Sanity at last from thje Moroccan Government

A very serious threat to players and clubs may be averted as the Moroccan government has called for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations to be postponed due to the deadly Ebola epidemic. Surprised the recent International games haven't been called off.

It's definitely something if it's called off, that might save our season, allowing our African players to stay at the club during January and February. My mind boggles at the repercussions of just one player picking up the disease and infecting an entire squad. God forbid.

If there's one thing that I think we can all agree on, it's that our players lives are more important than anybody else's.

What about Mayuka? Didn't Zambia qualify?

Difficult to say as they'll only be halfway through the final qualifying groups after this weekend. Kenya lost to Lesotho in the 2nd round of qualifying for the groups.

Zambia are 3rd of 4 at the moment but even one of the third place teams goes through. You'd hope they were better than Mozambique if not Cape Verde.

Who knows, they're certainly not well placed in their qualifying pool just now, 2 draws and a defeat so far, lost to Cap Verde a while back and drew with Niger today, must have drawn with Mozambique as well. Don't think Mayuka even plays for them now, no doubt gets his call up each time but doesn't seem to make the pitch at all.

Though it has to be said, losing Mayuka isn't even a blip, and Mane's position is well covered by Rodriguez and Long even though Senegal top their qualifying group on goal difference from Tunisia and 4 points clear of Egypt with 3 games to go.

He sat on the bench for the 0-0 with Mozambique and the 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde, the other game was only a few hours ago, haven't seen the teams yet but finished 0-0.

Errr, I think you miss the point. Its not the players with the problems as much as the crowds. Its easy enough to fit a squad of 20 into individual enviropods, but getting 50,000 people mixing in public, coughing, ****ing etc etc etc could spread infection

This!

Can't believe how many people failed to see the bigger picture here.

I believe in general football fans don't go around kissing strangers, licking their sweat or eating their blood or sh*t, so I'm really not sure how much of a risk ebola spreading would be. It's not an airborne disease, it's spread through contact with bodily fluids.

Yeah, it's not like their holding games at Fratton.

I think the issue is, is that is could happen. Players could get infected and they could bring it back to other countries. All it would take is for one chef, or one waiter to catch it and it could be passed into food or water. Or one fan determine to meet his idol passing it over (dont ask the logistics its an extreme point).

But the fact is, as unlikely as it is to happen, it still could. And prevention is a damn sight easier and safer than curing and stopping the spread after.

I agree with you, but the fact is ebola has been blown out of all proportion by the media. It's 2014's bird flu.

They are generally disgusting bastards though (saw an overweight fan at Spurs away mining a particularly juicy bogey and then taking great delight in popping it in his mouth). Could easily catch it by one of them sneezing and infecting all around them.

And you do know they have this marvelous inventions called planes that can transport people a long way Hutch?

Precisely. If you have to get on a plane anyway, then the fact that it is in Africa is irrelevant. And you're not going to get thousands of fans from Sierra Leone driving to Morocco. Try a bit of common sense. And take a look at a map.
