The Inside Story (Telegraph)

An insightful article full of new information which all adds up.

For my part I still have two nagging concerns. I still don't understand why the club have said there is no rush to offer Cork a new contract and I am concerned that Jay Rod in not signing a new contract intends to see out his present one and move on.

But from where we were at the beginning of the summer we have progressed way beyond my expectations and those responsible Reed, Krueger, Koeman etc deserve a big pat on the back.

"The core reason is that the club's methods and intellectual property are not concentrated in any individual."

Good. Very healthy for the future as well, not replying on individuals. Possibly also something NC was not happy with. mainly though it and the "Les reed waste of space" thread show that 99% of the posters on internet forums really do not know at all what they are talking about, including the supposed ITKs. And best left that way

It also shows that 99% of journos and pundits don't what they are talking about, they universally predicted the end!

I like that the club does an MI5 type background check on future signings - character and personality are just as important in a team game as technical and physical prowess. They boobed with Danny O and to a certain extent with Gaston, but on the whole have got it spot on. This is why the new lads 'gelled' instantly.

Darlek

Tell me - would you be happier if we went down and you could say 'told you so...'

Or won the league and said ' I was wrong..'

Because u and a few others really confuse me as to if u even like saints or not....?

I would be delighted if I have to say 'I was wrong'. All this talking us up is setting us up for a 'fall'. The media are very fickle.

Good and balanced article.

So Poch assured his new bosses that he could solve their midfield problems for £10M because of a release clause that his former Chairman had told him about?

He must have looked a right tit the day that offer was laughed out of town!

Was that Cortese's final parting gift to us?

Thanks Nicola, it made us chuckle.

I recall Reed talking about how Lovren went through one of the most detailed and comprehensive scouting process in football history. They must have missed the small detail about him being a disloyal ****!

But obviously on average and over time, we will get more right than wrong if we keep it up.

And it can hardly be said Lovren was a bad signing. He played well and was sold for 150% profit.

Osvaldo though....

This is a massive thing in the aussie rules, they spend ages finding out what type of person a potential draftee is before going for them. I was most impressed with the linkage with Oxford uni on the study of hammys etc, sounds like a good idea.

I prefer Crab Lungs more thorough analysis of the mess we are in. I mean, Lallana never got his phone calls returned or nuffink.

Interesting no mention that a few plebs moaning on an Internet forum was the real reason Morgan wasn't sold. Clearly an oversight by the clueless journalist.

Lastly, I think it has been agreed by the forum brains trust that Koeman was just a lucky punt by dopey old Les Reed. Pure lucky luck luck. Disappointed this article doesn't acknowledge this when OldNick has told us all that this is indeed the case.

Funny how an article that is positive is taken as the real deal. All is 100% true apparently. Again you intentionally twist what I said, I said we were lucky that Koeman was available, if he had been tied to a contract there is no way we would have approached him. It would be great to have known what else was on the list Malky Mackay apparently

Did Lovren leave after Chambers, I can't recall?

If you hate this forum and the contributors so much why do you bother to post on here?

An excellent article. Enjoyed reading that .

CB is still smarting from being torn to pieces by SaintBletch.

I suspect there were others apart from Koeman who had been earmarked. Just in case, like.

Except the only person twisting stuff is you.

"Lucky he was available" is a meaningless "twist" by you on the appointment of our new manager by the club. How was Koeman's appointment demonstrably more "lucky" than the appointment of any other manager by any other club in the history of football?

I've asked you to answer that before but you didn't and I am sure you won't this time.

You deride it as lucky because you don't want to give any credit our current regime.

Reporter: How are you enjoying your first season at Liverpool, Adam?

Lallana: I'm lovin' it.

The club should start selling "Lallana burgers", and when Liverpool come down, we need a burger-themed chant ready.

Easy, innit?

I said we were lucky that Koeman was available,

Was it luck? There was a reason why Koeman made himself available. I don't pretend to be ITK, but suspect he had been sounded out already, not just by us, and was determined to make himslef available for a new challenge at a higher level than his much-loved Feyenoord.

Well, it's certainly an interesting article, but may only be 'good' because it portrays the club in a very positive light, no doubt because the club is a source of all the new info.

I do hope it's true. Also, it's good to see some posters (including myself) coming from under the covers to post on the main board. When it's all negative, it gets a bit intimidating to post an opinion when you're not ITK.

I was told of a meeting with Poch and the execs (before he left) Where poch left St Mary's absolutely incandescent and spiiting nails.

At the time I assumed we had just refused Tottenham permission to speak to him,.... Now I would like to think that was the moment he was told it would personally cost him two million quid.:lol::lol::lol:

You can imagine levy telling him to just resign, to avoid any compensation, but it does show (As do other parts of the article) how thorough Cortese was in all aspects of the club, to have included that little clause.

Another titbit I took from the article was Coretse's salary from his final year being published. That will probably wind him up a bit. When the first set of audited accounts (from Coretses tenure) were published, rumour has it, he "flipped like a burger" when the "Highest Paid Director" was listed as a line item - The fact this is a legal requirement makes it all the more amusing, if it is actually true.

Jeremy Wilson does seem to be too informed and well educated to be a journo! He was telling the story on "Sunday Supplement" last week but you got the impression that Ashton and the rest of his cronies didn't really want to listen because it doesn't fit with their agenda. Interesting that he says they've already identified their next transfer targets.

Decent piece with plenty of new facts, though clearly most of the material is sourced from the club, so doesn't give the full picture in important respects.

This is just another puff piece with recycled news, and I'm (going to get vilified for saying this) starting to tire of them a bit.

What I would really love is an investigator to really probe the lead up to the exodus, starting with Judas.

There's a lot of innuendos and deductions about him tipping off the players he was gone well before he had time to decide, basically hanging saints out to dry

Interesting that the article says that on May 26 he said he was not going to Spurs

By the meeting of May 26, he was finally ready. He wanted to leave. Pochettino was asked again about Tottenham. He reiterated that he was not intending to join Tottenham.

Yet there was that twitter picture of him at Spurs training ground 3 days before (May 23rd)

Surely he (and his agent) must have known that picture was doing the rounds.

I can't see how it matters who pays his compensation. The only difference could be a matter of possible income tax but surely any payment would eventually come from Tottenham.
