Edmonton Saint Posted 29 August, 2014 Share Posted 29 August, 2014 I once purchased a Saints away shirt with Johansen 23 on the back, as I felt that Stig was going to be a star... How wrong was I, and one day myself and 2 friends were walking through the dell car park, it was close to Christmas and we were very merry. I think it was about 2pm and we were singing Ooohh Terry Hurlock at the top of our voices, Who should we bump into we turned the corner but the legend that was and is Matt Le Tissier, who said Terry was in the sports hall or something and he would go and get him, Low and behold two minutes later, Terry came out and listened to our drunken rendition... Fun times.. Anyone else got any quirky, strange, embarassing, foolish or dinner tableish stories about Saints or Saints players?
ToreSF Posted 29 August, 2014 Share Posted 29 August, 2014 Johansen was the very reason I started supporting Southampton. He played for my local team in Norway, and was my biggest hero at the time he left for England. He should only know how much pain he has caused me with that move. Do you still have that shirt? I feel for you. If he'd known the move was going to cause some poor bastard to have to endure the agonies of supporting the saints, I'm sure he would have reconsidered. ToreSF Posted 29 August, 2014 Share Posted 29 August, 2014 I've met him a couple of times. And he has a apologized :-) Also talked about Dave Jones, and how he was not very popular amongst many of the players. Very old school.
Ludwig Posted 29 August, 2014 Share Posted 29 August, 2014 When i was much younger i went trick or treating with a few friends and one of their mums. We had a decent amount given to us, we had all dressed up and made an effort and had a good time. At one house though we knocked at the door and a scary looking ghost man appeared. Some of my friends screamed because the ghoulish figure was so realistic. The man started to reach out to us, which only frightened the others more and he was saying "please...please....dont be scared". Anyway, i was the only one to recognise the person and shouted "its ok, its Stuart Ripley!" He was mortified that he had scared us so much that he gave us double sweets and invited us in. I was ecstatic but none of my friends or the mum wanted to go in and still felt there was something of the night about him.
