Morgan's head gone- Update: It has been re-attached

Morgan's teddy has just knocked Haley's comet out of orbit. Can't see him playing for Saints again. Watching Arsenal yesterday there's a holding midfielder role to fill and that look like a more natural home for him ( cash + players preferably).

Dealing with Spurs ( ....Levy)is painful and is best avoided.

Why? What's Morgan done now?

I guess we should all be looking on the bright side...If this bunch of ****wits had been running the Club a year or so ago, none of our players would have signed contract extensions and would all been leaving on free's or substantially reduced rates.

At least we won't even have to worry about that next year when a sizable chunk of our first team leave for nothing at the end of their loan deals.

2 players on loan?

I have heard that Pochettino was going in Jan and let his favourites know it was time to move on. They made a pact that whoever went first the others would be fine about it. In the event all except MS and possibly JR have gone (not sure he was one). No wonder MS was blocked. It sounds that that the offers were all set up before the end of the season. What a corrupt league it is.

I've heard the same story. Allegedly the only thing which would have kept Pochettino happy, and then the others would have stayed, was to be given an almost limitless budget to spend on players he thought would boost the team. That was never going to happen as that was what Cortese wanted and he had then already been discarded!!

So far of course, but this is only 0.2 of a player off of 20% of the team..... One more on loan and we'll be up to 27% of the team, or in imperial, over a quarter!

It's 2 out of 11 and only one of them is likely to be first choice. Not a sizeable chunk in my world.

Try cutting your income by 20% and see how that feels! But Saint George was making a debating point and it clearly hit a nerve, as well as being quite amusing......

Time for everyone to get behind the guy. He needs all the encouragement and support possible having decided to fall into line as Koeman requested. We definitely need him in the squad for Liverpool, although our hand has surely been strengthened by Clattenberg being the ref for the match.

Professor - you ought to change your handle, because you don't come across as one!

2 loans in our SQUAD. A squad of around 22 so less than 10% and yet you try and spin it that our team is made up of cast offs/loans.

Truly pathetic.....plus the 2 loans we have, we have the option to buy.

Why, does Clattenburg hate Liverpool?

Where is your source that Morgan has confirmed he is going to knuckle down and play for us? Turning up for training isn't automatically a sign that all is well

Ryan Bertrand is a first team starter for sure and Saphir Taider will almost certainly be there or there abouts. There's also a good chance on current form we'll end up with more loans in before the end of the transfer window.

The option to buy means **** all if they end up like a huge chunk of our 2013 squad and not wanting to have any part in the 2014 version of Southampton Football Club........I wouldn't work for a bunch of idiots and wouldn't expect anyone else too.

It seems like Ronald Koeman, his brother and dozens of other people are though.

Would you class an idiot as somebody with English as their native language but doesn't know the difference between to and too?

Actually, the way the sentence is written either "to" or "too" works. But using both would have been better as in "wouldn't expect anyone else to too."

Good article. Worth a read.

£30k a week. Morgan should get on with it. Still think he'll never play for us again though. If he does though, it would be a remarkable piece of management by Koeman.

If he gets fined two weeks wages per fixture, he'll soon be paying another player's wages out of his own money. Could save us millions.

I thought one of his reasons for leaving was that he was on less than £15k as I read on here. I can't see him going to Spurs. Our players only want to go to a CL team or at least 'one of the biggest clubs in the world'.

Schneiderlin does need to sort himself out, he'll look back on his career in years to come and realise that having worked that hard to get picked for France he could have thrown it all away quite easily all due to his own attitude.

Excellent.

Although if he does refuse to play, even for one game, will we as a fanbase be able to forgive him?

I'd forgive him. He has been a fantastic player for us. He has seen half the team sold, I'd be ****ed off too.

EDIT: The post looks a lot ruder when p 1 5 5 gets converted to ****. Wouldn't it make sense to leave the p in there?

Clearly going to get his move. Fines and poor atmosphere, this is the reason we gave for selling others. Personally I think he's worth towards 30m, brilliant player, but imagine Saints would take 20-22m, and that's exactly what will happen on deadline day.

Even if he did play I wouldn't expect him to be in top form or it be great for team spirit.

I would be on the club's back if they caved in and accepted £20/£22 million for him. It would be a travesty and Krueger's head would be on the block if he let him go for such an amount having declared that he was not for sale at any price. If you think that he's worth about £30 million, like me, why would the club even consider accepting up to a third less? In my opinion, he's certainly worth more than Lallana was for a start. And we shouldn't sell him to Spurs whatever happens.

I'm coming around to believing that he will realise that he is on a hiding to nothing until at least the January window and that he will buckle down and get on with it. Having decided that, it isn't in his interests to sulk and not give of his best, especially if he wants to play for France in the Euros.

If he trains and plays, I hope we all forgive him immediately, back him heartily, get the best out of him, praise Koeman for his man management and cheer the whole team on, what is the point of a grudge? That is what he is doing now. If he gets over it, so must we, immediately.

It says IF HE REFUSES. He trained today. This article is just more sh*te stirring to help Spurs get their man to our detriment

Jeremy Wilson is a Saints fan, Art, so doubtful that he is sh*te stirring. I thought it was quite a positive article in that Koeman is taking such a strong stance. Hopefully Morgan accepts the clubs position and we can move on.

Isn't this the same article as that posted on the existing MS thread. I take everything Wilson says about Saints with a tiny pinch of salt - isn't he a Saints fan? But anyway, stretching the truth to say that Saints have warned him about his career with France - that is all just speculation from Wilson himself.

I don't see why that would be difficult for us to do, as I don't recall many saying that because of his behaviour he can go and do one. There has been quite a bit of sympathy that apart from Lambert, he was more deserving than others of a decent career move, given his excellent contribution since he arrived here and came on the journey back up through the divisions and last season back in the PL. There might be support for the club's position that he isn't for sale, but that reflects that we would prefer him to stay and give us at least until next January, if not another complete season. He was our player of the season and the players' player of the season, so I'm content that we would support him if he stayed and buckled down.

I'm pleased to hear that as I feel Morgan has to be left now to get back into being a Saint again. All the repetitive going over of it all just makes it harder for him and for the club.

As Wes says, I too will be unforgiving if the club back down and cave in. This is what the club ought to have done from the start with the lot of them.

**** me, you lot are a forgiving bunch. Bloke doesn't want to play for the club I love despite signing a good contract last year. So what if his mates have left, didums. He hasn't prepared for the season properly and therefore has put pressure on the new manager when he's facing a difficult start to his saints career. There are ways of behaving and professional standards and behaving like he has is disgraceful . There are players up and down the country subject to speculation and longing for moves to bigger clubs, but they are getting on with their jobs and putting a shift in for their present employers and supporters. The bloke should have played a part sat as it was the last game before an important season starts. He needs to get on with what he's paid to do and be professional for a few weeks before I'll "forgive" him.

Forgiveness rather depends what you expect from the players in the first place. So while I agree with your sentiments, the actions of many of the players this summer, has refocused my view on football players in general. We had a good run, better than many/most other clubs where the same core stuck together on the way up. Some might have been lulled into thinking that we had something special and that the players wanted to stay at the club that we love for sentimental reasons. Certainly the extending of contracts would point towards this, but the scales have well and truly fallen from my eyes and clear vision has been restored.

That he and others have acted in the way that they have is (now for me) to be expected in this day and age of football. It is sad that so many people hold football players up as role models, because the whole of the PL is based pretty much on greed. Players (and I know that this is a generalisation) seem to live in some bubble detached from the rest of the world and think that they can behave how they want, when they want. That to me is why they think that they can jump ship as and when they want. Admittedly clubs, or in this instance, SFC, acquiescing to other moves paints a picture that anyone can do it. However, misconstruing a mutual decision as some for of right is a bit naive on the player's/agent's behalf.
