St Jim Posted 23 August, 2014 Share Posted 23 August, 2014 Probably because he liked to bring through young players. He's f*cking garbage, why do you think they are trying to offload him to a mid-table side? Because no one else wants him. Ever thought it may be because he doesn't fit their system and the don't want to offload him to a top 6\7 team that will be competing directly with Utd because they do actually rate him to some extent? Surely that's the ONLY reason they'd stipulate a mid-table move. He isn't the greatest striker England has ever seen, but he would be a very good addition to our squad IMO. He'll have a point to prove I'm sure.
Bearsy Posted 23 August, 2014 Share Posted 23 August, 2014 Danny Wellbz is my favourite player in world football! If we don't get Danny Wellbz cos of stupid Shane Long, I will be so angar with stupid Shane Long! When stupid Shane Long's name is read out, I will boo stupid Shane Long. If stupid Shane Long scores goal, I will refuse to celebrate stupid Shane Long's goal. If stupid Shane Long heads wide from 2 yards, I will applaud sarcastically for stupid Shane Long heading wide from two yards. Stupid Shane Long will rue the day that he wasn't Danny Wellbz! This important message was brought to you from hotel at Reading Festival. Weather is good, and forecast is BOOBS. Good luck in today's game, Saints bros! OldNick Posted 23 August, 2014 Share Posted 23 August, 2014 LOL, I've backed up my opinion with stats. All you've said is he's played for Man Utd! Classic mong board, you are like a little star-stuck 12-year-old. stats are not always the best thing to base an opinion. If Hull get Wellbeck for what we paid for Long +3m they have had the best deal by a long way. Wellbeck playing up front in a central position or alongside Pelle would be superb IMO

SaintRobbie Posted 24 August, 2014 Share Posted 24 August, 2014 Various sources reporting that Danny Welbeck has been told he can leave MUFC but only to a mid-table club (Sure, he isn't too happy about that), MUFC value him at £15m, he can play out wide and can finish, albeit not at a prolific rate, would you take him? Hell yes! This is the most important opportunity for our club this summer in my opinion, prolific, hungry, experience, fast and small - he will play off Pelle brilliantly. What's more if Jay Rod head goes and he leaves in January, Welbeck will have already replaced him. We must go all out to sign him.

JxgrSaint Posted 24 August, 2014 Share Posted 24 August, 2014 By comparison to Gallagher, Long, Pelle, Mayuka and an injured Jay Rod... he is! (But I take your point) He was better last season, but: Welbeck 2012/13 (aged 22 ) - 27 apps 1 goal Gallagher 2013/14 (aged 18 ) - 18 apps 1 goal Both made a lot of sub appearances but one was 4 years older, vastly more experienced and playing for the Champions-to-be. Frankly I'd rather we gave Gallagher more of a chance in the team than spunk £15m on Bambi Legs...

JxgrSaint Posted 24 August, 2014 Share Posted 24 August, 2014 Even last season when he was slightly less shît: Welbeck 2013/14 - 25 apps 9 goals 1 assist Long 2013/14 - 15 apps 4 goals 1 assist One played for a struggling Hull and one played for the team that came 7th, I'd say that makes those numbers comparable and really would having his magic numbers make anyone feel better about the season - especially for £15m? Roo1976 Posted 24 August, 2014 Share Posted 24 August, 2014 Agreed, would have been a cracking signing if instead of Long, too similar to sign both. no they are not wellbeck can play up front as a lone striker and holds the ball up wel also a good target man to bring in others. SaintRobbie Posted 24 August, 2014 Share Posted 24 August, 2014 A mid table club? Doesn't sound plausible to me. Why would Man Utd want to sell him to a direct rival? LOL! That's a shame, if inMay we were told on here you could have Long for 16m or Welbeck for 15 m I doubt many would have voted for Long. It is madness, we could have tied him in on the Shaw deal. The Premier League gives them money, lots of it, they sell tickets to supporters as well. There is no reason for them not to be able to afford their salary mass. The PL gave us 80 million £ as well, take into accout ticket sales that gives us about 100 million £ in annual revenues and yet we're fund transfers and apparently consequent salaries from player sales. Our player salary mass is about 48 million £ so the PL central fund easily covers it.
