Spurs 1 Saints 0 - Match and Reactions Thread

We were struggling anyway so that would only make it worse

Spurs for sure won the midfield today

They have been very good to be fair and we have not been sharp enough.

Once again you prove how little you know Batman, when we bought Wanyama off we were all over them, their midfield was tired and we were in their box with chances. We gave up the midfield with the Wanyama substitution and were then under the cosh with Tottenham all over us directly as a result of that sub. Only chance we then generated was long hopeful balls in behind and Mane having one scuffed shot. Koeman gambled and lost with that sub. We had more chance of winning with the formation we had for most of the second half.

Disappointed to lose that, we certainly had the better chances, but the poor substitution reduced our chances of getting back into it imho. Onwards and upwards, we did catch spuds on a good day and I still don't think there is anything whatsoever between the sides.

Maybe we are destined to just lose to the Judas clubs.

Some wonderful irony on here. Spurs did to us what we did to many teams last season. They didn't let us play, and smothered us. Last season when we did that, we kept calling for people to recognise the fact that it wasn't the teams we beat who had played badly, but that we didn't let them play. Well, QED - that just happened to us.

Credit to Spurs. Just a shame that the first game when Poch really got them going had to be against us.

Onwards and upwards.

We didn't get going today, we couldn't handle Adebeyor and Forster looked dodgy on at least two occasions spilling shots\crosses. I also though Tadic and Pelle had their worst games so far and Mane is just going to be one of those frustrating types. To be fair to Spurs they looked much bigger and stronger than us all over the park.

Probably shows that we are a good side, but end of the day have lost in both league matches against supposedly superior teams in Liverpool and Spurs.

Got a nice run coming up again though and has been a great start to the season.

Still think we lack good attacking options from the bench.

A lot of truth in this.

I thought Spurs utterly average. Our final ball and Mane's shocking finish cost us.

We didn't play that bad. We were away from home against a side that is predicted to finish above us in the league and restricted them to long range shooting all match. Hey unfortunately for us, one of them went in, but 2nd half we were the better side, and had some fantastic opportunities with Wanyama and Mane both missing really good chances. My worries today were Forster who looked nervous, and the fact we didn't get the ball into Pelle at all. Beat Sunderland and Stoke at St. Marys and we will still be having a very good start to the season.

Can't win them all. Spurs were due a win and we were due a defeat. They were just a better team than us on the day in the end.

Of course, the reaction here wouldn't be quite the same had Mane buried that chance near the end. All he had to do was place the ball either side of the keeper but it looked like he didn't even try to hit it. Woeful miss that cost us a point, which would admittedly have been undeserved on the balance of play.

Plus - Mane should've scored, Wanyama could've done better with his effort, too close to Lloris. Chadli hit the post though, but Spurs barely tested Forster second half.

Mane is still getting up to speed, but looks promising. Tadic had an off day, Pelle had nothing to work with because the supply line was cut off.

Put it down to experience.
