EBS1980 Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Hi I've got an interview lined up with the legend that is Mick Channon for a website that I have. Anyone got any questions they would like me to ask???
Toomer Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Ask him about the goal against Liverpool when we passed them off the pitch.
whelk Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Does he still have occasions where he windmills his arm when happy?
alehouseboys Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 He's obviously a big Saints fan now but you could ask him who he supported as a kid growing up in Wiltshire, we nicked him as a youngster from under the noses of Swindon Town. Was that his team?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 He's obviously a big Saints fan now but you could ask him who he supported as a kid growing up in Wiltshire, we nicked him as a youngster from under the noses of Swindon Town. Was that his team? If you read his biographies (a good place to start EBS 1980) you would know his Dad often took him to The Dell where his first hero was Derek Reeves.
Coastal Saint Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Please ask him why he has never had an honour of any kind. It has always puzzled me why a man who has been a great in two sports was never even given an MBE. In my eyes he should be Sir Mike.
LostBoys Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 The racing fraternity regard him as an upstart apparently and have a 'didn't he play football' attitude towards him. They do not like it when he keeps winning compared to the 'established' trainers. This does not excuse the football side though.

I also remember seeing him is a carriage with her at Ascot. Surely a sign that he is highly regarded.
simo Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Ask him what he thinks of the way certain players supposedly forced thru moves !?
Toadhall Saint Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Does he think the money that is now in football has improved the over all status of English football?
Goatboy Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Who would he like to see as the next England manager?
5string Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Which Saints goal does he wish he had scored, instead of the real goalscorer? Also, how well has he recovered from his accident?
ThreeSixty Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Who does he fancy for the Cesarewitch today?
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 The racing fraternity regard him as an upstart apparently and have a 'didn't he play football' attitude towards him. They do not like it when he keeps winning compared to the 'established' trainers. This does not excuse the football side though. That is not the case. He is very well respected in the industry.
Badger Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Did he ever meet Cortese ? If so, what stories to tell ? Who was the biggest p1ss artist at the club during the Alehouse days ?
Gemmel Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 That is not the case. He is very well respected in the industry. I don't know anything about the industry, but my understanding was the same as yours, that he was held in very high regard.
david in sweden Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Mick was with Saints for about 15 years before McMenemy moved him on (the first time).....but with all his England connections ...did anyone " tap him up " to leave the Dell and move to a "BIG" club? However, he was loyal and stayed all that time ....so what was motivation in NOT moving ? .....and how is his relationship to Lawrie Mac nowadays ?
The Kraken Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Ask him where Mick Jnr has gone and why we don't get the Windmill Diaries any more.
Toadhall Saint Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 Ask him where Mick Jnr has gone and why we don't get the Windmill Diaries any more. I for one second that.
dubai_phil Posted 11 October, 2014 Posted 11 October, 2014 When he next comes over to Dubai with one of his Horses could you ask him if he'd like to join the Dubai Saints group for a beer/watch a game/Dark Side tour? @Dubai Saints on Twitter Thanks Serious question. When he was still playing what was his favourite local Race Day Out? Newbury Salisbury or that place where you had to drive past the skates to get to?
Dellman Posted 12 October, 2014 Posted 12 October, 2014 Mick was with Saints for about 15 years before McMenemy moved him on (the first time).....but with all his England connections ...did anyone " tap him up " to leave the Dell and move to a "BIG" club? He has become a dinosaur
Bucks Saint Posted 12 October, 2014 Posted 12 October, 2014 Who cares about Lawrie Mac these days? He has become a dinosaur More people than care about you i imagine
FreemantleSaint Posted 12 October, 2014 Posted 12 October, 2014 Is it true that the early 70's team which he was a part of used to have a drink in the Fitzhugh/Corner Post pub of a Saturday lunchtime before home games?? And which of the 2014/15 Saints side would have best fitted in with the early 80's side in terms of ability, playing style, character etc?
Gemmel Posted 12 October, 2014 Posted 12 October, 2014 Ask him; Is it true that he dented the lid of the FA Cup, by using it as a friesbie and a local jeweller had to work through the night to knock out the dents
david in sweden Posted 12 October, 2014 Posted 12 October, 2014 Who cares about Lawrie Mac these days? He has become a dinosaur well as its my question....I'd be interested to know if they still speak to each other.....or there is any animosity after all these years ...OK ?
