Bearsy Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Putting mayonnaise on chips is gross & weird IMO. If you also put mayonnaise on your chips, like R.Koeman does, mention it here so that I know which posters is gross+weird.

It is pretty common to have mayo on your chips in Holland, is all Hollanders gross+weird?
Ohio Saint Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Mayo on chips is a euro thing, and is tasty! I just loves chips though.
Lorne Malvo Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Chips and Garlic Aioli for me, Daddies sauce second.
Bearsy Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Chips and Garlic Aioli for me, Daddies sauce second. These strike me as acceptable options! Mayonnaise is tantamount to putting butter on your chips, or in a more stomach-turning development, jizz.
buctootim Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 These strike me as acceptable options! Mayonnaise is tantamount to putting butter on your chips, or in a more stomach-turning development, jizz. Ailoi is mayonnaise dumb bear!
Bearsy Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Oh is it? It was the garlic motif that appealed to me! I take it all back. Lorne Malvo is gross+weird
Goatboy Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 When in Holland I eat mayo with chips. Not here though. I also heart febo. Wish we could have febo at St Marys. Takes the whole dealing with a f*cktard out of the transaction.
hasper57saint Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Kartoffel-chips und Mayonnaise is very popular in Germany and has been for quite a while.
Dark Munster Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 There's only one thing that can be put on chips.
Ohio Saint Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Kartoffel-chips und Mayonnaise is very popular in Germany and has been for quite a while. Hitler was popular in Germany too........did I really just go there?
Ohio Saint Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 There's only one thing that can be put on chips. we all know that salad cream is better than mayo......just don't tell the rest of the world.

If you also put mayonnaise on your chips, like R.Koeman does, mention it here so that I know which posters is gross+weird. When in Holland (or Belgium). It is not the same as Mayo in this country though. Dutch fries and mayo is not gross.
VectisSaint Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 we all know that salad cream is better than mayo......just don't tell the rest of the world. Oh FFS, now we are really talking complete lack of taste, ****e in a bottle.
Patrick Bateman Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 These strike me as acceptable options! Mayonnaise is tantamount to putting butter on your chips, or in a more stomach-turning development, jizz. Don't you ever have a proper chip butty with loads of butter on the bread?
Saint_Abroad Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 I put chips on my mayonnaise. Egg yolks, oil and vinegar yuuuummmmmm.
TwoPints Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 I've never been to Holland therefore I've never been force fed chips with mayonnaise. Just good old salt works for me (maybe a nice butty too). It helps keep my blood pressure up too.

pap Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Mayo on chips is just one of the things the Dutch get right.
SW5 SAINT Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Mayo with chips is the only way to eat chips, I learnt that one during a week in Antwerp with the Navy about 30 years ago.
Bearsy Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 hi guise I'm hearing the support mayo on chips is getting and i feel both embarrassed & guilt for sneering at this combo, when i haven't even tried it! I am just instinctively repelled by the idea, it makes me feel ill just to think of it like i.e. anal sex with my sister. I will however bow to peer pressure and try this asap! I will also try mayo on chips
The Cat Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 I used to live with a strange bloke who would eat mayonnaise on toast.
JakkoUK Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Don't see the problem with mayo on chips at all & can't see how anyone can even perceive it as disgusting. Great combo!
scotty Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 As we're clearly all gourmets here, could I just add grated cheese and salad cream sandwich to this list of abominations. A proper chip sandwich should only be served with butter, ketchup and a splash of vinegar. And salt. And bits, if the chippies still do them.

I will also try mayo on chips Bear take a trip to Bruges this winter, take in the sights, drink some interesting beers, buy some souvenirs and Chocolates. Then go to the Chip cart in the main square by the clock tower and ask for chips and mayonnaise: Mmmmmmmmm if you try it here make sure it's not cheapo nasty mayo.
Dark Munster Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 we all know that salad cream is better than mayo......just don't tell the rest of the world. I wish someone would tell the Yanks, because it's bloody hard to find here. Which is a bit strange since Heinz is American.

A proper chip sandwich should only be served with butter, ketchup and a splash of vinegar. And salt. And bits, if the chippies still do them. lovely+unweird . I would buy your cookbook. Mrs Polaroid does the Mayo and Chip thing and I tolerate it. Although if she leaves any for me, I do of course wipe them down first on the sofa, curtains, face. The usual.

Bailey Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Unusual for so many people to name their source on here...
SuperMikey Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 I love me some fritessaus. When in Rome (or Amsterdam), do as the Romans do (get drunken McDonalds at 3am).
vince Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 There's only one thing that can be put on chips. This with baked beans. HTH.
SarniaSaint Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Anyone tried Poutine? Fries, Gravy and Cheese its great and a Canadian staple.
Whitey Grandad Posted 18 September, 2014 Posted 18 September, 2014 Remoulade, a danish culinary delight. http://www.danishfooddirect.co.uk/original-remoulade-sauce-375g.html?gclid=CJv0lbTy68ACFQsKwwod0qkAGw
offix Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 mayonaise is great on chips (but then I grew up in Amsterdam) But in Holland you can also get peanut-sauce on your chips. Absolutely awesome!
Coxford_lou Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 Home made mayo is the best and very easy to make... Egg yolks and mustard, + olive oil, lemon and white wine vinegar. None of the crap that's in supermarket mayo, and tastes amazing. Try it! http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/eggs-recipes/my-beautiful-mayo
Mikey88 Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 Putting it out there, Thai sweet chili sauce and cheese is the best sandwich going.
ericofarabia Posted 19 September, 2014 Posted 19 September, 2014 I think we need to differentiate between Good Old Soggy English Chip Shop Chips which most definitely do not go with Mayo, but are great soaked in salt and vinegar, and the Continental / Fast Food Chain Crispy French Fries, which are okay with Mayo and Ketchup, but gross with vinegar.
