TopGun Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 0-0 - bore draw 1-0 - sneaky win 2-0 - comfortable win 3-0 - excellent win 4-0 - thrashing 5-0 6-0 7-0 8-0 Fill in the gaps.
Gingeletiss Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 Well! here in the land down under, 7 news described it as a thrashing, I'd call it a beasting.
Ohio Saint Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 5-0 is a nipple twisting. I suppose 8-0 would be a lot more painful than that.
Ohio Saint Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 Demolition Nah, I'm pretty sure 8-0 involves someone's rectum and a largish inanimate object.
Ultimatt Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 8-0 is a pantsing, like in 8-ball where you drop your pants and run around the table if you lose without sinking one.
Hatch Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 you have to spell it out every time you mention it was 8 (eight)
Ohio Saint Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 The OS described it as a drubbing. I looked up the word online, and it says that a drubbing is the insertion of a largish inanimate object into someone's rectum. The word comes from the incident called "The Drubbing of the Turks" Where the Turkish army were drubbed by the army of Drubai in retaliation for "The Turking of the Drubs"
doddisalegend Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 I thought it was "tearing them a new one" I swear that's what Dave Merrington said on Solent yesterday.

Delboy Dave Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 0-0 - bore draw 1-0 - sneaky win 2-0 - comfortable win 3-0 - convincing win 4-0 - excellent win 5-0 - thrashing 6-0 - rout 7-0 - annihilation 8-0 - LOVELY JUBBLY!
martel Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 Definitely a cotton bud down the jap's eye, 8-0 is Nothing, had a camera down mine
tpbury Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 Whenever I see 'thrashing' in a headline, I expect at least 4-0, but it seems this has been downgraded to 3-0. I thought the appropriate cliche was humiliation (as stated above), but I see more 'Demolition' in the headlines (also, as above). Personally, I think humiliation is worse than demolition, so I would go with that. However, as we see the continual erosion of the power of cliche (have we got to 200% effort yet?), perhaps the correct level of hyperbole is annihilation (again, as above). I should think resident swots Bletch and Follwyd should contribute here.
whelk Posted 19 October, 2014 Posted 19 October, 2014 See if you can find words to distinguish these 2 results from Nigeria http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/nigeria/10197198/Plateau-United-Feeders-and-Police-Machine-players-banned-after-Nigerian-football-matches-end-79-0-and-67-0.html
