Dark Munster Posted 16 October, 2014 Posted 16 October, 2014 http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/165/9519649/uefa-president-michel-platini-makes-white-card-and-sin-bin-proposal Platini's proposals: 1. The creation of a white card which would be followed by a temporary expulsion - a rest - of 10 minutes on the bench. 2. Five substitutions allowed: two changes at half-time, keeping the possibility of three changes during the course of the game. 3. Abolishment of the current rules that mean a player denying an opponent a clear goalscoring opportunity by committing a foul in the penalty area is typically punished threefold - with a penalty, red card and suspension. Instead: penalty and yellow card if the foul is committed in the penalty area; sending-off and free-kick if the foul is committed outside the penalty area. Actually not completely bad ideas from the old bastard. I do think no. 3 in particular is fairer than what we have now. No. 1 I'm not sure about, and no. 2 I'd replace with 3 outfield subs allowed + one during half time, and in addition 1 goalkeeping sub allowed (at any time).
Wade Garrett Posted 27 October, 2014 Posted 27 October, 2014 The white card is supposed to be given for going on at the ref. I agree with it completely. Leave the substitutions as they are. Would also like to see retrospective punishments for diving.

No goalkeepers to be substituted just before a penalty shoot-out, I would say.
Dark Munster Posted 27 October, 2014 Author Posted 27 October, 2014 No goalkeepers to be substituted just before a penalty shoot-out, I would say. I agree, in principle, but hard to enforce. What if the goalie goes down "injured" 30 seconds before the end, winking at his team mates as he's stretchered off?

jawillwill Posted 27 October, 2014 Posted 27 October, 2014 No goalkeepers to be substituted just before a penalty shoot-out, I would say. Why not anymore than any other kind of tactical sub?
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 October, 2014 Posted 27 October, 2014 Why not anymore than any other kind of tactical sub? I was responding to Dark Munster's suggestion of having a goalkeeper substitution as well as all the others. To be honest, I'm against all these tactical substitutions, they disrupt the game and if were not careful well end up like American football with specialist in every position.
