Best Keeper in the League so Far This Season

Fraser Forster.

"Fraser Forster has the best saves to shots ratio of any first-choice goalkeeper in the top flight in 2014-15 (75%)"

Pretty impressive. I know he's not exactly had many to deal with.... but still, impressive. I've definitely noticed an improvement from last season in the Keeper department. Distribution especially.

Boruc was very good for us last season, but Fraser could really end up being immense for us. Certainly one of our best signings this summer (though its getting harder and harder to choose!).

His positioning for free-kick placement is poor. He invites them to shoot at the top corner and then has no chance of getting there when they do it... repeatedley. We commented on this against sunderland when sat directly behind the goal... and sure enough he did it.

Aside from that, he is usually very good at getting shots away from his body. However, when it is close to him he seems to push it straight back out into play (maybe this is because of his size and a smaller GK would have been diving etc to push it away, where as for him he is often just right there behind it!

Been impressed with him none the less, kicking was good when he started, been a bit dodge recently though. And he was poor at shot stopping and getting it clear vs tottenham.

Good keeper, one for years to come, certainly can improve!

I would like to know how many shots and saves. The ratio is very good (although the worst is apparently Begovic with 53%), but these stats never reveal the true numbers. There have been so few shots for Forster to actually save so far it is really hard to judge how good he is. It was similar with Boruc last season, the outfielders are very effective and denying our opponents goal scoring opportunities in the first place. Did Forster save twice against Sunderland, I can only remember two saves? 75% suggests it is actually 15 saved out of 20 (given that we have conceded just 5 times). So that's 2.5 shots per match, which is remarkable if true (remarkable that we have limited teams to 2 or 3 shots per match).

I am not saying Fraser isn't any good - but I have yet to see him pull off a match saving performance

Boruc did... several times..

Fortunately we haven't needed one...

but I am as yet, unconvinced...

so endeth the word of simondo...

Which was rather cancelled out by stupid **** like the stoke goal and deciding he was a midfield maestro in his own 6 yard box.......

Am I the only person who doesn't get anxious now when the ball is passed back to the goalie. However good a shot stopper AB was, there were too many poor clearances, poor passes out, too much dallying around etc. I feel a lot more confident that there are going to be less **** ups with FF, and his kicking, while not always brilliant, is a lot better than AB.
