TwoPints Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Is it just me but I think we've played really well in the first half. They've scored one on the break but apart from that we've matched them and been stronger in midfield. They seem to be relying on long balls from Gerrard. Don't forget we're playing away at last seasons runners up who have then gone on to spend £100m. When the team have 'gelled' I can see us being a force to be reckoned with. A draw wouldn't be unfair the way things are going.

Dig Dig Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Ward-Prowse not offering anything in that position. Surely Long will have more directness and pace off Pelle in the 2nd half?

The Kraken Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 We are doing OK but don't look particularly threatening going forward - can't see where the goal will come from. I am fairly unimpressed with Pelle and Tadic so far. Overall we look too slow. Yep, agree with this. We don't have our high intensity style of last season.

Window Cleaner Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 On US TV, Morgan being blamed for the goal. Soft tackle on Henderson. But he showed more bite later in the half. Victor, Bertrand, Tadic, Davis all superb. I thought JWP strong too apart from a couple of misunderstandings. Overall, there are a ton of positives against a strong Liverpool. Can't wait for the second half. We'll see Taider and Long before too long. Tadic lost the ball actually. Not a great start from him really, I mean he looks lively but there's no end product. Pelle is way off the standard required in the PL as of yet, needs time to adapt perhaps.

Donatello Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Given that we're playing away at Anfield with an unsettled side, I'm happy with the performance. JWP should stay on the pitch for me, since we're going to lack fluency regardless of who comes on (i.e. Long) and his set pieces are perhaps our most dangerous goal threat.

JxgrSaint Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Tadic, Wanyama and Bertrand have really impressed me. That partnership down the left hand side looks like it'll be deadly come the end of the season! JWP excellent from set pieces as per. Think Morgan is not back at his best yet, but I suppose that's to be expected...

madruss Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Pelle will take a while to get going. I remember rickie's game at anfield under adkins, he was woeful. High hopes for pelle yet, but we will need patience (uh-oh)

SaintRobbie Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Koemans tactics are as good as they can be given what he has to work with. I hope the Board realise we still need a solid CB pairing, another striker and winger. That will inform judgment day Krueger. Koeman needs a CB, Striker and a Right Winger. MINIMUM.

buctootim Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Much better in the second 20 minutes than the first. We're getting better. Keep that up on the second half and we'll score.

Stepgar Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 I think we look nervous and a little dis jointed. Hardly surprising though. If we can steer clear of trouble ov the next couple of months I think we will see our best around Xmas and beyond.

Donatello Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 (edited) you our haven't noticed the way Morgan has been spraying the ball about then ? I noticed the way he conceded possession on the half-way line with a short pass, minutes before half-time. Edited 17 August, 2014 by Donatello

Saint Charlie Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Stating the obvious but the difference between Lovren and Yoshida is huge. Can see why we were solid last season, a massive part in coming 8th rather than 14th IMO. Still crazy (IMO) that it took so long to get a centre back in. Even more so that we will only get one to replace Lovren.

Stepgar Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Lovren, is solid. Not really tested though....not yet.

TwoPints Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 I wouldn't change anything just yet. If we're still 1-0 down with 20 minutes to go it would be worth playing two up but until then, if we take a player out of the middle we could get overrun.

Ohio Saint Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 On US TV I understand it's quite at the game, but on US TV, where they greatly turn down the crowd noise in favour of the taters...............The silence is deafening!

Under Weststand Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Definitely some encouraging signs, I thought we grew into it but need some pace to put some pressure on their back four. We look about 2 weeks behind schedule here. Lots of new players new system etc. Patience will be needed over the next couple of weeks.

Turkish Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Niall Quinn saying Schniderlin off the pace and looks like the whole thing is getting to him. No Niall, he's not played a single minute of preseason, thats why he looks off the pace.

GarrettIvo Posted 17 August, 2014 Posted 17 August, 2014 Aussie commentators, Mark Bosnich and Robbie Slater, don't get why we are cheering Lambert and booing Lovren. No surprise as they're both morons.
