Saints duo win awards - Koeman MOTM - Pellè POTM

A really great achievement for both.

Against Newcastle when Pelle mis-shinned that shot to Tadic before rolling in the return pass I must confess I didn't see his potential as a player of the month!

But he must have doubled his value in two months.

At this point he looks like a great investment, and by pulling on the designer label of Southampton FC he is being recognised on the international stage.

Our contribution to international football is bonkers at the moment.

Someone upstairs is showing inspired judgement, and you don't get to say that very often so let's enjoy it.

Who knows, we might even be able to hold onto the manager and the player for a bit....

Anyway, put away the awards, three points tomorrow is the next target.

Finally get to use my season ticket for the first time since opening day and this happens! It was bad enough that its Sunderland who always park the bus and we always struggle against. But now we get given these 2 gongs... May as well bet on a Sunderland 1-0 win now and be done with it.:mcinnes:

Great work from both, and well deserved, hopefully we can continue this kind of success.

As an aside could see one of the big Italian teams coming in for Pelle in the summer or the summer after if he maintains this kind of form - they would all like the prestige of having the Italian number 9 and he would surely want to end his career having "made it" in his home country. We seem to like the fairytale striker stories at Saints!

Not many Italian teams have the financial clout to prise players away from Premier League clubs.

Juve, perhaps, maybe AC Milan or Inter, but Italian football is going through a bad financial phase currently. Let's hope that's the case.

Pelle to headbutt Fonte in January and get a move to Inter on loan, pairing up with Osvaldo to make a deadly strike force akin to Liverpool's SAS of last season, the 'OAP'.

Thats the type that would be in for him though, not the Lecce's or Bologna's. No point worrying about it, but if Inter and Juve at different times have taken Osvaldo, then if Pelle decided he wanted to end his career over there, then I'm sure he could get a move to one of those.

After scoring 50 goals over two seasons for us of course!

This is the same Graziano Pelle who was getting jeered 30 minutes into his home debut? Surely not.

Fair play to the guy, takes a strong character not to have been affected by that nonsense.

Anyone that jeered that day deserves a slap. Clueless.

Great news, jinx aside. We've upgraded on Lambert wonderfully.

Do have a horrible feeling that we'll lose Saturday now!

I didn't jeer, but anyone who thinks Pelle's performance that day was anything other than woeful also deserves a slap. He was absolute pony. But I'm very glad that he has proved that initial impression wrong.

He will go to Napoli if/when he goes.

Watching the Graziano interview, its massive positive statement for Saints, being picked for your national team whilst playing for Southampton, Italy is a big gun on the International stage with a big pool of players to dip into, Morgan playing for France, Nathaniel getting called into England as well as the 4 last season, and Jose for Portugal, all called up for the first time playing for us.

There will be players out there who in the future will be on our shopping list and whilst CL football might not be on the agenda with us just yet, the opportunity to be seen for an International call up is a tempting selling point to play for the Saints, as every Football player dreams of playing for their National side one day.

Apologies for the aside

Well done Ronald and Graziano.

If ever there was an opportunity to photoshop a halo above Les Reed this would be it...

Excellent point. And something to think on for prospective players and players who are considering leaving.

Why is it incredible, we weren't even in the PL for 5 of those years?

Only the 5th different saints player to win it ever (Beattie, Davies (Kev), MLT and Mickey Evans)

right stattos,

Is there info available to see how many times this has been won per club.

edit: its on wiki :mcinnes:

Doesn't it prove the opposite - that the club is largely irrelevant. You're more likely to get picked if your playing for a team in top three or four and ignored if you're mid table.

Why do you have to spoil a positive thread with your usual negative bile?

Negative bile? Nothing negative in Charlie's post at all, and certainly no bile. what are you on?

We should be enjoying our start to the season as reflected by Pelle's award. Instead, SC decides to post a hypothetical scenario which involves Pelle moving to one of the top Italian teams in the summer. He seems to have a complex about just enjoying the here and now. Maybe he should go outside and get some air instead of worrying all the time?

Haha. In the summer that sadoldgit lad told me to "go outside, take up golf, get a girlfriend etc".

Has anyone told him you can do those three and post on an internet forum all at the same time?

Great achievement. Nasty looking awards though.

Garish 90's tat - just like the BPL trophy.

Can't understand why Barclays dont realise their brand would be better served by a really nice trophy with more subtle logo than an ugly monstrosity. They look even worse from the back its just hollow vacuum formed plastic

You're really reading things that aren't there and to be honest you come across as a bit paranoid.

It would if you choose edit my original post and infer the complete opposite about the team you allegedly support, whilst also stating the bleeding obvious to suit your own negative agenda........................... Jeez!
