If it's any help, to my best memory (17 years exiled) speaking to any number of footy fans of any club is approximately the same as talking on a forum. You can sit in between two fans at a match, and quite easily find yourself seated between two of this forum's finest trolls or two of our most learned historians. Critiques and debate about the tiniest elements of how the club's are run, player motives etc. seem to reach into every pore over there. Supporters there, for some reason have an undue sense of ownership of the clubs, and feel that their voices should be heard even, sometimes before they will lend their undying support.

I wonder why I have not seen the same level of detailed fanaticism in US sports. It probably exists but I was satisfied with my own level of fanaticism.

 

Speaking of which, today's post has led to (by far) my second highest day of page hits ever. Alas, my blog is not monetized.

Redslo, interesting blog post, I think it can summarised as "football fans are fickle". If you've never watched the film, I.D., watch it - there is a piece in it that is referred to a lot about Jerry Edwards. I found a clip, dreadful quality but here you go;
