Gaston is probably one of the highest earners in the squad and it therefore makes financial sense to get him off the wage bill if he isn't going to be a regular. If he does well at Hull we should be able to get a decent fee for him next summer

He was quoted when signing that it was €2m a year + €1m signing on fee.

€2m @ £1:€1.25 = about £30k per week

Imagine how the Hull fans must be feeling. They've just signed a player that's been at Saints for two years, is constantly injured and has hardly played a full game in all that time. Scored a few goals but nothing to set the world alight. From the outside looking in, you'd be disappointed with that signing wouldn't you?

If these deals are done can the club just stick 'em on Twitter now so I can chill for what's left of the evening? Please?

Twitter is being used for 'other things' at the moment , no room for much else ;)

That was after tax. I am led to believe he is on over £60k pw

Other people have made similar observations and it undoubtedly makes sense in that way, but I feel with the players we've already lost this window and our lack of guile at times, it would have been a good idea to have kept him in the squad. Still, if we confirm this Mane bloke and he hits the ground running, I dare say we wont give two hoots.

I think that those wages were "netto" - after tax. ie His wages would be nearer £50k a week as measured on the conventional scale.

Ah yes, heard that as well. Might as well give his wage to Morgan. But can Hull really afford that if reports are to be believed that they are paying £3m and his wages - that would be £6m for the year!! Or is he taking a wage cut?

He was quoted as saying he would earn that money after deductions

Yea, I reckon hull fans are crying at the fact they've flogged shane long for 12 million, replaced him with a young Uruguay international and get saints most creative player on a season long loan.. ****ing clown

Lol... Saints most creative player? WTF. He's been creative two or three times a year. Historically Lallana has been our most creative player and this year it's been Tadic. ****ing clown.

Jesus. Have most of you seen him play? Yea the lads got 'potential', but he rarely puts it into practice.

West Ham have signed Fuka Inthapussy

Sky only have themselves to blame for the mongs hanging around the reporters and acting stupidly, what do they expect when standing outside football grounds/training grounds? Some may find it entertaining but for me it's the worst part of watching these transfer nights.

Anyway come on Saints announce the 2 signings, would be surprised if we let Jos and Gaston go if not absolutely certain.

Most creative player who hardly ever plays. If he was a regular first teamer week in week out it would be different but despite his amazing creative flare we managed to survive most games last season without him.

Southampton Football Club can confirm that Gastón Ramírez has joined Hull City on loan for the rest of the season.

With Ramírez keen for regular first-team football, something has been further limited by recent attacking additions to the squad, the Uruguayan has been allowed to join the Tigers on a temporary basis.

23-year-old Ramírez will not be allowed to play against Saints when the teams meet this season, and will return to St Mary’s next summer.

We do the strangest things. Bruce has done some good business. Like others have said, Hull have got the better of us with this one. Gaston on loan and in return we get Long for £12m. Gaston is a international who played in the world cup whilst Long was searching for four leaf clovers on his holidays in Cork. Bruce must be ****ing himself.
