Minty Posted 19 September, 2014 Share Posted 19 September, 2014 Shane Long has not scored either and probably will never be prolific but, as a sort of Irish Emile Heskey, he is already proving a pain for defenders and a handy addition. LOL! I wouldn't be having that if I were Shane...
sadoldgit Posted 19 September, 2014 Share Posted 19 September, 2014 Perhaps we should rename our bedwetters The Prophets of Doom?
sadoldgit Posted 19 September, 2014 Share Posted 19 September, 2014 Good to read a balanced, non-hysterical piece after the weeks of doom-mongering from the likes of the Mail and Mirror. Of course, as he points out, it is way to early to get carried away but the signs so far are very encouraging.
Lorne Malvo Posted 19 September, 2014 Share Posted 19 September, 2014 Claude Le Roy, to trumpet Mané as a future Ballon d’Or winner. O Rly?

Wes Tender Posted 20 September, 2014 Share Posted 20 September, 2014 Not only was the article very fair and positive, but also the comments on it were generally very complimentary about us too.
Saint_clark Posted 20 September, 2014 Share Posted 20 September, 2014 As you say nothing we (as saints fans) don't already know, but this article will be news to a lot of fans of other clubs who might still be under the impression we're a weak side. Ultimatt Posted 20 September, 2014 Share Posted 20 September, 2014 "Graziano Pellè has proved an instant hit at Southampton after his summer move from Feyenoord." He was an instant failure for some... The more tackles/intercepts this year is likely linked to us having less possession. We don't retain it as much so have to win it back more often. Have a lot of possession is all very well but you need to do something with it. When you win the ball back and counter teams are more likely to be pulled out of shape. If you are stroking the ball around teams have time to get behind the ball and make penetration more difficult.
adrian lord Posted 20 September, 2014 Share Posted 20 September, 2014 Lovely article and I for one am pleased that my worst fears for the season have been groundless so far. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Ultimatt Posted 20 September, 2014 Share Posted 20 September, 2014 I agree. Just pointing out that those particular stats (tackles/intercepts) don't mean much since it means your team is losing the ball more often to be able to win it back more often.
