Saint_Ash Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Adam Blackmore on Twitter: Just got the written equivalent of a blank look from #saintsfc with regards a loan for Diego Capel from Sp Lisbon This is going to happen until it's over the line I would think.
SO16_Saint Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 it just wont go away: SamWallaceIndy12:58pm via Twitter for iPhoneTHFC raise offer for Jay Rodriguez, which includes Andros Townsend. Townsend is prepared to go Saints goo.gl/yb9ouu
cobbysouth Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 frankly i feel 14 million for jay rod is fairly insulting, especially after we payed 12 million for long. i beg to god this doesn't happen he couldve had arund 20 goals if he wasnt injured and definitely wouldve gone to brazil.
nta786 Posted 1 September, 2014 Author Posted 1 September, 2014 10 hours now left! Very exciting deadline day- that's for sure. Capel? Mane? Really wanna know which winger we have

Would he have gone to Brazil though? He wasnt a squad regular before his injury. Who would he have replaced?
Bewildered Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Daily Echo live transfer thing says Capel rumour is wide of the mark and Mane is still preferred choice with Redmond as a second choice should Mane deal stall.
SuperSAINT Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Daily Echo live transfer thing says Capel rumour is wide of the mark and Mane is still preferred choice with Redmond as a second choice should Mane deal stall. Methinks the club have just sent out an email to clarify
Bucks Saint Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Daily Echo live transfer thing says Capel rumour is wide of the mark and Mane is still preferred choice with Redmond as a second choice should Mane deal stall. BBC says its between us and Spuds for Mane
Halo Stickman Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Bloody hell, this is like being a kid on Christmas Eve!

A fully fit J-rod would be worth a lot more but he won't play for a while yet and may never come back from injury as good as he was before his injury, as well as being more prone to injury from now on. Also as J-rod won't sign a new contract his value is only going to go down letting him leave on a free isn't much good to the club 14 million for a crooked player that is going to become less valuable with every passing month might not be a bad deal IMO
doddisalegend Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Bloody hell, this is like being a kid on Christmas Eve! As long as there is something in the stocking at the end......otherwise it's a **** christmas
Dalek2003 Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Word in Norwich is now very strong that Redmond is very much an SFC target...I will try and find out more. Plus, Norwich getting close to agreeing to allow him to go.
beavis17 Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Neil Ashton has the latest on Morgan Schneiderlin... 'Have now discovered Schneiderlin's agent was in Southampton team hotel on Saturday to be told his client must keep his head down and perform and then the club will look at his situation again in January, but more likely next summer. 'Big issues with Victor Wanyama on the day of the gem too. He also wants out but Southampton are refusing to let him go. All got a bit tasty at the hotel before the game by all accounts, but players responded on the pitch by beating West Ham 3-1. Mail saying Wanyama wants out too...

trousers Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Would explain why he was left out of the team... As would several other possible reasons
doddisalegend Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez on a season-long loan with the option to buy. Weren't people on here touting him as an option for us?
Midfield_General Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Chicharito, who wasn't good enough for us, signs for Real Madrid
Fan The Flames Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 DanBrett9012:38pm via TweetDeckInteresting reports of Schneiderlin to #MUFC. Cheaper than Vidal but still think Carvalho would be best option for LVG. Need a CB. #GoalTZ I heard on Friday that according to a supposed MUFC itker that SFC turned own a £20m bid from MU for Schneiderlin.
Appy Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Would explain why he was left out of the team... So would his dreadful performance at Millwall.
saint-crinny Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Would explain why he was left out of the team... Or, more likely, Ashton noted he was out of the side and therefore put this latest rubbish together. "I'm telling you Wanyama wants out too, you all saw he left out on Saturday..."
JxgrSaint Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Bloody hell, this is like being a kid on Christmas Eve! So if we've been naughty we might end up with a lump of (Carlton) Cole?
Scummer Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Chicharito, who wasn't good enough for us, signs for Real Madrid They must have a more comfortable bench in Madrid than the one at Old Trafford.
doddisalegend Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 FFS, the vultures, have returned.... ???????
CanadaSaint Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 A fully fit J-rod would be worth a lot more but he won't play for a while yet and may never come back from injury as good as he was before his injury, as well as being more prone to injury from now on. For me it goes beyond the very valid points you've raised. I don't think he'll have another season like the last one. All the stars were aligned - he had the perfect players around him and probably the perfect manager, and he had some luck on his side (his freakish goals at Stoke and Palace come to mind). As much as I like the guy, I think we may have seen the best of him.
Solid Saint Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 So if we've been naughty we might end up with a lump of (Carlton) Cole?
JxgrSaint Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Those kids fighting outside Staplewood on Sky Sports. You stay classy, Southampton...
oldskoolsi Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Sky SPorts news says Capel is dead in the water now.
LatvianTolix Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 So, according to SSN no Capel deal then today??? Or just a smoke to arrange it in the 11th hour as a surpise?
Mallagroth Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Those kids fighting outside Staplewood on Sky Sports. You stay classy, Southampton... That wasn't a fight that was a guy in a sleeping bag being bundled by his mates. (Or one of our new signings tied up in a bag being quieted by junior club staff). Thought it was one of the more amusing background things so far, puerile but harmless.
M271 Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Can I make a polite request? Please can none of our fans turn up at Staplewood to stand outside the gates, waving their phones and arms in front of the camera because ''THEY'RE ON TV!1111''. It looks dumb. cheers. Failed. Kids outside Staplewood on bikes/scooter, one in sleeping bag playing rough and tumble on the grass!! Other mongs congregating round the country, I wish the clubs would let the reporters into the training ground gates to avoid this annual embarrassment.
Smirking_Saint Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez on a season-long loan with the option to buy. Weren't people on here touting him as an option for us? He swapped one bench for another TBH
Dalek2003 Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Redmond: Only rumours, nothing concrete that I have come across. I know a few people that know the club well, I will keep trying.
Saintmike5 Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Probably for the best if Capel deal doesn't happen, doesn't seem the most inspiring player and last minute TDD loan deals just have a Redknapp stench about them (although would happily make an exception for Toby!). Would be happy to get either Mare or Redmond over the line (providing it's no more than £8m for the latter) with TA, and keep hold of Morgan and Jay. If Jos wants first team football at Burnley then good luck to him there, but this seems to have gone cold today.
Mallagroth Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 So, according to SSN no Capel deal then today??? Or just a smoke to arrange it in the 11th hour as a surpise? Club has spoken with local media and denied any interest in Capel
Foxstone Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Would explain why he was left out of the team... Tactical reasons I would suggest - We had better balance in the team on Saturday
Chez Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 They must have a more comfortable bench in Madrid than the one at Old Trafford. it's no wonder players are happy to take the big wages to sit on the bench. Not many splinters these days:
mynameisthehulk Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 He swapped one bench for another TBH More interested in protecting his ego than proving his ability it seems.
Saint Charlie Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Richard Dunne possibly to Burnley. Wonder if they still want Jos? Might be hard to get rid of him.
Chez Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Tactical reasons I would suggest - We had better balance in the team on Saturday and it worked wonders. Big Vic just eats Morgan's space and slows the play down too much IMO. The move to one holding midfielder (Morgan) made us much more effective in that game. Maybe we'll swap it back depending on the opponent.
Mallagroth Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 More interested in protecting his ego than proving his ability it seems. My thoughts exactly. Good luck to him, this is mercenary move for sure. I wonder what Real Madrid are actually getting out of this.
sadoldgit Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 He swapped one bench for another TBH I know he is getting a sheadload of money, but if you were a decent footballer, wouldnt you actually want to play each week?
Doctoroncall Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 Daily Echo live transfer thing says Capel rumour is wide of the mark and Mane is still preferred choice with Redmond as a second choice should Mane deal stall. A new approach to transfers, try before you buy aka, Taider.
Ulrich van Gobbel Posted 1 September, 2014 Posted 1 September, 2014 @alex_crook: Understand Diego Capel will NOT be joining #saintsfc from Sporting Lisbon, contrary to some reports #DeadlineDay
