Bewildered Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Total rubbish, Tadic, Forster plus 9 wastemen (11 if you count subs).
obelisk Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Dreadful game. Dreadful stream. At least there's a point on the board.
farawaysaint Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 So want to like Pelle, he's just not in it at the moment. Don't think he needs everyone on his back after two games though, there's still a very good chance he can lift his game. Side note, he cost the same as Ideye who looked very threatening.
trousers Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 'One of those games'. It could be a lot worse....we could be Fulham WBA came for one result and got it.
Saint_Abroad Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Majority possession and no goals, Poch would be proud.
Secret Site Agent Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 What a load of old tosh. We have no attacking gumption it seems. Worried about Pelle and our tactics at the moment. I only hope Ronno can sort it out. Onwards and upwards, at least we didn't lose.
Heisenberg Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Poor game all in. Neither side created enough chances. Positives for us - clean sheet, Tadic, Bertrand, FF made one good save and looked composed, 1st point on the board Negatives - didnt create many chances, lack any cutting edge, supply to Pele was poor. Overall 6/10
DG Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Woeful apart from Forster and Tadic, imagine the **** we would be in without them. Don't look like creating any chances let alone scoring (not all Pelle's fault). Need JRod fit as soon as possible, and hell, even Ramirez.
Shanghai Saint Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Dul, dull, dull. No plan, no purpose and no end product.
redkeith Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 We need a right footed Tadic. JWP/Davis and Cork are not wide men.
WealdSaint Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Disappointed, BUT I have seen Saints loose so many games like this that I am pleased we hung on for a point
Saint Without a Halo Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 very poor a long way to go to get to last years quality possession was lost no spark up front very ponderous hell at least its a point Worth remembering this WBA side one once in the whole of the 2nd half of last season
JakkoUK Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Game was crap, going to have to improve and learn to break down defenses. Also having one shot on target on goal all game is just un-acceptable. Hoping this was just a blip.
SB Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 On the bright side it might push les and co to invest in a couple more players that aren't average dross Negative I think guly could have shown more threat than pellè, only so long Ron can back his man, although it's not like we have a plan B up front..
Plastic Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Meh, west brom played ok. Forster & Tadic great. Team still need time to knit (I refuse to say gel).
Saints foreva Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Poor from Saints. Should be winning against sides like that but barely created a chance. Hope it's not a sign of things to come.
Baird of the land Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Dreadful performance vs a dreadful team. Points dropped. Still don't look anything like a top half team.
Bewildered Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Played like strangers, Tadic and Forster the only decent players on show today. Signs are not looking good re: Pelle. Long was not any better when he came on.
jabei Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Thought Forster looked assured...apart from that not much to get excited about. A real downer after last week... I wish Koeman was a little bet more animated
Batman Posted 23 August, 2014 Author Posted 23 August, 2014 well.. pretty boring really, Thought we were very slow on the ball, not a great deal of zip in our play. WBA ended the game a lot stronger than we did and we created very little it seemed. to me, that was two teams who are very much going to struggle this season, we just do not look like scoring really. Forster - 7 good game clyne - 6 - decent game, does not seem to go down the right too much, always cuts in Bertrand - 7 good game fonte - 6 - decent game Yoshida - 6 decent game Tadic - 8 MoM IMO. good display. Probably could have done better with that near post shot but cant do it all morgan 6 decent game vic - 7 good game JWP - 5 free kick aside, poor Davis - 5 poor Pelle - 4 awful today Long - 6 did more than pelle his cameo cork not on long enough to judge ah well, away to west ham next
Bensfcno1 Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Need some strike power. Sign danny Welbeck who is apparently available and a goal scoring midfieldrr. Always knocked him as he is not always good enough for champions league or world class but would be fantastic edition to our squad. Sent from my BNTV400 using Tapatalk
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 I really hope we play the first team on Tuesday.
BG_Saint Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 We played poorly, didn't create enough chances. Our closest chance was JWP's free kick. WBA looked sharper post '70 and missed winning towards the end (great save by Forster). I was expecting a tough game (like last year), but was hoping we could scrape a 1-0 (like last year). Too early to give out sentences on new transfers. Teams needs more time to gel.
St Marco Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Such a poor game. I don't even know what our tactics were supposed to be? Tadic and Wanyama did well but the rest were pretty gash. Pelle and Long were shockingly bad. If we can't keep the ball and get into better positions I can't see how we are going to score? Based on the first two games we really need some pace into the team. A quality right sided winger is a must buy now.
saintsmike25 Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Last season we struggled against WBA, this year once again the game is a snoozefest. Difference is we're playing very narrow with Koeman, and you can tell the players need to gel again, so many are trying to play it safe all the time and only Tadic and to a lesser extent Clyne have any intent at the moment. Koeman has a job to do to inspire them to get his ideas on playing into their heads, as right now we're playing as we expected a team of strangers. Too scared to lose games, but not brave enough to win them. What is obvious and despite Pelle playing better is that we're not supporting him enough, he needs someone in the middle to pick up on his flick ons, or when he holds the ball up. We're hitting and hoping to him, we can get on his back, but he's got a tough job up there and barely any service or outlets, When we play Wanyama, Morgan, JWP, Davis it's clear they ALL want to be Mr Tidy and comfortable, none want to make a break for it, so we always look negative. What I think needs to happen is the following - Either JWP or Davis needs to be dropped. Give Taider a chance. No more playing CM's out on the wing, play Isgrove or at least Long. We need to hit crosses earlier into the box. We're not awful, but that was hard to watch and we look more solid as a unit, but we're doing that at the expense of winning games or at least playing to win. Plus points, Foster, Berts, Yoshida, Morgan, Tadic, Clyne Minus points, everyone else.
dubai_phil Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 No rythm to our attacking play, no pace when we moved the ball around. Last year Davis seemed to be the Metronome, this year he doesn't even seem to get in the game. Very poor pass accuracy stats. Don't blame Pelle at all. We as a team have to start playing to his strengths NOT simply lumping the ball in his direction. Long's name wasn't mentioned for about 30 mins of the 2nd half Dull and lifeless, and wtf with the crowd? SMS seemed as empty as nottarf. These things will come in time, but with this set up we need a fit Ramirez on the right hand side.
Bewildered Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Also, the 4-3-3 looks really unbalanced. There was only ever any real width on the side Tadic was operating. Think we might need to dump that idea unless another winger joins.
Killers Knee Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Played like brain injury victims, looked like turning oil tankers, entertained like drying paint.
simo Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Needs to make earlier sub's did Tadier make it on ?
monkadill Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 shows we haven't gelled as a team yet, no fluidness to our game but a lot could be down to a well drilled defensive WBA. Pelle needs time, Long needs to settle. Positives: We scrapped The defence held The keeper showed his worth We are thirteenth with a point, we are up n running
kpturner Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Glad I'm in sunny SW France. Doesn't sound great - and it sounds Pelle's performance against Bayer Leverkusen was a one-off either. Hope he gets to grips with it soon.
Bewildered Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Needs to make earlier sub's did Tadier make it on ? No, he brought Cork on instead (An odd choice when you should be looking to win a match IMO)
Heisenberg Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 After todays game id have a serious look at Wilfried Zaha We need some pace and something a bit unpredictable. Zaha on one side, Tadic on the other and i think wed be ok Guess Townsend might also give us some spark
Window Cleaner Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Needs to make earlier sub's did Tadier make it on ? No, Taider didn't get a game, not sure on his role at SFC really, still think he's just a makeweight that we couldn't side step if we wanted to get shot of Osvaldo. Side note Krusty and Katharina looked ****ed off.
WealdSaint Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 No, he brought Cork on instead (An odd choice when you should be looking to win a match IMO) I thought so as well. But Cork played quite well
simo Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 No, he brought Cork on instead (An odd choice when you should be looking to win a match IMO) Ffs I like cork but he's not a match winning substitute
simo Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 No, Taider didn't get a game, not sure on his role at SFC really, still think he's just a makeweight that we couldn't side step if we wanted to get shot of Osvaldo. Side note Krusty and Katharina looked ****ed off. Strange considering the way the Os raved about his performance in the u21s
ThreeSixty Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Tadic, Fonte both very good. Pelle, Davis abit rubbish. Everyone else in between.
Red Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 We need a right footed Tadic. JWP/Davis and Cork are not wide men. Just may be why we are trying to sign one (AT?). Also whilst disappointing, it's better to have the poor display now so Kat and the Ice Man back RK before the transfer market closes.
Window Cleaner Posted 23 August, 2014 Posted 23 August, 2014 Just may be why we are trying to sign one (AT?). Also whilst disappointing, it's better to have the poor display now so Kat and the Ice Man back RK before the transfer market closes. Haven't they already done that though ? We won't get AT without letting them have MS so we won't get him at all. Move on to another target.
