They've had a fall from grace, that's for sure. They looked a decent bet for L1 promotion back then. Eastleigh have had an amazing rise themselves though, would be very interesting to see if they get promoted (tough ask, tbf) and end up playing the skates....

But if anything it shows you how quickly the football landscapes can change, as quickly as you can rise, the rug can get pulled from under you in double quick time. Just enjoy what you have rather than continuously wishing for more.

Eastleigh are playing at home to Bristol rovers tonight in a sell out match,to think it was only 4 years ago that we played them, think we won 4-0 if I remember right.and pardew was sacked 2 days later

Southampton's Aubergine on the pitch and Guly's debut.

Cracking day.

Ups and downs are very true, as any Saints' fan can tell you. After all those years of hanging on to top flight football by the skin of our teeth things looked very positive when Strachan was here, except for the unpopularity of the Chairman, but few would have predicted administration and League 1 so soon after being in the cup final. Pompey's experience even outdoes ours while another up and down ride has been at Salisbury.

I remember playing Rovers at home in L1. Tense game that started the promotion run in. Think it was just after we'd lost away at Rochdale in the midweek before. Only settled late on by Guly. There was some relief around SMS that afternoon.

Massive goal...! That was during the time when Huddersfield kept winning, and winning, and winning.....it was such a great battle. It was very much a case of who blinked first....and neither did! It was just our game in hand which clinched it in the end, Plymouth away I think. Great season.

remember when they beat us 3-2 at SMS with a corker in the final minutes

Was a great goal, living in Bristol and their my dads second team as well.

We were both there and I had an instantaneous sinking feeling the second he received the ball. Utterly buried it!

The A36 was solid Bristol rovers traffic after that game as well.

Hopefully they'll turn it around this season, will be going to watch the Eastleigh game at the Mem for sure.

Awful what has happened to Rovers.

I dragged myself there to watch our utterly feeble 1-0 loss in the FA Cup.

Ironically, I think Rickie scored the goal.

Afterwards, the Rovers fans were utter tossers. One guy came up to me (just me and the girlfriend) and shouted in my face (presumably because I was wearing a Saints scarf)..."F***you...f*ck our crap team....admit it, we deserved to win that!"

I replied..."Yep..you were utterly sh1te, but we were even worse."

He then threatened to get his mates to murder me and gangrape my girlfriend.

So...good...I am glad those "people" are suffering.
