SFC Chris Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 Oh dear.... http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/former-celtic-goalie-artur-boruc-4286032
SFC Chris Posted 19 September, 2014 Author Posted 19 September, 2014 Did he? Just reported up here today. Apologies if it's been discussed on here before... haven't been on much lately.
The9 Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 Wow, you'd think the Daily Record would have something else to report today. Yeah, that Titanic thing was after the first match when he wasn't in the squad but before the transfer window closed. So at least 3 weeks old.

VectisSaint Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 Never seen it mentioned before either. Bad taste for someone in Southampton though, not sure the Daily Record quite understood the Southampton link.
Smirking_Saint Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 There are a lot of delicate flowers in the world
Alain Perrin Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 Is this really an issue, or just a result of our "someone's offended somewhere" culture? Granted there might be some living relatives of survivors but no one alive who knew someone who perished. Of those, I doubt any are on Twitter. I all for outrage but there are plenty of other current issues to be outraged about.

I all for outrage but there are plenty of other current issues to be outraged about. I think it's potentially a pretty offensive joke to Sotonians with relatives who died on the Titanic. Certainly ill-advised for someone earning his living performing in front of 30,000 of the likely target audience every other week, However, it was clearly designed to offend, and from someone who tangibly isn't bothered who he offends, which is why most people just ignored it. It was posted on the evening of 20th August, btw, so it's 4 weeks old.

Your link explains why people had not seen anything on Twitter, because it wasn't on Twitter.

Im not entirely sure it was 'designed' to offend as such, Id also argue it really isnt that offensive, but then these days there is always someone somewhere ready to play the victim
Patrick Bateman Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 It is old news, but I thought it was amusing. Maybe I have bad taste too.

Mind plenty of Saints supporters way back in the bad days when we had sunk to League 1 and went into administration were comparing us to the Titanic.
Saint_clark Posted 20 September, 2014 Posted 20 September, 2014 I think there's a difference between saying something is going down like the titanic and saying 'i nominate all passengers (of the titanic) for the ice bucket challenge'. Maybe just me, but the reference to the boat is less offensive than the passengers. Honestly don't know how he could have thought this was a good idea.
Restark19 Posted 20 September, 2014 Posted 20 September, 2014 Funny how this comes up the day we ship him out on loan, no?
