The Long Overdue Pointless 2015/16 (Adidas) Kit Thread

As this is a pointless thread, here's my pointless six penny worth...

Similar home kit to this year but the white stripes replaced by the darker colour currently used as rings on our socks. That would look classy!

With yellow armpits?

How do you know the mega store manager is right?

:)

I'd like to think the man who deals with selling our kits knows what he's talking about he also said next year's kit maybe own brand again as negotiations for next seasons kit had to be done by last October to be ready for the summer and they weren't

I guess what I meant to ask was: "Do you know him well enough to know whether he was telling the truth or trying to 'put you off the scent' with a white lie?"

As opposed to bloke sitting behind his computer with no connection to saints not knowing what he's talking about!?

Looking back at mini_me's posting history, I believe he works for Veho, so probably has quite good connections I would venture....

Laugh out loud indeed. Jolly good fun this.

So, going back to my unanswered question, how well do you know the store manager?

Cheers :)

Just in a professional manner and FYI I or he never said it won't be a veho product just that it would be a different name! ;)

On my phone actually.

Either this guy is mis-informed, telling porkies or just spreading malicious rumors.

Any which way he is 100% wrong.

Where does the megastore owner fit in the sliding scale of ITK?

Somewhere on the spectrum between the security guard and the cabbie who knows a security guard.

I'm picking mini me every day of the week, his emphatic response would suggest he's most likely the company owner, which would be rather funny.

I still struggle to see how we can produce a football kit ready for next season this far out but the biggest sports manufacturers in Europe cannot.

It angered me last year too when this all happened.

  • 2 weeks later...

So, under the assumption that we'll be wearing adidas (based on last year's rumour that we only went own brand due to time constraints after Cortese's deal-cancelling antics and had already agreed to rejoin them), here are some of the new 2015 MLS shirts and a other 2015/16 adidas leaks not already on the thread.

They're pretty much all in line with the two main styles already out there from adidas - the mesh ones with the contrast tape at the bottom, and the ones with the contrast tape at the bottom on sides and back but not the front - and a previously unlinked collar style which looks a lot like our Championship promotion season one:

Sporting Cristal:

Millonarios:

Argentina (Home and Away): Home looks pretty plain and a different template (same as Millonarios) - no tape around the bottom at all and the shoulder section.

Portland Timbers

Ponte Preta - note the adidas stripes all the way down the sleeves - makes me think it must be teamwear (see Man U kit mock up above, they always leave a gap for the competition badge). Also, I think that blue thing is one of next season's adidas keeper's shirts.

New England Revolution (away) [Toronto, Chicago away and Vancouver are the same template too, without the contrast yoke]

Sporting Kansas (Columbus home/away are same, without the tartan bit)

It looks to me like adidas are playing mix and match with their styles this year.

Plain V, plain round neck, button round neck, inset V and button collared shirts.

Four different sleeve/shoulder options.

Mesh, overlap, plain, and square-block (Cristal and NE kits) cuffs.

Mesh overlap, plain overlap, plain and square-block hems.

Can not understand why Saints are dragging their heels over the kit contract for next season. Their club shop apparel offerings are dire and shirt sales must be winding down by now ( as they do most seasons about now ) .... surely they can tie up a deal and get it announced quickly to enhance brand-Saints.... I had it on very good jungle drums that Puma were in a position to dig Saints out of a hole for this season but Saints were not interested... so presumably they are in a position to supply next !? Another season of home-kit embarrassment and faulty returns is surely not on the cards... is it ?

No, I'm sure we have had our next contract signed off for months. We won't announce yet as would effect own brand sales.

only a matter of time till adidas are announced.

A few more...

Ajax (Home and Away)

Surely it shouldn't be beyond the imagination of Adidas to reverse the red and white of this to being a Saints shirt ?

I'm sure they present it to us at every opportunity. Of course last time around that was far too much white for us...

Clicking on the properties, that seems to be Nuremburg's current shirt, which is a 2014/15 template (Swindon are also wearing a similar style).

And the other link took me to last year's kit thread.

PS It doesn't like "https:" URLs.

They aren't....

Not sure this is really of interest or not, but I had a meeting with a couple of the clubs marketing department last week and they were telling me that they had just had the 'big reveal' of the kits internally last week and they had seen the Home, Away and Keeper kits in full.... and loved them!

They wouldn't even give me an inkling on the design (stripes, sash, etc) and trust me I tried so hard to get it out of them!

But all I can share is that the kit is signed off and all done, the consensus internally was a positive one, and the kit is now in production phase ready for the summer launch.

I'm pretty confident that if we're not making it ourselves it'll still be stripes, as the manufacturer/branding becomes the unique selling point again. If it was another Saints own job (and there's no reason it would be), that likelihood drops a small amount, just because they have to make it different enough from last season to encourage the floaters to buy one.

I'm fairly comfortable that the people running the club are on board with stripes now as well.

Have to make a confession, I can appreciate the historical nature of the sash, but it doesn't do it for me. I adore the keegan/rank xerox though. So the reverse of the Ajax shirt would float my boat all the way down the river and back :D

But it's last year's kit style so we won't be getting that even if we did have a sash (and isn't it the 130th Anniversary this year?).

Here's the current 2014/15 Swindon shirt:

That's a pretty revolutionary and forward thinking kit, I've got to say. Them Orientals are going to lap it up*.

*This is a CB Fry autocomplete kit post.
