Mouldy Coat Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 Amazing number of passes before the 4th goal versus Newcastle, probably as many consecutive passes that I can remember before a goal. Does anyone know what the record for Saints?
Crab Lungs Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 There was a brilliant goal in the Champ v Boro iirc
angelman Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 In fairness though, it was in the last minute, NUFC had given up knowing that the game was lost. There was no pressing, just sitting back waiting for the final whistle.
Bucks Saint Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 Would love to see that again. MOTD only showed about 10 passes or so, understandable I guess as they had to devote a lot of time to the big teams below us in the table
nta786 Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 33 passes yes- but the one from Pelle was orgas*ic
Mouldy Coat Posted 14 September, 2014 Author Posted 14 September, 2014 If it had been Arsenal or Liverpool, MOTD would have shown every single pass and crow about it got weeks. Yes it was only Newcastle and already 3-0 up but what a team effort
S-Clarke Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 33 passes yes- but the one from Pelle was orgas*ic Yeah, that was pretty special. Ibrahimovic esq!
Kingsland Codger Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 I counted around a few more passes, around 39 or 40, the full version was on the Sky showing last night.
saintalan Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 http://sportsnationhd.com/view.php?pg=streams Go To Video On Demand and slide to the end or watch the whole game:) Only need tp pay for Live HD games

Gemmel Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 . Does anyone know what the record for Saints?
Saint Garrett Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 Only one which comes close I can think of is Connolly vs Boro. 27 or something I think?
Saint-Armstrong Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 @TomC_SFCMedia: Stats on #SaintsFC's fourth goal: 41 passes, 1 minute 45 seconds of uninterrupted possession, all 11 players involved. On website later.
Mouldy Coat Posted 14 September, 2014 Author Posted 14 September, 2014 Can admin please change to 41, I stand corrected!! Will take some effort to beat that this season
Ohio Saint Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 It seems that some don't count distribution from FF. If you include him, then yeah, 40 something passes.... But really, they were just tapping it around at the end of the game for the most part. Not like it was a move or anything. The end result WAS orgasmic though!

TwoPints Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 But think of the tidal wave of jizz had Utd, Spurs, Pool or Barca done it... This. If Man Utd had of done that we'd be hearing about it for weeks in Talksport. As it was Saints, it won't even get a mention.
croydonsaint Posted 14 September, 2014 Posted 14 September, 2014 I wasn't counting but there were 2 or 3 periods of play v West Ham where we had similar periods of play. Definitely the Koerman effect. I am not saying I did not enjoy how we played last season but am enjoying it more at the moment. The most exciting thing is that last season we lost our way when we had a few key injuries, ie. Wanyama and Boruc . I don't see this causing the same problems this season so could see us on more points than last season with the options we have in the squad now. Its great watching how players can see 2 or 3 options around them when it comes to the final pass. I wonder when the pundits will start realising whats happening down here at the moment.

Fitzhugh Fella Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 proof of the 41 passes http://wall.saintsfc.co.uk/Article/783223-VIDEO-Schneiderlins-stunner-caps-41-pass-move
ericofarabia Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 All 11 players involved in the move as well - totally amazing! Stattos ..... has his ever been done before in Th Prem .... or anywhere else? Schexxy Football.
Saint_Ash Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 proof of the 41 passes http://wall.saintsfc.co.uk/Article/783223-VIDEO-Schneiderlins-stunner-caps-41-pass-move Just sublime, even if you take out the punt up field by Forster it's still mid to late thirties ov composed passing. Love the back heel flick from Tadic.
Danbert Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 Love the back heel flick from Tadic. Wasn't that Pelle?
Wes Tender Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 I wasn't counting but there were 2 or 3 periods of play v West Ham where we had similar periods of play. Definitely the Koerman effect. I agree that we ought to be capable of a higher position than last season, even with one or two injuries, as we have more depth in our squad. Interesting to make comparisons with where we were at exactly this stage last season, where our stats are much better in terms of goals scored, passes, tackles, etc. Regarding MOTD and their hopeless punditry, the only way that they will highlight our play, is if we beat one of the glory teams and only then to point out what an off day they were having. All that analysis of the shaded areas of the pitch unprotected by defenders, or the circles demonstrating the lack of players attacking the player with the ball, are only there for the top teams. The pundits don't notice it when little ole' Saints do it.
ericofarabia Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 Plenty of talk about the midfield, but haven't seen JWP's name mentioned. Thought he looked really lively when he came on, always looking to receive the ball. As many have said, our squad looks so much better in depth than last season, and is being used correctly as well.
Fan The Flames Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 Brilliant. The back heel from Pelle shows how good he is; he turned a slightly off ball into to a dangerous move, he then peeled off and did a run to the back post looking for the return, wanting to complete his hatrick even in the dying seconds of a game. A proper striker.
Rut Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 I wasn't counting but there were 2 or 3 periods of play v West Ham where we had similar periods of play Yeah there were and I remember thinking 'get a goal at the end of this and it will get shown time & time again'. It was about then that the moves would collapse... Not Schneiderlin's on Saturday. What a goal that was. Love the video with the Solent commentary and the pass count on it. Definitely going to be an exciting season.
Zurichsaint Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 All 11 players involved in the move as well - totally amazing! Stattos ..... has his ever been done before in Th Prem .... or anywhere else? Schexxy Football. Ok, statto here! It isn't even a record for this season. Spuds had a 48 pass goal, involving all 11 players against QPR on 24th August. http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/the-48-pass-spurs-goal-who-touched-it-how-many-times-graphic/ That said, their goal involved twice as many passes as any goal last season. I still prefer ours... ?

DuncanRG Posted 15 September, 2014 Posted 15 September, 2014 It was pleasant but Newcastle hardly even tried to recover the ball. We didn't have to play particularly well to do that, though there were some nice moments and the finish was obviously top class.
