Cork's, Classie is still very much on his list. - Staplewood look's tremendous and the interior tops any training ground I have been/worked at. - Jay Rod working his backside off. - JWP in everyday even when given a day off. - 360 visualization & coordination is a key principle to the training programme (co-ordination when facing play - this is what the walking and juggling practices seek ti improve) - Mane settled very well, good friends with Mayuka who is a an excitable character. - Still looking to enhance Staplewood - some of it is still out of bounds. - Keep an eye out for Callum Slattery
hypochondriac Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Heard anything about Jay Rod and his desire to play for saints rather than Spurs? Shame about Cork if so, would be a mistake not to sign him up IMO.
Bearsy Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 cheers that all sounds positive. Interesting that we only have room in the squad for one JC, I spose if that really is the case i would prob plump for Jordy too.

scotty Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Jesus is my choice. I'd say "he's nailed on", but that would be tasteless.
JxgrSaint Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Jesus is my choice. Not very good against crosses though...
Bearsy Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 guise pls Anyone know what 360 vizualization entails exactly? I am interested in this.
sammysaint Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 I like S.Davis and Cork, but one has to go if he wants Classie, But Personally feel under Koeman, Cork has been the better player, also slightly younger, so hopefully we re sign him, specially if we get uefa cup, we need a good squad depth, Victor and Cork as our back CMs would be quality.

Wasn't Sir Clive Woodward into all that visualisation stuff too? Classie would be a super addition. I hope this is right.
Saint_clark Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 I still feel there's a chance for Mayuka to be an effective player for us. Being written off far too early by most.
Bad Wolf Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 I don't get the Cork situation. He's been nothing but solid for us yet that's 3 different Saints managers that just see him as a squad player. If I had to choose which one to keep, I'd rather J-Rod left for a healthy fee than Cork walked for nothing

If I had to choose which one to keep, I'd rather J-Rod left for a healthy fee than Cork walked for nothing I actually discussed this in my blog post of minutes ago. I have posted a new article entitled “Possible Reasons for not Signing Jack Cork Right Now.” It is speculation, not inside information. http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/ http://redsloscf.blogspot.co.uk/
Toon Saint Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Cheers Monk. Any word on contract extensions for Clyne and J-Rod?
trousers Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Cheers Monk. Are Arsenal still sniffing around Slattery?
doddisalegend Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 I'm at a loss at why managers don't seem to rate Jack Cork ........
whelk Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 I'm at a loss at why managers don't seem to rate Jack Cork ........ Well he can't not rate him as started last 2 games ahead of Wanyama. Feel same as everyone else as to baffled why nothing on the table
Wurzel Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 guise pls Anyone know what 360 vizualization entails exactly? I am interested in this.
igsey Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 (edited) I would have thought Cork is one of those players that even if the manager doesn't rate him massively well, you keep him signed up because the fans all love him? Besides, he'll be a great replacement up front should Pelle get injured this season! EDIT: But cheers for the info Monk, greatly appreciated. Edited 29 October, 2014 by igsey
adrian lord Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Jesus is my choice. Tends to get incapacitated by injury around the critical Easter period. nice update tho monk.
croydonsaint Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Appreciate update. Cant see why we do not sign Cork even if only to protect his value as Surely he would attract buyers if we did wish to lose him.
Whitey Grandad Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Not very good against crosses though... But saves a lot.

LR seemed to put a big emphasis on that in his recent presentation.
Viking Saint Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 (edited) Good stuff. Wasn't Sir Clive Woodward into all that visualisation stuff too? Classie would be a super addition. I hope this is right. Woodward used Sherylle Calder, a visual acuity coach, when he was England.manager....trains spatial awareness and recognition, stimulus identification and response etc Agree entirely with you on Classie, who would drop out to accommodate him though?? Beckenham Saint Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Jesus is my choice. He already played for us for a few years at right back

But thank you for the update, sounds good!
VectisSaint Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 I still feel there's a chance for Mayuka to be an effective player for us. Being written off far too early by most. He looks a very different player than the one we saw before who looked very lightweight. He has definitely bulked up over the last year and looks much more physically able to cope with the PL than before. He may yet turn out to be a good player, depite how he has looked in the past.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Excellent, thanks for the update Monk. I think getting Alderweireld and Bertrand done will leave us with one, maybe two players to bring in next Summer, a back up striker and back up keeper. I don't think we'd be able to improve on any other player at the moment.
doddisalegend Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Excellent, thanks for the update Monk. I think getting Alderweireld and Bertrand done will leave us with one, maybe two players to bring in next Summer, a back up striker and back up keeper. I don't think we'd be able to improve on any other player at the moment. Assuming we keep everyone next summer surely.
doddisalegend Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Yeah, I think if Tadic even vaguely keeps up his form he'll be almost impossible to keep. Schneiderlin probably has an agreement to leave in the summer for a CL club. If we lost Morgan I'd take Clasie and keeping Cork, we'd still have very good options there and with JWP and Reed coming through. Tadic for sure the way he is playing Liverpool will want him to replace Lallana. Morgan will want European football and we will want to sell him before his contract runs to low.
slickmick Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 What does anyone know about Callum Slattery ?
angelman Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 The fact that no contract has come seems obvious that Cork's future is not certain. While we might well sign another player, I would actually prefer to have English even if it wasn't quite as good. But...if it meant Europe then maybe I could stow my thoughts.
ivangolac Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Tadic for sure the way he is playing Liverpool will want him to replace Lallana. Morgan will want European football and we will want to sell him before his contract runs to low. and they'll want Alderwierald for Lovren and Pelle for Lambert - scouse mugs

I don't think we'd be able to improve on any other player at the moment. If we genuinely have European aspirations though the league we still need the 5 players we needed in January to be a legitimate season-long threat. Starters all over the pitch and bench please, and none of this "making do" nonsense. Every player should be able to slot in without any kind of drop in quality.

SuperSAINT Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 What does anyone know about Callum Slattery ? That he keeps getting linked with Arsenal... Has he signed a pro-deal yet?

Starters all over the pitch and bench please, and none of this "making do" nonsense. Every player should be able to slot in without any kind of drop in quality. We could never really do that ... does not mean we might not challenge for European places, just be doing it 'the Southampton way'. Targett had looked assured when called upon, the academy keeps on producing decent players ... rather see us, where possible, give them the chance to push into the first team rather than constantly seeking external recruitments.
Convict Colony Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 guise pls Anyone know what 360 vizualization entails exactly? I am interested in this. I think you already do it when your sat alone watching hollyoaks ???
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Tends to get incapacitated by injury around the critical Easter period. nice update tho monk. In fairness he recovers quite quickly
Whitey Grandad Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Goes missing at Easter. Eating too many Easter eggs.
saintbob40 Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Cork goes bad karma, Jenga collapse. Monk facts, SaintBob juju man.

We still have enough cash to not have to sell anyone. But I think Maybe Cork would be sacrificed for Clasie. Koeman knows what he wants.
Cascadia Saint Posted 29 October, 2014 Posted 29 October, 2014 Tends to get incapacitated by injury around the critical Easter period. He does, but recovers very quickly if I remember correctly...
Torrent Of Abuse Posted 30 October, 2014 Posted 30 October, 2014 Goes missing at Easter. For three days, FFS. He obviously needed the break because after he came back, he was on another level.
sambosa75 Posted 30 October, 2014 Posted 30 October, 2014 That he keeps getting linked with Arsenal... Has he signed a pro-deal yet? Good player, been fast tracked due to pressure put on the club by those around him only too keen to point out Arsenal are sniffing around. Probably wouldn't be playing in the 18s and with a scholarship at 15 without it though so have to doff your cap a little. Always been highly rated by the club though.

SuperSAINT Posted 30 October, 2014 Posted 30 October, 2014 Midfield. Not sure if holding or attacking variety though If Arsenal want him he's bound to not be defensive
