frankly i feel 14 million for jay rod is fairly insulting, especially after we payed 12 million for long. i beg to god this doesn't happen he couldve had arund 20 goals if he wasnt injured and definitely wouldve gone to brazil.

Would he have gone to Brazil though? He wasnt a squad regular before his injury. Who would he have replaced?

A fully fit J-rod would be worth a lot more but he won't play for a while yet and may never come back from injury as good as he was before his injury, as well as being more prone to injury from now on. Also as J-rod won't sign a new contract his value is only going to go down letting him leave on a free isn't much good to the club 14 million for a crooked player that is going to become less valuable with every passing month might not be a bad deal IMO

Neil Ashton has the latest on Morgan Schneiderlin...

'Have now discovered Schneiderlin's agent was in Southampton team hotel on Saturday to be told his client must keep his head down and perform and then the club will look at his situation again in January, but more likely next summer.

'Big issues with Victor Wanyama on the day of the gem too. He also wants out but Southampton are refusing to let him go. All got a bit tasty at the hotel before the game by all accounts, but players responded on the pitch by beating West Ham 3-1.

Mail saying Wanyama wants out too...

I know this won't go down well on here but I'd be inclined to cash-in on JRod, just not with any Townsend connection.

For me it goes beyond the very valid points you've raised.

I don't think he'll have another season like the last one. All the stars were aligned - he had the perfect players around him and probably the perfect manager, and he had some luck on his side (his freakish goals at Stoke and Palace come to mind).

As much as I like the guy, I think we may have seen the best of him.

Those kids fighting outside Staplewood on Sky Sports. You stay classy, Southampton... :mcinnes:

That wasn't a fight that was a guy in a sleeping bag being bundled by his mates. (Or one of our new signings tied up in a bag being quieted by junior club staff). Thought it was one of the more amusing background things so far, puerile but harmless.

Can I make a polite request? Please can none of our fans turn up at Staplewood to stand outside the gates, waving their phones and arms in front of the camera because ''THEY'RE ON TV!1111''.

It looks dumb.

cheers.

Failed. Kids outside Staplewood on bikes/scooter, one in sleeping bag playing rough and tumble on the grass!!

Other mongs congregating round the country, I wish the clubs would let the reporters into the training ground gates to avoid this annual embarrassment.

Probably for the best if Capel deal doesn't happen, doesn't seem the most inspiring player and last minute TDD loan deals just have a Redknapp stench about them (although would happily make an exception for Toby!).

Would be happy to get either Mare or Redmond over the line (providing it's no more than £8m for the latter) with TA, and keep hold of Morgan and Jay. If Jos wants first team football at Burnley then good luck to him there, but this seems to have gone cold today.

Tactical reasons I would suggest - We had better balance in the team on Saturday

and it worked wonders. Big Vic just eats Morgan's space and slows the play down too much IMO. The move to one holding midfielder (Morgan) made us much more effective in that game. Maybe we'll swap it back depending on the opponent.
