washsaint Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 Great article on ESPN ( http://www.espnfc.co.uk/southampton/story/2026875/morgan-schneiderlin-i-owed-it-to-southampton-to-stay? ) from Morgan. Truly hope this is true and that he will remain committed but it is very nice to see a player not act like a mercenary at the drop of a hat. Total respect to the guy. Truly hope this is true and that he will remain committed but it is very nice to see a player not act like a mercenary at the drop of a hat. Total respect to the guy. In fairness he wasn't left with much choice as the club put their foot down. I'm pretty sure this will be his last season at saints so I hope he has a great season with us and then leaves with the clubs best wishes, just like Lambert, I think people should just enjoy watching him play in a saints shirt this season. KingdomCome Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 Refreshingly honest and fair play, it's a reasonable attitude for him to have. No doubt he will be looking to leave as soon as possible, but to get the move he wants he'll have to impress again this season. So we should hopefully get a good season / half season out of him. Charlie Wayman Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 Morgan is worth 10 Luke Shaws, 20 Callum Chambers and 100 Oxlades for what he has pout into Saints over the past 6 years. He is in the French team now which he fully deserves so playing here is no barrier. Whether he stays 1, 2 or even 3 more years he will leave with our thanks and gratitude for helping make us a better team and a PL team once again. Vive le Schneiderlin! david in sweden Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 YES ...he's very good, but after trawling his way up through THREE divisions in the last 5 years, (and aside from KD and Fonte,) he's the last player from that era we have left on the books. I think he deserves the best football he can get. If he decides it's not with us ..then £27 million is a good starting fee...and more ...if it's Spuds who are after him. sadoldgit Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 It is a shame that he initially threw his toys out of the pram and I do wonder how much this is down to his agent or RK saying you aint going nowhere so toe the line now and you will get your move eventually. Either way, he said the right things and RK seems to be helping him to add goals to his game which is good for us now and will only help increase his value if and when he goes. OLDER BUT WISER Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 Well if he wants European football the best way would be to help RK and the team achieve it and he is definitely good enough to do it.
Ohio Saint Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 If he carries on playing to his current form, and our new signings are up to snuff, who knows!? He may find himself in a team that can realise his ambitions! Yes, I'm dreaming, I know. edit. As above.

Window Cleaner Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 You'd think he'd be just what Man United and Arsenal need. both have far too many midfielders on their books already. Wenger is still probably dreaming on the fact than he can get some sort of production out of Diaby again until he can get Khedira on a free. Saint_Ash Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 Isn't there rumours that Man U tried getting him for £20m? Either way, with him in the team we're stronger and I'm hoping for a nice cup run, maybe even try and win one. It's more important now with the winners of Europa League getting into the Champs League.

Toadhall Saint Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 You'd think he'd be just what Man United and Arsenal need. I could see him at arsenal - Patrick viera but without the over the top aggression or a straight replacement for Flamini. As to Man U I'm biased as I just don't like them and never have. Dellman Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 I feel sure he will go,hope I'm wrong, but if he does go he should fetch more than any of the summer sales, way ahead of Shaw, so the bidding should start at £30million--hope he stays! Taking nothing away from the simple fact he is a brilliant player, the story line here is he wanted to go, the club won't let him go, so he puts in a shift to keep his international hopes alive and still wants to go. No need to get misty eyed over it - if the door is even slightly ajar next transfer window he will put his high viz Nike boot straight through it. Respect if anything has to go the board and to Koeman, for dealing with his sh*te all summer.

Gorgiesaint Posted 10 September, 2014 Share Posted 10 September, 2014 Compare and contrast with an article written in the Mirror by Alex Crook which attempts to convey the same message. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-target-morgan-schneiderlin-4190836 Interesting that the British based journalist still seems intent on getting him moved to Spurs - and let's face it, the Mirror couldn't be bothered to change the title of the page. Batman Posted 10 September, 2014 Share Posted 10 September, 2014 Not just that IMO, I think it should be PSG, Barca, Real all looking at him. He could slot into any midfield in the world, as he's starting to show the French national side. Amazed Utd didn't bid given how poor their midfield is. I accept he'll go next summer, but come on, Spurs? No. Agree with that. Although he may not have seen it at the time, stopping him going to spurs might work out better for him next summer

Saint Bones Posted 10 September, 2014 Share Posted 10 September, 2014 He is an absolute star player who continually gets better. I hope he stays for a long time but cannot hold it against him for wanting to better his career. ( Europe & Wages ) It was a shame he had to have the little dummy spit but I 'feel'' he is again committed to the cause - at least until January
Munted Posted 10 September, 2014 Share Posted 10 September, 2014 I love watching him play and the way he can control the midfield. I hope he does not leave for another premier league side in the winter transfer window and that we can at least hold on to him and J Rod for the season at least. I still think he could have handled the whole situation about not being allowed a transfer better, but that is just my opinion. This article doesn't change that or how much I will enjoy watching him play in the red and white stripes, for however much longer that will be for. itchen Posted 10 September, 2014 Share Posted 10 September, 2014 Well I'm glad he's staying and I'm glad he's not sulking. But, come on. He only recently signed a new contract and part of that would have been a raise in pay in the expectation that he'd see the contract out (or most of it, anyway). I may be old fashioned but he shouldn't have assumed he'd be allowed to leave.
DuncanRG Posted 10 September, 2014 Share Posted 10 September, 2014 Good attitude. I'd like to hear the feelings of someone who has ever said something along the lines of 'if they don't want to be here, they can leave'. Anyone?
Supersubpuckett Posted 10 September, 2014 Share Posted 10 September, 2014 He's worth way more than £25m or thereabouts. Given all his amazing performance stats what price would he be if at one of the big clubs. £40m+ easily.

I've said it and will stick with it despite the very unusual summer we have suffered. Before ****ter etc these things would have been dealt with behind closed doors. So I'm glad he has had a change of mind as it will benefit both parties. In isolation ie not a summer where we have had an unprecedented amount of players leave my response would still remain the same.

A chance in mind set then. After all if he hasn't then why not go on strike to force the move? It's all a mute point to be honest as I do not know the mind of MS - never even spoken to him. Just read edited snippets of quotes/other information.
