The Long Overdue Pointless 2015/16 (Adidas) Kit Thread

Stripes are good and stripes are Saints.

But I like there to be a dominance of red, because from a distance the red and white merges to look a bit 'pinkish'. The current kit would be excellent with wider red stripes. I like red shoulders and arms too.

Do we have a new kit every year now then, I always thought it was every other year ?

Been changed every season for about 10 years now.

Been changed every season for about 10 years now.

The last time Southampton had the same kit for two seasons was in 2008/09 and 2009/10.

Would actually quite like halves if we are going retro ;)

Every time I see pics of Graz in his Feyenoord kit I think how good it looks.

Didnt buy this seasons kit due to the embarrassment of a PL club making their own Thailand knock offs (and still charging over 40quid for it).

A decent design next year by any brand will see me buy my first kit since the sash.

anyone know of a timeline? I always hate how late we reveal them. all the OTHER big teams release at least the away kit coming into the end of the season. Didnt some clubs used to release it in may and wear it for the last game of the season?

Seem to recall even Saints wearing the new home kit for the last game of the preceding season about ten years back.

I think that was the last game at the Dell when LeTiss scored against the Arse.

There's a Prem rule allowing teams to wear the next season's kit for their last home or away game of the season.

I think we're missing a trick not releasing a shirt in May, they do tend to leave it a bit late and I'd rather the cost was spread across the summer with the other shirt released just before the season starts. With two kits and a (couple of) season tickets to fork out for the more widely spread over the close season, the better.

Essruu may be on a wind up, like Turkish, but at least there's an outside chance one of the players might have actually said something. Can't see us de-striping myself, too unpopular. No idea if we have reverted to adidas, quite surprised we haven't had some kind of announcement, given that due to the "no-branding" we probably don't have any kind of contract stopping us doing that.

That was the last time we did it, true.

EDIT: Not true, see below :)

The other question of course...will we have a different shirt for Europe?!

We'll need a solid back panel for the numbers to sit on, most shirts don't even have stripes on the back on the top half now anyway, and I think we've moved on from the fury of 2004. Something with a solid top half and stripes underneath for Euro games, with a fully striped version for Premier League would be fine.

Has anyone else seen Many Utd's new Adidas kit? Hilarious.

It cannot possibly be true.

Every adidas shirt for years has had a break in the stripes and a plain patch on the sleeve for the addition of Premier League (or other competition) patches, there's no way that's accurate.

It was last home game of 2002/3 season that we wore the new kit with the red sleeves

Last home game of 2002/3 (FA Cup Final) season was a 0-0 draw with Bolton on 3rd May 2003:

The last match we wore the striped sleeve (FA Cup Semi-Final) shirt at St Mary's was the 3-2 win against Leeds on 19 April 2003.

I'd completely forgotten that, but you're absolutely right.

We did also wear the striped sleeve shirt it replaced in the last League match at The Dell though, prior to wearing it for all of 2001/2 and 2002/3 (except the last match).

If I was to order a Chinese takeaway it'd be a SASHuan sensation. Just saying. Xxxxxxxxx

As long as it doesn't look like the Middlesborough one it would sell out faster than a sash & grab raid on the Megastore

It doesn't look like that, in fact I'd say it SASHionable.

Nailing your colours to the sash mast I see Turkish. At last.

I think the sash is class and gives us real identity. Adidas w/ sash could create a classic.

i would be surprised by this if true. Fwiw I hope ur right.

Curiously, different shorts and socks in the photo shoot....

Not that curious, the yellow shorts and socks have already been worn and are listed as alternates in the Premier League Handbook (unlike the shirts).

An adidas sash kit would give us an identity - we'd be River Plate.

I have one, signed on the back, by the whole team and manager.

Nice. My UEFA Cup shirt is from player stock as by the time I got to the Megastore from South Wales to collect my Steaua Bucharest ticket in person (they wouldn't post them out) they'd sold all the replica XLs.

FWIW, that means that mine doesn't have the UEFA Cup shield embroidery on the back at the top. Other than that, they're pretty much the same.
