I seem to remember a webcam being set up at the construction site at some point. Did that really happen?

Yep, there was definitely a webcam setup at at the time. I remember going along and standing on a viewing platform and thinking how small it looked at the time.

Great pics glad you shared them ! Remember going down and speaking to somebody on site ( don't know who ! ) saying that we had the potential to put the biggest pitch in there if we wanted I was so impressed and then going to the opening game and not believing this was our new stadium ! Brilliant memories thanks norm !

Awesome, thanks Norm! Did you post them on the old Saintslist days? I remember very similar pics going up then, loads of excitement when the first slap of concrete steps went in

Cheers for that me think of my mate Bruno who I have seen less frequently since he retired and both of us have moved. He is Saints mad, and has been since moving here from Italy in his early 20s, we both went to an evening game down the Dell and as we had time to spare I took him to the visitor centre and viewing platform, he would never have gone there himself, I had trouble dragging him away to the game as after so many false dawns of a new stadium he was in awe at actually seeing it being built before his very own eyes.

So glad these pictures are still around. I remember fondly the website which showed latest pictures, updates to work and a webcam.

 

Was SO exciting at the time. 'Wow - that builder is stood where the centre circle will be!'
