paulwantsapint Posted 21 September, 2014 Posted 21 September, 2014 Anyone know what JWP done & how long he is going to be out? Guess his misfortune gives someone else their chance to impress
Ewell Posted 21 September, 2014 Posted 21 September, 2014 I would guess from Koeman's comment after the tests were completed by the medical team that they have an idea that the damage is not too bad. The only true way to tell though is to wait for the swelling to go down and have a scan. I's guess he would not be risked against Arsenal though. ames Wards-Prowse left the stadium in a protective boot after being carried off in the second half, but Koeman said he did not think the injury was too serious, http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/11486683.Koeman_praises_Wanyama_s_influence/?ref=mac
Toon Saint Posted 21 September, 2014 Posted 21 September, 2014 Watched scraps of the second half on a crappy stream but saw this incident. Looked a bit innocuous at first, JWP went in for a tackle (quite hard actually) and seemed to get tangled underneath the other players legs, though no evidence of anything twisting really. He got up and started walking away fine, only then to pull up feeling something in his foot. Thought he was just stretching his legs out out because of cramp at first, but seemed to be feeling something either along the sole of his foot or at the back of his ankle. Reckon it could be an achilles injury but medical staff have already told Koeman it doesn't look too serious so I don't expect him to be out for too long. Should give Reed a chance to get more involved with the match-day squad in the meantime.
Whitey Grandad Posted 21 September, 2014 Posted 21 September, 2014 He seemed to be saying 'I can't walk'.
Asaint4ever Posted 21 September, 2014 Posted 21 September, 2014 I really wish jwp a speedy recovery but I'd rather see Davies play anyway.
Weston Saint Posted 21 September, 2014 Posted 21 September, 2014 Southampton FC retweeted James Ward-Prowse @Prowsey16 3 hrs Great result for us yesterday. Thanks for all the support! hoping it's not too serious, will let you know after the scan! #saintsfc
tpbury Posted 21 September, 2014 Posted 21 September, 2014 JWP should've taken the free kick where it was the same position he got the cracker for U21s. Would've boosted his confidence. He needs a bit more time for first team, and this injury could actually benefit him.
SuperSAINT Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Out for 12 weeks apparently (Acoording to Koeman on Solent)
Monk Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Didn't know anything about this, gutted for the lad.
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Really sorry to hear that, was starting to look very good in that midfield. A real shame that.
farawaysaint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Aw crap, you can tell there's a good player in there. I hope he recovers well.
trousers Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Gutted for JWP but creates an opening for Reed to push for inclusion in the first team squad
Dalek2003 Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Out for 12 weeks apparently (Acoording to Koeman on Solent) 5 Live said 6 weeks.
DuncanRG Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 What a shame. Trust him to come back strong
alpine_saint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Out for 12 weeks apparently (Acoording to Koeman on Solent) Ouch.
VectisSaint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Suggests it was metatarsel as the commentators speculated at the time.
Colinjb Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Look forward to him coming back stronger, a chance for our other squad members in the mean time.
CanadaSaint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 I suspect that this will be the new injury of the season this year. The new boots are so lightweight that they afford little protection against injuries like this. Perhaps it's time for the clubs to write something into player contracts preventing them from signing endorsement deals to wear unsafe footwear. After all, it's the clubs' expensive asset sitting on the sidelines.
Matthew Le God Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Out for 12 weeks apparently (Acoording to Koeman on Solent) BBC Solent Sport @solentsport #saintsfc boss Koeman on @Prowsey16 “has a stress fracture on his foot, he'll be out between 10-12 weeks, it’s a disappointing situation” https://audioboom.com/boos/2503725-saintsfc-boss-ronald-koeman-talks-to-bigadamsport-after-2-1-win-at-arsenal
KingdomCome Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Bad news bears. At least the squad has options.
Lazlo78 Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 So it begins. This is one injury we can cover having Davis, Cork, Morgan, and Wanyama already fighting for three places in the middle. But once several injuries start adding up, we could be in trouble. Let's hope for a speedy recovery for JWP and if we can avoid injuries to the other central midfielders in the meantime, we shouldn't lose too much ground on the basis of this injury (like Gazza for Boruc or Hooiveld for Lovren/Fonte)...
washsaint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 As others have said, maybe opens the door for Reed to get some minutes and show what he is capable of. Very disappointing for JWP - many on here don't seem keen on him yet he keeps getting lavish praise from ex-players, managers, etc. so he is doing more right than wrong

Yoshida, Toby, JWP and J-Rod are all out and we're still golden for options. Gotta love increased squad depth. (Just hope Clyne doesn't get injured ).
Wiggles31 Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Sh!t that's annoying. Harrison Reed might get a chance now?
austsaint Posted 23 September, 2014 Posted 23 September, 2014 Rotten luck for the lad, but if you go purely on form shown this season, and the depth we have in midfield, he won't be missed all that much.
LostBoys Posted 24 September, 2014 Posted 24 September, 2014 Very disappointed i hope he recovers quickly

Lorne Malvo Posted 24 September, 2014 Posted 24 September, 2014 Whats up with Yoshi ? In a wheelchair after being assaulted last weekend.
Wrensup Posted 24 September, 2014 Posted 24 September, 2014 It's alright, the longer he's out the better he'll become.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 24 September, 2014 Posted 24 September, 2014 @Prowsey16: Gutted to be out for a few weeks but I'll work hard to bounce back stronger. Thanks for all the amazing support !!
Webby Posted 24 September, 2014 Posted 24 September, 2014 I suspected it might have been a metatarsal at the time. Come back soon Prowsey!
Lorne Malvo Posted 24 September, 2014 Posted 24 September, 2014 At least its his left foot, he never uses it.
