Lighthouse Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 The first hilarious, no doubt about it but I'd be tempted to give the second to Pelle. It looked to me like it was going in and the defender made an absolute dogs dinner of the clearance. Poll mods?
bpsaint Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Would like to give it to Pelle but fairly certain one of the touches by the defender briefly took it away from the goal before he touched it over the line again.

trousers Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 I've not seen the Pelle non-goal but if it was guaranteed to be going in regardless of the defender's intervention then it can't be counted as an own goal
Turkish Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 https://v.cdn.vine.co/r/videos_h264high/B7B755B6AB1135261190172381184_SW_WEBM_14136415675917f112be121.mp4?versionId=Q5mxSDgFtYr6kGRK8joDY_UeStEFQeen WTF?!! What was he doing? He actually looks like he was trying to do that
Bearsy Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 What was he doing? He actually looks like he was trying to do that straight from the Gareth Barry school of predatory finishing
Bananaman Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 I've not seen the Pelle non-goal but if it was guaranteed to be going in regardless of the defender's intervention then it can't be counted as an own goal I think (bearing in mind I only saw it twice on a stream) that the keepers touch actually caused the ball to spin away from goal despite the fact it had past him, the defenders attempt to touch it seemed to send it back the other way. I though OG unfortunately

I though OG unfortunately I've just watched it and I'm inclined to think the opposite. I think the ball was destined for the goal after the keeper touched it. Not 100% convinced mind you but IMO the ball is definitely heading towards the goal after the keeper spills it
Saint Without a Halo Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Certainly going in before the defender tried to keep it out so must be Pelles http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x286yhn_southampton-vs-sunderland-8-0-full-highlights-18-10-2014-premier-league_sport

I don't know the rules. Is that an own goal?
ericofarabia Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Looks like another Saints striker is going to be denied a hatrick by the dubious goals panel. The decision denying Egil his goal against Man U was shocking - and Neville certainly wasn't in a rush to claim it!!
VectisSaint Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Clearly an own goal. Defence had 2 or 3 opportunities to clear. Shambolic defending.
trousers Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 I think the defender's first touch took it away from goal and then he put it in. I don't know the rules. Is that an own goal? Mentally remove the defender from the field of play and if the ball was destined for the goal regardless of the defender's intervention then it is Pelle's goal. (IMO)
Whitey Grandad Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Mentally remove the defender from the field of play and if the ball was destined for the goal regardless of the defender's intervention then it is Pelle's goal. (IMO) Looking at the replays at the stadium it seemed that the goalkeeper saved it and the ball was going away from goal until the defender made a hash of the clearance and bundled the ball over the line.
CB Saint Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Not enjoyed an own goal as much as when Jon Arne Risse buried a header for us.
Whitey Grandad Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 Vergini' was pure class. I could see from the way he shaped up to kick it that it was going to go inside the post but the way he curled it round the 'keeper was outstanding. Apparently he played for Argentina in a friendly in Hong Kong so it's not surprising he was a bit confused.

Looks a truly abysmal player, shouldn't be playing at this level.
tpbury Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 straight from the Gareth Barry school of predatory finishing Bearpo - can we can you? Seal you within a can? After all these years, I imagine you must be approaching 40, or at least 29. Always rage against the dying of the light, mate. You are the soul of this forum. Everyone loves you, but would hate hate you if you sold out like True Geordie, who's much funnier. Actually, I do think you are a funny free thinker.
The Cat Posted 18 October, 2014 Posted 18 October, 2014 The second one remined me of a Sensible Soccer own goal.
