Batman Posted 1 October, 2014 Posted 1 October, 2014 from today? is that right? you dont have to display it, as long as it is in date and you can pay it online...monthly if required?
Hatch Posted 1 October, 2014 Posted 1 October, 2014 been able to pay online for ages. Only difference I can see, is that a traffic warden or whoever, will now need to key in the car reg on their handheld device to check for valid tax, instead of just a glance at the window.
Dimond Geezer Posted 1 October, 2014 Posted 1 October, 2014 There's also a change when selling a car, the tax is automatically refunded to the current owner, so you can no longer buy a 2nd hand car with x months tax included.
Batman Posted 1 October, 2014 Author Posted 1 October, 2014 so, my valid tax disc no longer needs to be in the window?
Dimond Geezer Posted 1 October, 2014 Posted 1 October, 2014 so, my valid tax disc no longer needs to be in the window? Correct, put a Saints badge in the redundant holder.
Lorne Malvo Posted 1 October, 2014 Posted 1 October, 2014 Correct, put a Saints badge in the redundant holder. You stay classy, San Diego.
sadoldgit Posted 1 October, 2014 Posted 1 October, 2014 Renewed my tax today. Odd not going to have a disc. I wonder if this means more people will be "caught" for other offences now as you would think that wardens will be checking a lot more car registrations!
hutch Posted 1 October, 2014 Posted 1 October, 2014 Give it 5 years and they'll only have to look at your number plate with their google glasses on. #scary
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 1 October, 2014 Posted 1 October, 2014 I understand you will now automaticly get any remaining road tax refunded when you sell your car. My question is: if you buy a car that is taxed, will it not effectively remain taxed as far as the authorities are concerned until the former owner gets around to posting his V5 to the DVLA and they get around to issuing a refund - maybe two or three weeks later in my experience?

And when you sell you will only get a refund of whole months but when you buy a new one you have to pay the full amount. Edited 1 October, 2014 by Whitey Grandad
Patrick Bateman Posted 1 October, 2014 Posted 1 October, 2014 so, my valid tax disc no longer needs to be in the window? Yep, ripped them out of my cars this morning - nice to have cars with clean windows!
