Rubbish. Second in the league playing well and we are pushed down the running order and about 10 mins of the game (did not even show Long's one on one opportunity). We had Phil Neville laughing saying he had us to go down and then when he started talking about us, Lineker interrupted him and asked him about QPR. Come on we need more air time BBC!

Nah keep it low key for as long as possible.

Last season the media went nuts and were spanking over us at every oppurtunity. Mopo started talking about the champions league and then the wheels feel off.

I prefer the modest (2 fingers) approach under RoKo :)

As a neutral, I really wouldn't be that interested in Saints just because they've beaten 4 crap teams. I thought our billing last night was fair enough, if every fan started demanding extended highlights showing every chance, MOTD would be 3 hours long. Just be glad we aren't in League 1 any more, watching 30s of highlights at 1am.

The matches are order on how exciting the game was. Our game was entertaining enough but hardly riveting.

Yes, but they could fit in more action if they didn't do all the tedious analysis. I try to record it and fast-forward through the talking.

Same here. I never watch it live. Without all the ****e analysis you can whiz through the programme in half the time.

I ignore my own opinions on the MOTD running order simply because I am aware 90% of football fans also feel hard done by and think the pundits should be as enamored with the club as they are themselves.

Phil Neville saying QPR should have got something out of the game just about summed it up for me.

He's right QPR did deserve something.. And they got it. They saw 3 great goals and the best team win

What on earth are you expecting? League position has naff all to do with it, they have to pander to the viewing figures and the vast majority of people tuning in to watch are there to see Manu U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal (and possibly man City now)...

We're a small provincial club... get over it....it's a programme with a limited amount of air time.. if you want to purr over our games watch Match choice on sky or something.....

The important thing about the BBC is that they don't have to pander to viewing figures, and if they gave more coverage to other clubs it might redress the balance somewhat and reduce the dominance of the big few.

Well they do, just because they are a public service and don't rely on advertising revenue, they have to ensure their prime time services reach the most amount of people that care (otherwise you'd have the history of Dulux paint on BBC1 at 7pm on Saturdays) , hence they continuously focus on the big clubs... it's not liek they don;t provaided masses of news content on the other clubs (i.e their websites etc), just not on their prime time shows...

True for certain kinds of BBC programming - far fewer than you might think - but not MOTD. At the BBC, careers (behind the camera) can be made or broken by ratings - the regular inquests with execs can be brutal.

The running order is set by two criteria: regional 'balance' (MOTD is broadcast from Salford after all - a monument to the BBC's colossally expensive ambition to prove that it's not London-and-south-east-centred) and quite straightforward journalistic judgement about the 'best stories'.

Coverage of our game was ok - just. Thing that annoyed me most was the pundits going on about how good Chambers and Oxlade-Chamberlain were together in the Arsenal/Spurs game without mentioning us once and one said how Wenger had a reputation for developing young players

I thought it was ok except Man U second?! I mean come on! A mid table team vs a mid table team,,, should of been forth or fifth.

Probably something to do with the England captain scoring then getting sent off, with the England manager looking on.

NEED LESS lets keep how we play a secret and just keep winning

I think it's sad how everyone is so concerned what the "media" think. Just enjoy watching the team being second, who cares what a load of journalists (written and broadcast) think?

Exactly this.

Having had a summer of the media having us in 'crisis' , let's just do our own thing, the Southampton Way, we march on etc etc !!

Totally agree with you. The so-called expert pundits contribute next to sod-all to one's understanding of what goes on in games. Like you I wish they'd stick with Linnekar just introducing the reports. The game commentators add all the detail needed. e usually make some tea whilst the pundits are on but there's a limit to how much tea you can drink at that time of day.

FFS embarrassing again. There are 20 ****ing sides in the PL. We should be first cos we're good.

Why do you worry about running order anyway. Can't you stay awake.

I actually think the running order should be reversed, if they want higher viewing figures for longer. put the cràp teams/games on first and then the more popular and better games at the end....keep people watching for longer.

How many watched WBA v Burnley today? Let's face it people want to see Utd etc. Don't even have any fantasy players in today's or tomorrow's game

Apparently first in the running order for MOTD 2 tonight. Typical media pro-WBA agenda.

Whenever we win I have a modest celebratory beer so yes, I do struggle to stay awake but it's worth it :)

To be fair, like the other week, it was good to see that they'd gotten at least one relevant pundit in! I mean Lennon was perfect to talk about Wanyama the other week and I was hoping Gullit, the former Feyenoord and old friend of Cruyff's would be a great selection too.

A friend of mine, a Palace fan, he wive goes to bed when MOTD comes and he likes it watch porn after Palace have been shown. This one time last season, Palace were on last and his eyes were drooping when he stuck the porn on. He fell asleep with his old fella in his hand, he only woke up when the helicopter he was dreaming about flying, crashed in to the garden of the playboy mansion.

Exactly. I made the same point on the match thread. Look at how many English players there were in the Arsenal team, they said, not noticing that Arsenal had three of our academy players in their team now, (although Walcott is still out for a little longer), and not having enough brain cells to realise that Ramsey is Welsh. And look at how Oxlade-Chamberlain and Chambers have struck up and understanding after so few games together they said, ignoring that they spent years together at our academy.

And as mentioned earlier, just as the thicker Neville brother started to say a few words about us, Lineker interrupted him and changed the subject. I'm boyctting his potato crisps in protest.

Saints are not a media darling club. Never have been and never will be, so short of winning the bloody league we will never be as high up the perceived interest agenda as the more glamourous clubs in the league.

We came close at points last year as the hipster's club of choice and then those same media outlets revelled in our destruction over the summer.
