Kieran1uk Posted 27 October, 2014 Share Posted 27 October, 2014 Is it me or is Jay Rod behind the scenes...? What I mean is, apart from like one 'on the road to recovery' video I haven't seen much of him, even Prowesy's getting more air time since his injury!!! Is he just laying low? just not sure
Shroppie Posted 27 October, 2014 Share Posted 27 October, 2014 I'm more than happy for him to have a low (invisible) profile instil the end of January!

david in sweden Posted 28 October, 2014 Share Posted 28 October, 2014 Point taken, but at the same time it must be boring for someone who's been out for 6 months to have to go on about his recevery... when all he wants to do is be out there training with the rest of the squad. Better to wait for interviews when he's back in the action.........

Beckenham Saint Posted 28 October, 2014 Share Posted 28 October, 2014 When the kit was announced he was part of the campaign and tweeted "Love the new kit, what do you guys think? #thestripesareback" He has done various interviews with us, and appeared on Soccer AM talking about us the first week of the season, has done a lot of saints foundation stuff and has been at most (all?) of the games, including the brief pre-season tour and openly targeted our trip to turf moor as a game he'd like to be back by, being a former claret... Can't really see what more we would expect or want to see from him?

derry Posted 28 October, 2014 Share Posted 28 October, 2014 Except to sign the new contract offered. If he doesn't, he knows he will be leaving in the summer at the latest as there is no way we will let him run his contract down.

And unless dynamics shift drastically, Ings should no longer see Liverpool as beyond anything we can offer.

Batman Posted 28 October, 2014 Share Posted 28 October, 2014 What do you mean by has it under control? guessing that in the likely even that Jrod does not sign a new deal (which does seem likely), we will move him on in the summer for a fair few millions quid and we have already had dialogue with Ings....???? Saint Charlie Posted 28 October, 2014 Share Posted 28 October, 2014 Not sure what the obession is with Ings. He would struggle to get any game time for us and as a replacement for Jay Rod would be, quite frankly, disappointing, especially when compared to the quality of player we have signed this summer. Personally I think it's much too hasty to say something like that. Jay rod didn't look that great in our first season up and it takes time to adjust to the Prem. IMO if we sign him then we will have seen something in our analysis that we like. He is young with plenty of time on his side and could be a bargain. Turkish Posted 28 October, 2014 Share Posted 28 October, 2014 And cheap with his contract situation, don't forget cheap. And a saints fan. If some on here had got their way we'd have Brian stock in midfield, Lucas Jutkevitz (sp) and Sam Vokes up front with Wade Elliott on the wing. I know what you mean, but lets face it, if Ings had no link to Southampton in the past he wouldnt be mentioned here half as much as he is. On a free transfer we might be keen, but he doesn't have the same level of potential Jay did and still does. All IMO of course.

Saint Charlie Posted 28 October, 2014 Share Posted 28 October, 2014 (edited) Hasn't he been injured most of the season? Has missed a few games. In fact for someone of his age he has missed a lot of time due to injury in his short career. Long term abdominal injury, 6 month knee layoff and a few hamstring injuries, a fair bit for a 22 year old.
