Redslo Southampton FC blog

I was unable to locate it in the 5 minutes I devoted to the project. I did find this article which is fairly recent and relevant. Perhaps the information is proprietary so journalists can get access to it for articles, but the whole list is not publically available. Or perhaps I just failed in my googling. It is time for bed.

Cheers redslo, good to know you spend time googling Southampton so you can get to sleep at night hahaha.

Interesting stuff, yeah I was quite disappointed I could find it either but agree it's probably proprietary so they won't let the masses know for free.

Cheers redSLO. I think your blog is getting better. I managed to get all the way through that one.

No doubt because I omitted the detailed discussion of weekly salaries at random Portuguese and Dutch clubs and the slapdash discussion of Aston Villa's financial problems.

Many thanks, as ever, for your thought provoking articles. Your piece on Harry Redknapp was ... hard-hitting

The issue had been bothering me for years and his recent rat like behavior just before QPR played us game me a vaguely appropriate reason to write it. Just wait until Jurgen Klinsmann is coaching a Premier League team we are about to play.

I just published "Good Riddance Harry Redknapp."

Really interesting read that one, I never knew he received a cut of all transfers a policy which I suspect has followed him around everywhere except Spurs as Levy does actually have some money management skills.

I'd quite happily allow HR that policy if it swings the other way as well in that he pays 5% on any loss on transfers, bet he wouldn't sign up for that.

Also I'd heard he takes a % of a players wage for playing him or for just buying him, I think that would explain that Portsmouth player (name escapes me) who he has signed like about 4 times and never played.

I do not know if he received a cut of all transfers. It might have been limited to ones where he was responsible for both the purchase and the sale. But that doesn't matter to me because the entire concept is a gross conflict of interest.

Edit: I just found this https://www.westhamtillidie.com/posts/2014/10/02/in-defence-of-harry-redknapp

So he received a bonus for his part in negotiating the sale of Rio Ferdinand to Manchester United. I suppose this is somewhat better than taking a percentage of the profit, but it still doesn't seem right to me.

And this: http://www.socceramerica.com/article/24712/redknapps-disgrace-not-a-shock.html

So now I have to buy and read "Broken Dreams" by Tom Bower. I think I need to get some sleep before today's game instead of haunting the internet.

New domestic TV deal details to be revealed at 5pm today. Sounds like Discovery (who own Eurosport) haven't entered the race in the end, despite many suggestions they would.

I wonder if there will be any surprises. Love something like "Channel 4 has bought the rights to Monday night games" or something of that ilk

The only "surprise" will be the amount paid, I suspect. It'll be Sky and BT divvying it up between them, just depends how desperate Sky are to keep hold of their Super Sunday monopoly.

Anyone else a little embarrassed that one of our most well-balanced, sensible and knowledgeable posters on this forum is an American? I can almost forgive him for not being a sexy lady-lawyer! ;)

I have had to learn to live with that my whole life.

I just posted "Great Moments in Recent Southampton History (Part 12)"

Hi Redslo, what was the thought behind this?

"Financial Fair Play, which many view as a barrier to our further ambitions, actually makes it difficult for most of the clubs in the world to compete with us on transfer fees and salaries even if they have a very rich owner."

That Redcafe thread is bloody hilarious now. So much ignorance.

I thought so too. But it was interesting to read their reactions without the personal emotional distress involved in the similar threads there. I was mainly surprised that many of them assumed the RK was objectively and indisputably a bad manager.

"Financial Fair Play, which many view as a barrier to our further ambitions, actually makes it difficult for most of the clubs in the world to compete with us on transfer fees and salaries even if they have a very rich owner."

I addressed this issue in an earlier blog post.

http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/2015/01/financial-fair-play-friend-or-foe.html

Basically, I concluded that while FFP could limit our ability to compete, it only did so if we have an owner who wanted to spend in excess of 12 or 13 million pounds a year on the team and that the owners of Man City and Chelsea would be willing to spend a lot more than that. On the other hand, it blocked teams with lower income than us from competing with us--even if they picked up a new rich owner.

The new Crystal Palace ownership will be interesting to watch. They are rich. So long as they do not qualify for Europe, they can out spend us by a net of around 27 million pounds a year. Will they do that? We shall see.

I have published a new blog entry. This one is entitled "Concussions and Brain Injuries in Football".

http://redsloscf.blogspot.co.uk/

http://redsloscf.blogspot.com/ OOPS. Meant to post it first time.

Wow ! ....I have to take my hat off to Redslo :toppa: .....who made this final table prediction in August 2014 as post #1 on the thread.

looking at today's table ...with only 8 games left......he has predicted 12 teams EXACTLY correctly.

7 others are +/- one place, and Palace are two places better off than he predicts (the Pardew effect).

I think the top end points tally may be a wide off, but have great admiration for his judgement....hope he bets just as well on match scores.

I just posted "Greg Dyke and His Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Ideas (Part Two)." This post consists of a detailed roster analysis of all 20 clubs in the Premier League to see just how far out of compliance they would be if the new rules were in effect now. Spoiler alert, the Premier League as whole needs at least 49 more home grown players to fill its rosters.
