spyinthesky Posted 13 October, 2014 Share Posted 13 October, 2014 Although I have been along the Marchwood By Pass many times recently I have not driven through Pooks Green since the Staplewood re-development got under way. Whilst it is difficult to see too much from the road, what is viewable looks really impressive and it appears there is around a similar size footprint yet to be developed into additional pitches. What a difference to when Peter Price originally took over the initial site for Roadsea football and cricket. Had the opportunity to play there a few times 20-30 years ago and it was a cut above the norm then. However the recent transformation really must put the club's Training Ground' amongst the best in this country and possibly in Europe too. Something to be very proud of. Shame we can't, as yet, get to see the facilities first hand
Saint Rees Posted 13 October, 2014 Share Posted 13 October, 2014 I live just around the corner and go past it almost every day, looks as good as done from the outside but I think there's still some minor work going on inside the building and on some of the new pitches. But it looks fantastic, would like the club to do a little tour video of it soon

minime Posted 14 October, 2014 Share Posted 14 October, 2014 seems like the main building is going to be expanded see nfdc 14/11187 | Two-storey extension to development & support centre | STAPLEWOOD TRAINING GROUND, LONG LANE, MARCHWOOD SO40 4WR[/i] and a new dome nfdc14/10884 | Inflatable dome over existing 3g artificial pitch | STAPLEWOOD TRAINING GROUND, LONG LANE, MARCHWOOD SO40 4WR (NB: PROPOSED LEGAL AGREEMENT) i wonder if this means there will be 2 domes now? see 13/10844 | Use of land as football training ground (Use Class D2) for temporary period of 5 years; formation of 5 pitches and training dome | PARKS FARM, LONG LANE, MARCHWOOD SO40 4WR
Give it to Ron Posted 14 October, 2014 Share Posted 14 October, 2014 Was there on Saturday - pitches are amazing. The building at the back is progressing and the new areas look a big improvement from when SCW was here and you could watch the youth games and access via turnstiles etc. So to answer above yes money well spent and from what I saw - we will recoup a lot of that back on the conveyor belt of talent.
