Saint-Armstrong Posted 28 October, 2014 Share Posted 28 October, 2014 From this weekend just gone... https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Pb7_ym_434I I understand from what Beattie and others have said, he's making the most of his time out since losing his job at Accrington by studying, and Saints are one of the clubs to have allowed him access to watch training and the like. Nice touch.

Weston Saint Posted 29 October, 2014 Share Posted 29 October, 2014 Has a nice chat with him and separately Gordon Watson on Saturday. Whilst he was at Accrington he paid one of the Inland Revenue bills because the club were having difficulties. Just before he left he decided he had taken them as far as he could without investment/introduction of new players but the owner said there was no money available. He decided to resign as it was taking up all of his time with no results. After he went the new manager bought in 5 players which Beats says spoke volumes. He wants to get back into coaching/managing and as he says, he is being allowed to visit clubs and watch the training, taking notes but not getting involved. I thought he left us when he was past his best and although he had plenty of time for me on Saturday his manner in the past has been a bit arrogant. I was with someone who sponsored him for 5 years and as a result sat with him on end of season dinners. He met him one on holiday in a lift. He said hello to James who just said hello and the rest of the journey in the lift was very quiet and uncomfortable for my friend. Suffice to say he did not sponsor him again. Golden Balls Posted 29 October, 2014 Share Posted 29 October, 2014 Nice bloke when sober. Bit of a tit when drinking. Still can't imagine him being a good manager but fair play to him for getting out there and learning.

Don't think a man of his age with his responsibilities should do some of the things he does. I grew out of that behaviour years ago.
Fan The Flames Posted 29 October, 2014 Share Posted 29 October, 2014 Stop the ****in press there's a new story; Young man can be a bit of a tit sometimes when ****ed.
Minty Posted 29 October, 2014 Share Posted 29 October, 2014 As a young bloke he used to get drunk and make a tit of himself... could be 90% of us. I'm not sure any of us are in any position to judge anyone else for that, unless we've lived squeaky clean lives. My experiences of Beatts were always very positive, his fundraising efforts for Sophie's Appeal were vast, and he was always a nice bloke when I met him and his wife Sarah. Back to the thrust of the thread though, good to see him down here trying to learn more and further his managerial career. Good luck to him. Lighthouse Posted 29 October, 2014 Share Posted 29 October, 2014 Another shyster who coundn't wait to leave for Everton and leave us in the sh*te. Except back then the chairman really did lack ambition. When your manager is Steve Wigley and you are signing players like Aledine Yahia and Mikael Nilsson then you have every right to be concerned. You mean African Nations Cup Winner Alaeddine Yahia, who has 150 appearances for former French champions Lens and 21 Tunisia caps to his name? You're looking at the wrong guy to start defending that sh111thouse Nilsson though.
