9-3 Posted 13 September, 2014 Share Posted 13 September, 2014 Frightened to get out of his seat in the second half, what motivation is that for the team. Ashley to ashes for Pardew.
Hamilton Saint Posted 13 September, 2014 Share Posted 13 September, 2014 Perhaps they're not listening to him anymore? Blackmore and Merrington were musing a few times during the game that Pardew might have "lost the dressing room".

SNSUN Posted 13 September, 2014 Share Posted 13 September, 2014 I was having a glance at the NUFC website just now - is it true he was blaming the International break for his team's disorganisation? Aren't we ALL in that same boat? Pardew has lost it IMO, there's the makings of a decent team there but they need the right man to guide it. Having said that, the links of Pulis and Moyes to the managerial post won't exactly have the Geordie fans too chuffed...
doddisalegend Posted 13 September, 2014 Share Posted 13 September, 2014 Hasn't he got a contract that goes until 2020? If he does get the sack must be in line for a good wedge in pay off. Don't think Ashley has the imagination to hire anyone outside of the failed PL mangers list so sacking Pardew might not actually improve things much at Newcastle. SuperMikey Posted 13 September, 2014 Share Posted 13 September, 2014 Pards will be gone by October, Pulis will be in within a week and Newcastle will spend heavily in January. Wonder what kind of odds I would get on that..probably about 3/1.
JxgrSaint Posted 13 September, 2014 Share Posted 13 September, 2014 When does Di Matteo's Chelsea contract expire? Would've thought he'd be a better option than Moyes, Pulis or Adolf Mackay...

There was a rumour doing the rounds which I heard from a toon fan, that pard's contract was somehow involved with gambling debts and ashleys bookie firm. I couldn't quite see how that would work myself.
sadoldgit Posted 14 September, 2014 Share Posted 14 September, 2014 Pardew did a great job for us and laid down the foundation of what have now. Whatever happens to him at Newcastle we should be grateful for what he did for us before Cortese kicked him out.

doddisalegend Posted 14 September, 2014 Share Posted 14 September, 2014 I see Shearer on MOTD saying that Pardew has no say on player buying or selling at Newcastle seems like Ashley is another one of those owners who fancies himself as a football man might as well sack Pardew and bring in Dave Hockaday

I think he's less than half way through an 8 year contract, so with about a £10m payoff I don't think he's losing very much sleep about his imminent sacking. OldNick Posted 14 September, 2014 Share Posted 14 September, 2014 I think Pardew did well for us, and was gracious about us. He doesn't seem to choose which players the club buys and so is hamstrung

I couldn't quite see how that would work myself. I think Derek Llambias (ex-board member at Newcastle and buddies with Ashley) owned some casinos and the rumours were that Pardew was in debt to him. According to Pardew it isn't true. How he must pine for the heady days when this interview took place and they sat 4th in the Premier League. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2049351/Alan-Pardew-Newcastle-manager-explodes-myths.html

Don't think Ashley has the imagination to hire anyone outside of the failed PL mangers list so sacking Pardew might not actually improve things much at Newcastle. So I was talking to someone who's knows Mike Ashley very well, he told me some interesting things on how he runs Newcastle (and his other businesses) - he has made Newcastle debt free and profitable - all is administrative staff (which pardew comes under) are paid a maximum of 150,000 a year (this is what he pays himself) - all additional incentives are done by incentives based round performance (he have bounds to all his sports direct staff, till workers and all) - for the football club the bonus paid to pardew and the rest of the back office team depend on two factors, league position and profit from selling players - he is one if the few owners who lives in th UK and pays UK tax - he has a number of times to his social circles 'Newcastle fans would be happy for me to bankrupt if they thought it would give the club success) So, based on the above, and I have no reason to believe it wouldn't be, pardew would not be expensive to sack, pretty much as long as he is not relegated he will keep his job as he has bought into the philosophy's on how Ashley runs his business. I very much doubt many big name managers would take that approach.

doddisalegend Posted 15 September, 2014 Share Posted 15 September, 2014 This happens/has happened at many, many clubs. No doubt and it's happened here at Saints but since the new era I think every manger we have had has clearly had input into some of our signings Jonno quick, Billy Sharp and Osvaldo come to mind. This latest saints team is full of players that Koeman has had some input on. Shearer seemed to be suggesting Pardew has no say what so ever at Newcastle If that's the case Pardew being an old school manager might as well be given the heave ho and be replaced by the modern style coach.
