Coxford_lou Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 I've got a new one: "We have the KaRackter"
InvictaSaint Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 I've got a new one: "We have the KaRackter" Yes, just heard that on MOTD this morning; liked it.
Saint Charlie Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 "Naa, he was not in a physhical way to play."
cellone Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 Wasn't there thread on this the other day? Good job he isn't from Africa or Asia.
kaffeemeister Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 'he bringsh competition to that position', 'phi-lo-so-phy of the club', 'ambeesion', 'thatsh football', 'professionality', 'showes his qualities'
SNSUN Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 For the team. team, team, team. It's the word I've noticed him say a lot.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 After Pelle's goal. He said Thatshh a Keeeper!! ;D
Bearsy Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 I've got a new one: "We have the KaRackter" I genuinely thought he said corrector! I was wondering who "the corrector" was, I thought it was cute Koeman nick-name for Pelle! You know, like when the result is going bad it's ok cos we have "the Corrector" to volley one in and put things right! I'm dumb
Danger Mouse Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 When Gary Lineker interviewed him on last weeks MOTD he finished by saying "Thanking, bye"
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 He's beginning to sound a lot like Steve McClaren.

I shall always think of Pelle now as The Corrector. Can we put it into a song?
david in sweden Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 In his defence... I think he comes over a lot better than Pochettino.....and many of the others " non-Brits " who are managing in the Prem.... and is decidedly more interesting than a few of the English ones .... when you have a limited vocabulary you have to search for good responses when you get new question topics arising at a press conference..and it's not easy to come up with the right response. (It's a bit unkind to make fun of his linguistic faults, when we put up with Pochettino's droll translater for over a year.) Of course, RK's not word perfect, but I like him and his personal style - not to mention the effect he's having on team performances....
Dark Munster Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 His English is a lot better than my Dutch. And his Dutch accent isn't as strong as the Brolly Wally's.

After all, we all love RK (at the moment at least).
cellone Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 Are these phrases he often uses or The fact he has a Dutch accent?
Charlie Wayman Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 Great pis,s take lads but how much Dutch do you know? Personally I love listening to the man who just exudes common sense and good nature. We'll never have a better guy than this at the helm so relish him whilst we have him.
whelk Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 I am disappointed he isn't constantly signing off with "Thanking. Bye bye."
Sour Mash Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 Are these phrases he often uses or The fact he has a Dutch accent? Yeah I don't really get the point being made here. Is it just some think he has a 'funny' accent?
cellone Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 Yeah I don't really get the point being made here. Is it just some think he has a 'funny' accent? The other thread found amusement in the fact RK pronounced ambition as ambishion.
SuperMikey Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 I am disappointed he isn't constantly signing off with "Thanking. Bye bye." I recorded that on my phone when I saw that on MOTD. Although I had it down more as "Thankee. Bye bye". Maybe his English teacher is from Zumerzett?
Ohio Saint Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 Mrs Koeman has the best Koemanism "**** off!"
InvictaSaint Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 I wish I could speak Dutch half as well as RK speaks our language!
so22saint Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 He's beginning to sound a lot like Steve McClaren. Ha ha - that actually made me do a lol :-)
Patrick Bateman Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 I wish I could speak Dutch half as well as RK speaks our language! Agree!

Of course, RK's not word perfect, but I like him and his personal style - not to mention the effect he's having on team performances.... Hey David - oh no, you misunderstand! We adore Koeman, and find his quotes completely charming. They kind of help make him become more iconic. I said in another thread, I love it when a reporter throws a difficult question at him, then he responds with a shrug and says "but that's football". His quirk of phrase and Dutch accent makes it more endearing. No different than when we used to discuss Nigel Adkin's quotes, although, to be honest, even though English isn't his first language, Koeman certainly sounds a lot smarter than Adkins. I have a Dutch housemate - we often repeat each other's quirky accent (her favourite of mine is "twitter" without the the "tt"s). Still, I feel in awe of Saintsweb that someone would pick me up for thinking I'm being unkind. This place is so civilised !

Got to love this guy, whether you find his accent or little sayings endearing or not, he just comes across as 110% in calm, complete, control and nothing will stress him. All very politely in a "been there and done it" kind of way IMO, that Mopo does not have. Brilliant
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 29 September, 2014 Posted 29 September, 2014 Joey Barton adapted to France more easily

I think most find it endearing. I will never fault anyone who is genuinely attempting to master a second language. It's admirable. And I like him and his personal style as well. He definitely has a calming, confident presence without a hint of arrogance. Perfect for this club.
influx Posted 29 September, 2014 Posted 29 September, 2014 If we were losing then there would be a thread about his annoying accent!
Bucks Saint Posted 29 September, 2014 Posted 29 September, 2014 Yeah, forget Pelle, I've definitely got a crush on Koeman ahh, makes sense now, wondered why you were studying the subs bench so much last week
Webby Posted 29 September, 2014 Posted 29 September, 2014 He says what sounds like 'position' a lot, but I'm sure he means 'possession'. "we had, aaah, good position."

I had hoped that most of the comments were kinder to RK rather than critical. Perhaps it's a bit close to home for me ....as I've helped teach / coach/ people with their speeches, presentations ...and even TV appearances in Sweden ..(for the last 30 years). It's pretty hair-raising for some, and Swedes in particular, who take that sort of thing very seriously. I'm pleased to see that Ronald is a bit more " laid-back " in his interviews .. but nevertheless I think he does well (all things considered)...especially as English is not his mother-tongue. At least, he makes more sense than a few other Prem. managers I could name who have the advantage of having been born " British " ....yet don't express themselves quite so well.
