doddisalegend Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Only had the radio to go by but we sounded poor today. Pelle sounded isolated, Tadic seemed below par and our set pieces were ****e. Having said that Spurs didn't sound much better and we seemed to have them well marshalled in general. It seems to me we went to contain them and play on the break probably would have worked but one mix up in defence bollixed that plan up. All in all came across as a pretty turgid game between to mid table sides. Bit of a break and then some good fixtures to get some points in coming up.
doddisalegend Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Why are people having a debate over GK's? It's not worthy of any sort of discussion as nothing is wrong with it. keeper in a couple of opps moments shocker....
simo Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Lolz win 6 on the trot then lose 1 game the keeper is pants !
WealdSaint Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 We were bound to have an off day sooner or later. Even so a draw wold not have been unfair. I thought before the game we should have started Long instead of Mane and I stick by it.
Saint-Reece Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 I hate coming on here after we lose, we were ok, spurs were just better. Pelle got 0 service as our midfield was suffocated and I don't see any reason for debate over Forster, it's not like any of his spillages lead to goals. We lost after 6 straight wins, get a grip ffs. Runs all end at some point.
doubleonothing Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 On the train back to Liverpool street. Dissapointing. Felt RK needed to make changes earlier than he disc we lacked urgency, Pelle got no service, ref was cr@p. Poor overall and re spurs fans were $hit. Onwards
saintalan Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 To sum up today- spurs were first to every second ball seemed to always get the break of the ball in 50 50 tackles, and to be fair to them pressed us very well. We couldnt really cope with the pressing today and struggled for most of the game in my opinion. .. This. The game looked just to pacy for us! TBF I struggled to keep up at times (on a good stream), I thought the effort was there but spuds effort seemed more. One of the things with us under Poch was reportedly our fitness, whether our realtive fitness is not up to that type of play now, I am not sure, it certainly has seemed fine in the style we have played so far this season. I think they deserved the win but it was close and we could have taken our few chances better. Bottom line for me, much happier with Ron in charge.
Graffito Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Just back from game. Thought we were worth a draw. Tough game which got bogged down in midfield. Looked dangerous when we got to the byline which wasn't nearly enough. The ref was poor for both sides but mostly, it seemed against Saints. The yellow in the second half for the foul on Mane. I wasn't sure it was a foul from where I was at the other end but if the ref thought it was a foul then should it have been red? Also, from distance it looked by we won a corner at the end and the prat blew full time.
Dark Munster Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 1. Spurs played well, we were mediocre. 2. Who give a **** that Forster was a bit dodgy with a couple of crosses today? It didn't cost us a goal, and we still have the best defensive record in the league. 3. Why the complaints about big Vic's substitution? At that stage we were desperate for a goal, and shortly afterwards his replacement Long was very much involved in setting up that sitter for Mane (who duly missed). 4. Will RK keep his word and not make shit when we lose?

doddisalegend Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Honestly didn't think spurs were better than us it took a **** up in our defence for them to get something they hardly over ran us with amazing football.
tpbury Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Wish we could've equalised. Not the end of the world. Played OK Brooks was here
Minty Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Interesting that Koeman didn't even think Kaboul fouled Mane, let alone the debate about it being a red or yellow card. I actually quite like that - hopefully he'll be encouraging Mane to stay on his feet a bit more as a result, as he is clearly a tricky player with pace and skill, and if he stays on his feet, maybe he'll be a bit more productive.
DuncanRG Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Both full backs were really poor today. More width and we could have got a grip on the game but Mane and Tadic kept wandering inside where nobody could pick them out. Spurs pinned us back very well
Mowgli Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 On the train back to Liverpool street. Dissapointing. Felt RK needed to make changes earlier than he disc we lacked urgency, Pelle got no service, ref was cr@p. Poor overall and re spurs fans were $hit. Onwards Agree with first bit but we hit our purple patch just as he was considering subs around 60 minutes which would explain the delay. We looked better with Long. Overall game could have gone either way. Not unhappy with performance. Just one of those days when we did not take the chances offered.
Roger Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Both full backs were really poor today. More width and we could have got a grip on the game but Mane and Tadic kept wandering inside where nobody could pick them out. Spurs pinned us back very well Bertrand wasn't poor. Played well and created great chance for mane.
Window Cleaner Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 (edited) Bertrand wasn't poor. Played well and created great chance for mane. Indeed, can't see where the both full backs were poor come from really, Tadic was subdued and Mané blows hot and cold and looks like a bit of a wimp tbh. Wanyama gave the ball away for most of the first half, needed subbing sooner for someone with a bit of poise and control. Edited 5 October, 2014 by Window Cleaner
DuncanRG Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Bertrand wasn't poor. Played well and created great chance for mane. He was better than Clyne but didn't support Mane enough, gave the ball away too often and turned back to Forster as soon as any Spurs player came within a few feet of him. And was quite lucky not to get a card for a flying kick in the second half
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Had a horrible feeling that the wheels were going to come off today. Gutted. Spurs and Liverpool are the two teams I really wanted us to turn over this season. Need to get back to winning ways ASAP.
hypochondriac Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 What a dull game! Still on another day could have nicked a draw but Spurs defended excellently. Never mind though still in a fantastic position. Roll on the next game after internationals.
Joneth Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Unfortunately for us, the Spurs players decided that today was the day they would actually listen to Pochettino and press as a team. It worked well for them and made it difficult for us to play our game. That said, we still broke through several times and created some decent chances including an utterly dismal attempt from Mane and a good chance for Wanyama. Overall, Spurs had to play far better than they have done at any point this season to just about nullify our play and grind out a result. Really not the end of the world, we played well, especially in the second half but Spurs were just a little better today. On to the next!
Saxon Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Got back from the game. Wanyama and Spider gave good performances. Davis, not so sure today, Tadic also had an off day and we won't mention Mane's sitter... Turgid midfield passing and lack of pace and quickness of thought undid us today. Kept taking way too long to get the ball forward, not enough momentum on the counter attack and sloppy passing. There was a really stupid linesman error just before the goal though. The ball went out of play on the left just before Spuds scored (I had a perfect view along with many others) but the linesman was looking the complete other way (not towards the action or the ball but towards us for some reason) so didn't turn his head round in time and missed it. Absolute p1ss-take. Think that had turgid draw written all over it tbh though. Disappointed we lost. We squandered our chances though so no one else to blame. Spurs played ok, but were ultimately better than us when it mattered in the end to get the win, but think we deserved a point. Frustrating. Anyway, international break, hope we get back to winning ways and another run from our game with Sunderland THAT is an important game. We need to bounce back, AND we need to prove the Sunderland curse followed Poch! Come on you Saints!
simo Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 If today's loss gives the players a bit of a grounding and more fire in their bellies to come out firing at home against Stoke and Sunderland I'll take it ,some times you need to be knocked down to come back stronger!
Toon Saint Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Was Mane's miss that much of a sitter? Seen a replay and it's just him being unable to sort his feet out in time with a ball coming at him quickly along the ground. Should have done a lot better, but Lambert's miss against Sunderland away last season was much worse.
Professor Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Watched on a computer stream and to me it was a balanced, hard fought game. Spurs did press hard but our players were up to it and I thought both sides played extremely well at an amazingly fast pace. First half, Spurs hardly had a goal threat. Ultimately, both teams had chances and the difference was that they took one of theirs while we didn't take any of ours.
Avenue Saint Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Spurs fresher and hungrier than us today. 10 changes for them. Tactically 2nd best also. They had muscle and men in middle of park. Thats where game was lost. In 2nd half, where we could easily have taken something, i thought tadic couldve gone number central with long and mane with pace for outside. Tadic lacked pace and never really got better of rose. Has looked tired last 2 games especially qpr where crosses lacked weight and generally sluggish. Mane needs to track back more but understandably will need time to adapt. Pelle no serivce. Wouldve had cork on for 2nd balls for davis. Forster did ok. All in one of those games. Lets win the next couple and smash them at st marys! As soon as jrod is fit, mane needs to go on right, jrod on left with tadic playing middle behind pele making the play .
the saint in winchester Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Poch still lurve de Soussampton. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29498766 Alright, Mopo, we forgive you.
SaintTex Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 As soon as jrod is fit, mane needs to go on right, jrod on left with tadic playing middle behind pele making the play.I feel like Tadic has had his best games on the left. Mane, I believe, prefers the left. Do we have anyone who wants to be on the right?
cellone Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Had a horrible feeling that the wheels were going to come off today.. That's a bit dramatic. We lost 1-0 and nearly equalised a few times. Just wasn't to be.
Dan Johnson Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Watched on a computer stream and to me it was a balanced, hard fought game. Spurs did press hard but our players were up to it and I thought both sides played extremely well at an amazingly fast pace. First half, Spurs hardly had a goal threat. Ultimately, both teams had chances and the difference was that they took one of theirs while we didn't take any of ours. Very much how I saw it too. Although it was a loss, I think the performance was such that it doesnt really take away much momentum. Two home games, 4-6 points and we'll still be floating around the top 4 with a quarter of the season gone which will be impressive
Plastic Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 After banana scored for pool, I had a feeling it may be an unlucky weekend for us! Never mind, let's win the next one.
bristolsaint29 Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Don't like that from Mane - never touched his face - need to stop it! Was right in front of me. Embarrassing to watch and not what I like to see from a saints player.
Mr X Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 F**k off, we were easily worth a point. So you resort to telling me to f off cos you disagree? How articulate, We were poor today too little too late we only really woke up for the last ten minutes
rick1976.4.38 Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 just home after a few beers, have to say that spurs seemed to want it more. thought it was handball by adebyour before they scored and we should have got the free kick. it was a test for us today and unfortunately we couldn't beat them, they are a better team and this is how we need to be to get to the next level. still great start to the season and long way to go as for spurs fans, well what a useless bunch of ******s they are,to call the emirates a library, white hart lane aint far behind,
monosaint Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Just back from the game. A bit scrappy I thought and at times Spurs looked like the away side trying to get us on the break. Some Spurs fans after the game were not impressed by their team. Definitely got a bit bogged down in midfield. They seemed to win more of the second ball. Most of the players seemed slightly below par to me. But a draw would not have been unfair. What a miss by Mane though.
Leicestersaint Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 I think we were worth a point but we did look ragged for quite long periods and could have conceded a second when they hit the post. I was disappointed in some of our players today - Tadic, Pelle (poor service), Davis, mane (in and out), we looked a bit one dimensional. I was surprised that Koeman didn't make further substitutions and earlier to change the shape - don't we have a Plan B?! It was overall a fairly mediocre performance - hopefully we will be back on track for Sunderland and 3 points.
LostBoys Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Just got back. Played poorly against a poor Spurs side - Erikson excepted - and had enough chances to bury them.
pingwing Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 More than good enough today for a draw. Will happily write this off as a decent performance we didn't quite get the result from, which still makes 3rd seem something special! Next 4 games are what counts as they are a lot worse teams on paper
70's Mike Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 you lose games sometimes important think now is Sunderland in 2 weeks

Batman Posted 5 October, 2014 Author Posted 5 October, 2014 See old arry moaning about his squad today. He was complaining that 8 of his players that started today, played in the championship a few months ago Bare bones, innit
Saint Garrett Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 See old arry moaning about his squad today. He was complaining that 8 of his players that started today, played in the championship a few months ago Bare bones, innit Is it not his job to bring in players and prepare for the future. Not just bring in short term fixes? The majority of our team over the last few years played for us in L1 and the NPC.

ART Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 Pochettino has gone to great efforts to show his feelings for Saints over the past weeks. Winning today had nothing to do with his comments. What had a lot to do with the result is the fact that once again Karma and our incapacity to forgive and learn for the past will take it's toll on our future. I was filled with great admiration and respect for Koeman and Pochettino and their ability to show respect for one another. We mocked the Skates and ended up in Administration and only saved by the generosity of Markus Liebherr and his family. Have we still not learned our past lessons. Are we to yet again see Karma teach us more lessons. Koeman showed us today that positivity towards past behavior by Pochettino can overcome all hatred for his departure. I felt ashamed of the chants and knew today we were beaten by a better team put together in our own style. Spurs play today show that imitation is surely the greatest way of flattering our players, and Koeman and what he's doing. There was no shame in today's result, we gave everything and bar a stroke of better luck could have equalised, even won. The shame lies in the fact we are incapable of giving Koeman, the players and everyone in the game, a fan-base he could be proud of away from home.
Jonnyboy Posted 5 October, 2014 Posted 5 October, 2014 The only chant I could hear on the stream was "sit down mauricio."
