Hatch Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 not long to go now.. I love this competition. Utterly compelling. Closer it gets, the more I fancy the States to nick the victory.
barney Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Yeah i agree,Think they will want it just a little bit more after Medina. Hope im wrong though.
Halo Stickman Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Yep, I agree with you on both counts. It really is a compelling event and I’ve a feeling the USA might win this time – although I really hope they don’t because I enjoy seeing them lose almost as much as I enjoy seeing Europe win
Upwind Posted 24 September, 2014 Posted 24 September, 2014 My favourite sporting event... Can't beat the drama and excitement. Think that Team Europe will do it again - really like Paul McGinley as a Captain
Benali Saint Posted 26 September, 2014 Posted 26 September, 2014 Dont really do Golf. But i love the Ryder Cup.
Hatch Posted 26 September, 2014 Author Posted 26 September, 2014 up in all 4 in the afternoon foursomes at the moment, would be nice to stay that way.
stevegrant Posted 26 September, 2014 Posted 26 September, 2014 Completely blew it this morning, what should have been a 3-1 lead ended up as a 2.5-1.5 deficit Great idea to pair the two weakest players together as well
sussexsaint Posted 26 September, 2014 Posted 26 September, 2014 Dont really do Golf. But i love the Ryder Cup. this
ericofarabia Posted 26 September, 2014 Posted 26 September, 2014 Can't get excited by Golf at all. They tell the crowd to be silent and then place a friggin TV helicopter overhead the player about to play his shot!! I want to kick the TV in each time I hear some twonk shout out "In The Hole" Dubai Phil is creaming himself though!!
eurosaint Posted 27 September, 2014 Posted 27 September, 2014 10 - 6 Reckon we have enough to get the 4 points we need! COE !!
Sour Mash Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 Why the divide of Europe versus USA? What the history or relevance behind that?
Batman Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 Why the divide of Europe versus USA? What the history or relevance behind that? it used to be UK v USA many decades ago. But UK (and ireland) got beat lots and lots. so in the late 70's it was opened up to europe or something like that
Patrick Bateman Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 Why the divide of Europe versus USA? What the history or relevance behind that? I absolutely hate golf and this dull spectacle of an event, but I asked the same question. Surely it's a win-win for the USA as if they win, they beat a "number of countries combined", but if they lose, no big deal as it took the whole of Europe to beat them. I don't get it.

I'm not into Golf at all, but trying to watch a bit of this and just couldn't figure out how and why this would be a big rivalry. Do Canada not have any decent golfers to at least make it one continent versus the other?

Just from my novice eye, try act like they own golf and are very tedious.
Whitey Grandad Posted 28 September, 2014 Posted 28 September, 2014 job done. Too late for me, I came in from cutting the grass and turned on to see the exciting climax. Who won?
Benali Saint Posted 29 September, 2014 Posted 29 September, 2014 Well Happy with Europe winning the Ryder cup again. 2 Years until I have any interest in golf again

Halo Stickman Posted 29 September, 2014 Posted 29 September, 2014 11 on a par 4 is never a pretty sight.

I guess that if you don't like golf anyway then there is almost no chance that you'll 'get it' ! For people like me though it is the 'greatest show on Earth', I just love it and find it utterly enthralling ! No surprise that there are differing opinions but I cannot wait for the next one in two years time at Hazeltine in Minnesota ! Bring it on.....
