nta786 Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 On the flip side, we might be on TV? Lol ***** it, we are out lads.
trousers Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Actually, thinking about it, Arsenal are bound to play a reserve team so with us at full strength we could stand a good chance.... #clutchingatstraws
saint lard Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Well that's another chance of a cup run abruptly brought to a halt. Struggle in the league and out of the cup.....seasons nearly a write off already. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
doddisalegend Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Crap you really need a bit of luck for a good cup run........... still with all their other commitments maybe they will play the Arsenal under 12s while RK puts out our best side:D
ashleyb5443 Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Anyone know rough dates they're being played?

stevegrant Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Cheap tickets (up to 9,000 of them as well), and they'll probably put their reserves out. Not a bad draw, I don't think.
LGTL Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Anyone know rough dates they're being played? Third week of September I think.
DuncanRG Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Every chance of beating them if we field a good side. Looking forward to it
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Third week of September I think. Week commencing 22nd September.
Saints foreva Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Not many stand out ties so can see ours being streamed/televised.
Chez Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Wonder how many we will take? Evening game sounds like fun to me.
The Cat Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Cheap tickets (up to 9,000 of them as well), and they'll probably put their reserves out. Not a bad draw, I don't think. Exactly. Reasonably easy to get to as well.
Saint_Jonny Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 W4NK draw. Hope we play our best side and they rest a stack / play the kids.
stevegrant Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Full draw: Chelsea v Bolton Wanderers Arsenal v SOUTHAMPTON West Bromwich Albion v Hull City Crystal Palace v Newcastle United Leyton Orient v Sheffield United Cardiff City v Bournemouth Sunderland v Stoke City Derby County v Reading Liverpool v Middlesbrough Milton Keynes Dons v Bradford City Manchester City v Sheffield Wednesday Burton Albion v Brighton & Hove Albion Swansea City v Everton Shrewsbury Town v Norwich City Fulham v Doncaster Rovers Tottenham Hotspur v Nottingham Forest
Puddings and Monkeys Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 So many "fans" throwing the towel in. Embarrassing. Let's hope the players have a bit more about them.
saintchris23 Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Only 20 minutes away from me so nice and easy. Will no doubt feel like 4 hours on the way home though!
John Boy Saint Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Better not play any nippers otherwise they will all be tapped up before they get back on the bus, with Master Chambers leading the whispers.
doddisalegend Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Full draw: Chelsea v Bolton Wanderers Arsenal v SOUTHAMPTON West Bromwich Albion v Hull City Crystal Palace v Newcastle United Leyton Orient v Sheffield United Cardiff City v Bournemouth Sunderland v Stoke City Derby County v Reading Liverpool v Middlesbrough Milton Keynes Dons v Bradford City Manchester City v Sheffield Wednesday Burton Albion v Brighton & Hove Albion Swansea City v Everton Shrewsbury Town v Norwich City Fulham v Doncaster Rovers Tottenham Hotspur v Nottingham Forest Quite a few PL on PL games if we get through good chance of avoiding another PL team in the next round........... maybe
saintchris23 Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 So many "fans" throwing the towel in. Embarrassing. Let's hope the players have a bit more about them. It's called banter..... In fact it's called realism. Did you see the first half last night??
OttawaSaint Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 'bout time we have this gunners a good licking...
Dr Who? Posted 27 August, 2014 Author Posted 27 August, 2014 So many "fans" throwing the towel in. Embarrassing. Let's hope the players have a bit more about them. Yep, let's hope they have a lot more than they had in the FA Cup last season. Here's hoping!
Puddings and Monkeys Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Did you see the second half? Banter?? Wtf has that got to do with it?
Gorgiesaint Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Come on guys. On a night when QPR got beaten by Burton, Villa got beaten by Leyton Orient and Steve De Ridder played for FC Copenhagen in a Champions League qualifer - just proves anything is possible.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 So many "fans" throwing the towel in. Embarrassing. Let's hope the players have a bit more about them. Agreed . What's the matter with some people? They'll rest a few and after winning the fa cup last year to get people off his back, Wenger won't give a shiny shiete about the league cup. If we play our best side we'll have a sniff.
Nolan Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Likely that that will be on TV, so we'll get extra money on the coffers and get to play against the Arsenal players who aren't knackered from Champions League ties. We might as well knock out the 'top' teams on the way to the final.
Sour Mash Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 On the basis we're taking the competition seriously and intend to put out a side close to full strength and Arsenal will rest the vast majority of their key players, we do have a fair chance, certainly will be a close game - look at the 2nd half at Anfield for evidence we can certainly compete. We can have a massive allocation at cheap tickets, up to 6-10k tickets I think, so a good chance for all those that don't manage to get a ticket for the league game there.

saintchris23 Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Did you see the second half? Banter?? Wtf has that got to do with it? Banter because I don't think for a second that up to 9000 fans will pay £25 each to watch us beaten on a Tuesday night away from home. Yet we'll all moan about how difficult the tie is. Grow up and stop being so aggressive.

The Cat Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 Banter because I don't think for a second that up to 9000 fans will pay £25 each to watch us beaten on a Tuesday night away from home. It could well be £10-£15 a ticket. And if we put out a decent side we'll have a good chance of getting through.
saintchris23 Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 It could well be £10-£15 a ticket. And if we put out a decent side we'll have a good chance of getting through. If it's that cheap I might buy two tickets. One for each arse cheek!
DuncanRG Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 If it's that cheap I might buy two tickets. One for each arse cheek! You're going to rub them on your arse cheeks?
alehouseboys Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 I'll take that, top night out. Love big away cup games, particularly in the capital. Potential for one of those "I was there" moments, hopefully price it right and we could get a good few thousand up there.
Bucks Saint Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 It's called banter..... In fact it's called realism. Did you see the first half last night?? So you wont be making the long trip then. Ok
saintchris23 Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 You're going to rub them on your arse cheeks? If it brings a little luck!
saintchris23 Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 So you wont be making the long trip then. Ok The long trip, all 20 minutes of it. Yes I'll be going, just like I went on Saturday and also Liverpool away the previous weekend. Point?
Lets B Avenue Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 I have bad memories of 3rd rd League Cup ties at Arsenal. 1979 and we had gone 10 years without scoring at Highbury and me and a mate got thrown out of the seats in the West Stand for basically being pis sed and abusive to cheating irish divers (Liam Brady). Spent half-time trying unsuccessfully to get back in, so went for a pint and missed Steve Williams getting an equaliser. Then came back and got in the North Bank, just in time to see Brady get the winner.
Hatch Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 2012 Arsenal knocked out by Bradford 2011 Ipswich 2008 Burnley it can be done.
sandwichsaint Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 I'm in, never been able to get tickets for the Emirates but been to Highbury plenty of times. Wanted Arsenal/Fulham/Palace away (in reverse order) so can't really complain..... but we will need two of yesterday's second halves and their squad/youth X1 will need a massive off-day for us to go any further.
Pat from Poole Posted 27 August, 2014 Posted 27 August, 2014 The only way we'd sell 9,000 tickets for that game is if we'd never played at the ground before. If it's on telly, we'd probably sell about 3,000 tickets. If it isn't on TV, maybe 5,000 tickets. Think Arsenal tend to charge their own fans cheap prices for these sort of games, so it may be close to a sell-out.
