Wes Tender Posted 11 August, 2014 Share Posted 11 August, 2014 Morgan's teddy has just knocked Haley's comet out of orbit. Can't see him playing for Saints again. Watching Arsenal yesterday there's a holding midfielder role to fill and that look like a more natural home for him ( cash + players preferably). Dealing with Spurs ( ....Levy)is painful and is best avoided. Why? What's Morgan done now?

Saint George Posted 11 August, 2014 Share Posted 11 August, 2014 I guess we should all be looking on the bright side...If this bunch of ****wits had been running the Club a year or so ago, none of our players would have signed contract extensions and would all been leaving on free's or substantially reduced rates. At least we won't even have to worry about that next year when a sizable chunk of our first team leave for nothing at the end of their loan deals. I have heard that Pochettino was going in Jan and let his favourites know it was time to move on. They made a pact that whoever went first the others would be fine about it. In the event all except MS and possibly JR have gone (not sure he was one). No wonder MS was blocked. It sounds that that the offers were all set up before the end of the season. What a corrupt league it is.
Professor Posted 11 August, 2014 Share Posted 11 August, 2014 2 players on loan? So far of course, but this is only 0.2 of a player off of 20% of the team..... One more on loan and we'll be up to 27% of the team, or in imperial, over a quarter!

It sounds that that the offers were all set up before the end of the season. What a corrupt league it is. I've heard the same story. Allegedly the only thing which would have kept Pochettino happy, and then the others would have stayed, was to be given an almost limitless budget to spend on players he thought would boost the team. That was never going to happen as that was what Cortese wanted and he had then already been discarded!!

There's also a good chance on current form we'll end up with more loans in before the end of the transfer window. Wes Tender Posted 11 August, 2014 Share Posted 11 August, 2014 Clearly going to get his move. Fines and poor atmosphere, this is the reason we gave for selling others. Personally I think he's worth towards 30m, brilliant player, but imagine Saints would take 20-22m, and that's exactly what will happen on deadline day. Even if he did play I wouldn't expect him to be in top form or it be great for team spirit. I would be on the club's back if they caved in and accepted £20/£22 million for him. It would be a travesty and Krueger's head would be on the block if he let him go for such an amount having declared that he was not for sale at any price. If you think that he's worth about £30 million, like me, why would the club even consider accepting up to a third less? In my opinion, he's certainly worth more than Lallana was for a start. And we shouldn't sell him to Spurs whatever happens. I'm coming around to believing that he will realise that he is on a hiding to nothing until at least the January window and that he will buckle down and get on with it. Having decided that, it isn't in his interests to sulk and not give of his best, especially if he wants to play for France in the Euros.

I don't see why that would be difficult for us to do, as I don't recall many saying that because of his behaviour he can go and do one. There has been quite a bit of sympathy that apart from Lambert, he was more deserving than others of a decent career move, given his excellent contribution since he arrived here and came on the journey back up through the divisions and last season back in the PL. There might be support for the club's position that he isn't for sale, but that reflects that we would prefer him to stay and give us at least until next January, if not another complete season. He was our player of the season and the players' player of the season, so I'm content that we would support him if he stayed and buckled down. Lord Duckhunter Posted 12 August, 2014 Share Posted 12 August, 2014 **** me, you lot are a forgiving bunch. Bloke doesn't want to play for the club I love despite signing a good contract last year. So what if his mates have left, didums. He hasn't prepared for the season properly and therefore has put pressure on the new manager when he's facing a difficult start to his saints career. There are ways of behaving and professional standards and behaving like he has is disgraceful . There are players up and down the country subject to speculation and longing for moves to bigger clubs, but they are getting on with their jobs and putting a shift in for their present employers and supporters. The bloke should have played a part sat as it was the last game before an important season starts. He needs to get on with what he's paid to do and be professional for a few weeks before I'll "forgive" him.

So while I agree with your sentiments, the actions of many of the players this summer, has refocused my view on football players in general. We had a good run, better than many/most other clubs where the same core stuck together on the way up. Some might have been lulled into thinking that we had something special and that the players wanted to stay at the club that we love for sentimental reasons. Certainly the extending of contracts would point towards this, but the scales have well and truly fallen from my eyes and clear vision has been restored. That he and others have acted in the way that they have is (now for me) to be expected in this day and age of football. It is sad that so many people hold football players up as role models, because the whole of the PL is based pretty much on greed. Players (and I know that this is a generalisation) seem to live in some bubble detached from the rest of the world and think that they can behave how they want, when they want. That to me is why they think that they can jump ship as and when they want. Admittedly clubs, or in this instance, SFC, acquiescing to other moves paints a picture that anyone can do it. However, misconstruing a mutual decision as some for of right is a bit naive on the player's/agent's behalf.
