Turkish Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 Why is it we have such a vacuum of English DMs? For this see also centre backs. It wasn't that long ago we had 5 quality players there. Terry, Ferdinand, woodgate, king, Campbell. Arguably Matt Upson in his prime who was 6th choice back then would get in ahead of all our current crop. sadoldgit Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 Not really. We will walk this group. I agree that we should sail through the group. What I meant about a lot of work to do is that we are still far from a decent side. I dont think the defence is strong enough and we are weak defensively in midfield. Rooney is still a massive problem. Having made him captain it is hard to drop him but he clearly is not playing up to the standard you would expect of him. Dont know why we need to have an on-going capatin - perhaps they should just be picked on a match by match basis?
cellone Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 I think my post is pretty self explanatory. We have won the hardest fixture in the group. We will do enough to finish second easily, we will probably win the group. Sos, I didn't understand. That's why I asked
St Lej Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 IMO the "Job-Done" brigade are looking at qualifying as an end rather than a means-to-an-end. It means England will qualify for France 2016 and then get butt-f**ked in the group stage. What is it with you and butt ****ings?

supersonic Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 Not a bad game. Job Done is the best way to describe it. Delph played well - good player in his own right - not the answer to our midfield by a long shot but certainly has played well over the past 2 seasons and played ok last night. How does Wilshere get a game for Arsenal let alone England is beyond me - the next David Bentley in my eyes. Cork perhaps should get a call up, as should Huddlestone if he plays like he did last season. Sturridge and Rooney cannot play together - rooney drops deep to get the ball and Sturridge pulls out wide meaning nobody is left in the box. Welbeck and Rooney are our best strike force. No reason why we can't go on and get maximum points from this group now.

OldNick Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 I wonder if Clynes attitude when he played for England's under 21(?) did not go down well. I do recall his tweet of 'get me out of here'
waylander Posted 9 September, 2014 Share Posted 9 September, 2014 Unimpressed with Stones at rb. Just about every time he got forward he declined to take on his man and passed it either backwards or square inside. Even Johnson is better than that. Clyne has got to be a better option. JonnyOldBoy Posted 10 September, 2014 Share Posted 10 September, 2014 That England performance was dire. The swiss played like a conference side and England played like a div1 side. The defending from both sides was a complete joke. Welbad's goals were highlights obviously and I thought he play ok... but the rest were terrible. Yes England will top the group... and yes they will get to Euro 2016 ..... and yes they will embarrass themselves and the nation once more. Utter cr@p and anyone who paid to fly out and watch that is made of curious stuff imo....
