angelman Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Anyone else watching this and thinking how boring it really is?? And Delph, how long before he gets a second yellow?
badgerx16 Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Anyone else watching this........? No. Just watched the Vuelta a Espana and now watching the Tour of Britain.
saints1988 Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Anyone else watching this and thinking how boring it really is?? And Delph, how long before he gets a second yellow? Is jack Wiltshire the most overrated England player ever??? What does the boy offer?
angelman Posted 8 September, 2014 Author Posted 8 September, 2014 Is jack Wiltshire the most overrated England player ever??? What does the boy offer? Passes that are too short?
angelman Posted 8 September, 2014 Author Posted 8 September, 2014 No. Just watched the Vuelta a Espana and now watching the Tour of Britain. Is Froome doing well?
saints1988 Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Passes that are too short? What's even more criminal is he is on nearly double the amount of England caps that MLT achieved. Come on........
mulletsaint Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Passes that are too short? Too inaccurate at the mo. Delph's been good in possession but he's a red card waiting to happen.
Whitey Grandad Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Wake me up when it's over. I can't get any coverage so I'm relying on you lot for a full and in-depth description of what's happening.
supergoose Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Yes, really desperate viewing! How can anyone still think England have any world class players?
S-Clarke Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Lol @ Delph playing for England. The players on show out there wouldn't even be in the 'pool' of players 5/6 years ago. Ignoring how ineffective they were for England, there isn't anyone with the class and pedigree of Gerrard and Lampard anywhere near - which is sad. Beckham, Scholes, Owen, Neville, Cole, Rio, Campbell, Terry......at their time, leading players in world football. We don't have a single player who is leading in anything. Just decent, bog standard average players. Desperate stakes, and utterly depressing viewing.
ART Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Same old same old Hodgson with little to get excited about. One prospect for us Saints if England lose, is a triple post match killing. 1) Hodgson out, followed by 2) Rodgers being named England manager and 3) Liverpool appointing Pochettino as manager.
SaintRobbie Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 England fans - 'here for the cows, we're only here for the cows...' Highlight of the 1st half.
SaintRobbie Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Anyone else watching this and thinking how boring it really is?? And Delph, how long before he gets a second yellow? Boring. If England loses this Hodgson needs to go in my opinion. Ineffective and uninspiring. (& he helped wreck our team this summer).
aintforever Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Probably the worst England line-up I've ever seen. It wasn't long ago that players like Le Tissier and Ian Wright scored 20 a season and didn't even make the squad.

Desperate stakes, and utterly depressing viewing. you dont need world class players to be decent at international level have mexico, costa rica, scotland (after last night performance) got 'world class' players? you need to pick 11 players who play fairly regularly, and well for their clubs and go with a formation that works picking stones at right back is just plain odd, stupid and unexplainable. same as the continuation with johnson at right back. throw in wilshere too. the picking of chambers for this squad shows everything that is wrong with the national set up. I like cahill, sterling, hart and henderson (if played where he does for liverpool) we have a pool of some very good players. We dont need world beaters to be decent at this level. Look at chile in the world cup, even john bosejour looked very good for them, fancy him at saints? neither would i
ART Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Didn't even give Rickie a place on the bench where he should have led the attack. Hodgson deserves to go merely on such a decision of leaving him out.
sadoldgit Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Could well have gone in in front at HT. At least we are making chances.

Look at chile in the world cup, even john bosejour looked very good for them, fancy him at saints? neither would i Mexico have some class players, a fair few better than what England have to offer that's for sure. For example tonight, I'd have Rodriguez, Linchenstiner and Inler in that England team without a thought. I think we're just bog standard average, just playing at a level that reflects the players current limitations and lack of real flair. It doesn't help though when the managers clear dour and slow demeanour rubs off on the team, which it has done. We could do more with this group, maybe not amazing things, still more definitely. But if we're honest it's still a scary lack of quality to choose from for an England football team.
SaintRobbie Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Could well have gone in in front at HT. At least we are making chances. I guess x2 attempts means 'chances'. Technically you're right.
angelman Posted 8 September, 2014 Author Posted 8 September, 2014 Didn't even give Rickie a place on the bench where he should have led the attack. Hodgson deserves to go merely on such a decision of leaving him out. I think Rickie is on the bench. But really, while we criticise Woy for playing Milner when he hardly gets a game at City, the same should really apply to Rickie. But who should be in the squad???
krissyboy31 Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 The problem is, even though he has no (or very few) stars now, he is STILL picking square pegs in round holes. Until they get away from picking eleven players and trying to fit them into a system rather than picking players for the system you want to play, we are never going to improve.
SaintSteve Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 No point in picking on individual players - its the inept tactician of a manager we have that's the main issue
saints1988 Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Wilshere is dogsh*t. The worst thing is his attitude he struts around the pitch and from what is perceived of his off field life is that he has made it as a top top international player. When really he is a grade A c_nt!!!
SaintRobbie Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 No point in picking on individual players - its the inept tactician of a manager we have that's the main issue Imagine if England appointed Pottechino. I wonder if we'd be watching the same game.
krissyboy31 Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Wilshere is dogsh*t. One of the most over rated and over hyped players, ever!
S-Clarke Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 The worst thing is his attitude he struts around the pitch and from what is perceived of his off field life is that he has made it as a top top international player. When really he is a grade A c_nt!!! Could have been good, but won't ever be now. I doubt we'll ever know how much the injuries have limited his game, but he's a shadow of the player who was on the scene at 18. Bit of a boring player who never seems to do anything.

S-Clarke Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 what annoys me, is the default view of many pundits that the midfield should be built around 'jack' I'm not sure who you really buidl the midfield around to be honest! All very average. Could just wait for a few years and build the team around Liverpool's midfield pairing of Reed and JWP.
badgerx16 Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Is Froome doing well? Currently 3rd overall, 3 seconds behind Valverde, having finished 2nd today. Contador should win.
Toadhall Saint Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 No point in picking on individual players - its the inept tactician of a manager we have that's the main issue Personally feel it's a bit if both to be honest.
nta786 Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Wilshere is dogsh*t. The whole team really. Wilshere should stick to the fags ffs. Woy needs to leave. Many major countries had a change in manager- BECAUSE it was the right thing to do. On the other hand- England
sadoldgit Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 I guess x2 attempts means 'chances'. Technically you're right. I think you are being a bit harsh, we made some good chances in the 1st half. Look a bit vulnerable at th back though. At least we arent sitting back.
LGTL Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Hodgson should have gone after Euro 2012 - I had the misfortune of being in Kiev and that performance against the Italians was pathetic. We may well win this but it doesn't change a thing.
Smirking_Saint Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 The problem is, even though he has no (or very few) stars now, he is STILL picking square pegs in round holes. Until they get away from picking eleven players and trying to fit them into a system rather than picking players for the system you want to play, we are never going to improve. This And no its not about picking players that are... 'Good for their clubs' as all you get is a disjointed and different team every few games. Which is why the team needs to be kept roughly the same, players need to gel and thats v hard at int level. Quite frankly the current crop is less than bang average, easily the worst overall squad I have known in my lifetime. Summed up entirely by Rooney, who easily 'should' be our best player, has the ability but woefully out of form. Unfortunately, as much as Id like him dropped there isnt really anyone who is good enough to nail him to the subs bench. Its drab, hodgson is as inspiring as a toilet brush. And carrys on the old tradition of not picking players that fit the system
Beckenham Saint Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Boring. If England loses this Hodgson needs to go in my opinion. Ineffective and uninspiring. (& he helped wreck our team this summer). I thought we all agreed our squad is stronger now that last year? Roy in!
Goatboy Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 LOL. Only just noticed Henderson is playing.
ART Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Who do you replace him with? Redknapp? Brendan Rodgers
angelman Posted 8 September, 2014 Author Posted 8 September, 2014 If we don't lose, I imagine Hodgson will come out and say that he was content . And then we ****ing score
LGTL Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Who do you replace him with? Redknapp? Wouldn't it be wonderful for the FA to use their imagination. Go and find a Poch type. Problem is the FA wouldn't dream of anything out of the ordinary. Oh good 0-1.
sadoldgit Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Brendan Rodgers Do you really think he would want the job?
krissyboy31 Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Who do you replace him with? Redknapp? The problem is the FA have said they won't go foreign again and there are NO talented English/British coaches/managers, Unfortunately I think we're stuck with him. Me? I'd be on the phone to Hiddink!
angelman Posted 8 September, 2014 Author Posted 8 September, 2014 It may have been a good goal, but one moment doesn't really paper over the cracks of the insipid hour that preceded it.
Smirking_Saint Posted 8 September, 2014 Posted 8 September, 2014 Who do you replace him with? Redknapp? Or hoddle, rodgers is the best bet really, unless you go foreign. Though Rodgers is welsh I think ? Problem is, I reckon you'd struggle getting a big name that isnt just looking for a paycheck. Poor squad, high expectations
