Saints Fan Dan Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Fantastic! Playing a full strength squad in a cup tie, coming from behind to win and winning 5 in a row. Who the fück is Pochettino? And Lallana and co. are taken into extra time by Middlesborough
Patrick Bateman Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Could have been 2-4 as well - great stop by Forster but Tadic and Pelle both missing a treat each - we'll let them off
aintforever Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Great result. Mane looks like an awesome signing, exactly what we need.
broken spoke Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 looking forward to the Game at home on Saturday.... we were great tonight...
grezz Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 How did Mane play? I missed all but the last 10 minutes of the match. Thought Morgan was solid at the end there when we needed him most. He was threatening and he worked his ass off. It didn't quite come off for him tonight but you can see that it will. He's gonna be awesome.
Bewildered Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Excellent result and performance. Mané looks to have the potential to be a real threat when he adjusts to the English game Gardos was outstanding, our options at CB are much better this season if we have a CB of that ability as 3rd choice. Targett was also outstanding. But for some better finishing we could have won that 3 or 4-1.
scotty Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 I cannot remember the last cup game when with 5 minutes to go and a team like arsenal chucking everything at us, and thinking "they aren't going to score." I really can't. Terrific effort from the team, well chuffed tonight.
hasper57saint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Quite a few of the so-called biggies are now beginning to take note of the threat we now pose them.Very proud to be a Saint tonight.
jawillwill Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 So we're about all our big money departures in the league and we could be the only one left in the cup soon too (United out, Arsenal out, Liverpool into ET, Spurs playing tomorrow). But we're still light years away from being good according to Holloway.
Patrick Bateman Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Great result. Mane looks like an awesome signing, exactly what we need. He does, based on the only match I've ever seen the guy play, he could be very very good indeed!
sentry Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Koeman for the banner? Great result, I really wanted us to take the cups seriously last year and Poch or the club did not. I the prem league now a days to get top 6 is tough and needs money money money so the best clubs like us and most of the league can hope for is a decent cup run or maybe wembly! Koeman played a strong team but still with youth and new players added to the mix and still gets a great result!
stknowle Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Hell yeah loved that. Brilliant performance. The solidity of our midfield is a match for anyone in this league. Now get some rest before mullering QPR.
Goatboy Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 What an appalling start to the season we've had. If only we could have kept Cortese, Poch, Dejan, Adam etc etc. I don't know where we go from here. Such a depressing time to be a Saints fan. Firesale and meltdown, Kat skimming off the lolly and some Canadian ruining the club with the aid of Les Reed. Yoyo strategy and ignoring the cup competitions it is then. Lols.
pangy Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Gardos looked very good and composed,Mane made a good impression and Tadic as always was just superb. Its like we are in dreamland at the minute after the summer we had, literally beaming from ear to ear Can't wait for us to stick it to twitch at the weekend
Stu Man Do Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Wow doesn't come close to summing that up. The papers will no doubt highlight their weakened defence but with their injury list it isn't that far from the first team. Saints looked up for it and tactics were spot on by RK. Mane; looks like one hell of a player! Gardos also hugely impressive. The whole team looked happy to be out there and they really are a joy to watch. Bournemouth at home in the next round please would be great to see!
Lighthouse Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Man Utd, Arsenal and Everton out, Liverpool making a meal of it, Poch apparently not interested in cups. If we can avoid City and Chelsea we might have a chance at this.
Chez Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 At last we look like we actually are interested in the cup. Brilliant. Can't wait for the draw.
LaptopSaint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Brilliant. F%cking brilliant. We have real strength in depth at the back now - Forster is a brick sh!t house, Targett was great, Gardos was cooler than a cool mush from cooltown, and Nat Clyne is so much better than Johnson, Stones, Chambers and whoever else Woy's got his paws on that it's not even funny. Tadic brilliant, Mane looks really tasy, Pelle didn't have his best game but causes bother and is always having a go, Morgan + big Vic taking the Ar$e midfield... Ladies, gentlemen, and forum trolls - we have ourselves a team! COYFR!!!
Mr X Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 lallanna or Tadic?..................................... you decide!
SNSUN Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Who'd have thought it, a Premier League team playing a near full team actually progressing in the League Cup! If Koeman's priority is the cups, he's sure going the right way about it! Lovely win despite the missed chances, and a lovely goal from Clyne. Hodgson you blind bastard, wtf does Nathaniel have to do to get some recognition? Through to to the last 16. 4 matches to win guys, 4 matches to win....
broken spoke Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 is the highlights of the cup games tonight going to be shown on normal tv?
DaveyR Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Awesome, that was still a very good Arsenal side at the emirates
SaintRobbie Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Bloody marvellous. Koeman brothers, Watson and the great Sammy Lee are bloody marvellous.
ExSt Peter Saint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Dare I say Clyne's goal was a little Koeman-like! How is he getting all our players to have such a goal threat? Well, nearly all... Chuffed with this team and the way the club is going. How could we ever have doubted them?
SNSUN Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 is the highlights of the cup games tonight going to be shown on normal tv? Tomorrow night on the Beeb.
Turkish Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Fantastic win against a decent arsenal side. Superb.
trousers Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Again, hodgson will need section ing if he leaves out Clyne for the next squad This
broken spoke Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Tomorrow night on the Beeb. thanks...
St Chalet Posted 23 September, 2014 Author Posted 23 September, 2014 Poll added. Was tempted to stick Koeman as the 14th option. Having balls to play strong side and tactics spot on.
Bearsy Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Nice! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2767086/Arsenal-1-2-Southampton-Dusan-Tadic-Nathaniel-Clyne-bring-Saints-send-Gunners-Capital-One-Cup.html
pangy Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 And we all questioned where the goals would come from
davefoggy Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 We are very good, we are very good, we are very, we are very, we are very good !!!!!!!! Get in there!!!! COYR!!!!!!
Matt_the_cat Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 great game! mane fits in just perfectly!
Goatboy Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Schneiderlin Agree. Thought he was great tonight.
SNSUN Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Man Utd, Arsenal and Everton out, Liverpool making a meal of it, Poch apparently not interested in cups. If we can avoid City and Chelsea we might have a chance at this. Sounds weird, but I'd rather play those two in the earlier rounds while they're playing their reserves/youth. If they get to the semis there's a chance they'll start putting their first teams out just to win a bit of silver wear they have little interest in.
Mr X Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 chuffed as hell but we've all seen the wheels come off at saints at anytime so lets not count our eggs just yet, only a few games in! but the signs look good
saint lard Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Holy crap we are good.....it just gets better. Dreamland.....and I don't want to wake up. We are surpassing last season....incredible after the transfer window.......we are stronger! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dan Johnson Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Genuinely Tadic over Lallana Gardos & Toby over lovern & chambers Pelle over Lambert Koeman over Poch I'm in dream land
trousers Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Poll added Schneiderlin for me. Totally controlled midfield.
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Mane really caused them problems, quick, good feet, looks dangerous. Really excited by him. Gardos, looks classy, looks awesome. Was so happy with Alderweireld but looking at this guy he looks just a assured. Great options at the back now. Targett, looks good. Quick, good positioning, eager, strong in the tackle, good prospect. Other than that the team had a swagger to it, kept the ball when required, tried to hit on the break and once they lost possession worked hard to get behind the ball. Koemans really got them working well together. Ok, it was a weak arsenal team but they were pumped up, and we shrugged them off. Ill see you at Wembley
davefoggy Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 chuffed as hell but we've all seen the wheels come off at saints at anytime so lets not count our eggs just yet, only a few games in! but the signs look good Boooo! Killl joy!
Bearsy Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Might have been a tougher game if some of their big guns like Podolski were playing
Miltonaggro Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Brilliant just brilliant, pure class and entertainment! Patronise that Wenger you sour faced c*nt!...
