revolution saint Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 There's no way he will leave, as if he did, the club would have made one of the worlds great former players look an absolute prize prat. I cannot see someone as staunch and direct as Koeman taking too kindly to being made to look like a fool... That's why it cannot happen now. The repercussions are much more than us just losing a player. There are ways to make an excuse round selling Morgan, and even if there weren't annoying the fanbase for a moment would probably only be a short term problem. Besides which, if this forum is representative of the fanbase, then some leaked rumours painting Morgan in a bad light would soon change opinion. Fans are pretty fickle and very willing to believe anything that is negative towards the club. As for annoying Koeman - I'm sure they'd live with that, or promise him the funds in the next window. As an aside I love how people think they "know" players or managers just from what they see or hear in interviews. Anyway, not really having a pop at you S-Clarke - just the trend for people to see something an interview that they want to see. As an example I'm sure someone commented yesterday that when talking about the Italian winger we're linked with Koeman had a "twinkle in his eye". Talk about clutching at straws but that's not too far away from assuming that Koeman is direct and staunch based on a few bland interviews.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 Does it matter? Yes it does when you're calling someone a liar.
Halo Stickman Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 I’m thinking about an Italian winger right at this very moment.
Saints foreva Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 Well it would be nice if he removed that tweet and apologized to the fans who have supported him these last 6 years.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 Well it would be nice if he removed that tweet and apologized to the fans who have supported him these last 6 years. He may not know how to do that. And to be fair his tweet was at his treatment by the club, not the fans.
derry Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 Yes it does when you're calling someone a liar. Nobody was lying. It was a difference of opinion over who said what. I'm not even sure what happened was Sibley said it before the match and Koeman after.
Grey Crab Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 We will sign someone before the transfer deadline. Don't ask me how I know. (If we don't sign anyone it isn't because I didn't know (I do know), it will be because the deal fell through.)

BlakeySFC Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 Think Koeman's unfollowed all our players on twitter, seems odd.
Colinjb Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 Think Koeman's unfollowed all our players on twitter, seems odd. Considering how he was jumped on by the media for posting a picture of a training pitch it seems perfectly sensible that he would scale back his activity on there.
waylander Posted 29 August, 2014 Posted 29 August, 2014 Spurs just signed a French DM and its not Morgan. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28992064

Dan Johnson Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Has his photo always been absent from the squad list? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/team/ Photo is of players in the new kit, I suspect he just hasn't had his taken yet
SaintRobbie Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Morgans first attempt to show how much he loves the fans? Frankly, he's as bad as Lallana. Might have taken longer but he (& another club) will have done our Boardroom like kippers if he leaves. I don't expect a compensating fee. Still, hoping I'm wrong and he stays a Saint. He won't though.
SaintRobbie Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Has his photo always been absent from the squad list? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/team/ His heads gone!
Viking Saint Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Koeman - none of them leaving. apart from Taider then???
Dr Who? Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 His heads gone! Ha ha ha ha! Why has he not had a photo done? Away on World Cup duty?
SaintRobbie Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Ha ha ha ha! Why has he not had a photo done? Away on World Cup duty? Same reason Forster, Long et al aren't on there either I suspect.
SuperSAINT Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Tony Husband @TonyHusbandBBC #saintsfc @SchneiderlinMo4 gave a gracious and considered iv, apologised if he upset some fans, now focused on remainder of his contract.

Great to hear! For those that were there, how did he celebrate his goals?
FairWeather Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 "I'm committed to Southampton" - in his own words. Get in.
jasonb Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Excellent interview which had me smiling from ear to ear during his little recount of the last few weeks. An apology to the fans and a renewed commitment to the cause. Whatever his future holds no one can say he hasn't acted with true professionalism (that tweet apart). I hold him in the greatest of regard and more so following that honest interview. Wonderful to hear Morgan referring to the privileged position footballers find themselves in relation to others less fortunate around the world. A lesson I wish others would heed. Perhaps a cynic will argue he is saying all the right things and I do still believe Morgan will play for a top 4 side in the very near future. However, he is a great guy and is still ours so fully expect a storming season from him. Koeman must be delighted with Morgan's reaction.
Saint Charlie Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Great. Nothing more could have been asked of him. He is playing well and fronted it up. He is never going to say that he never wanted to leave because he obviously did and probably deep down still does. But it was a great interview I thought and very professional. Its in his interests to play well this season, and it benefits us. Lets just enjoy him for one more season. Top player.
70's Mike Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 i am struggling to believe that any saints fan will think it is anything but good, strange OP

DrunkenSaint Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Down to the board to keep their promise, i hope Corky gets a new contract soon, played well when he came on again!
Millbrook Saint Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Good man. Needs a good chant next home game Do we have any of those then
View From The Top Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Down to the board to keep their promise, i hope Corky gets a new contract soon, played well when he came on again! So the player himself saying he's not going isn't enough?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 I think a deal has been struck and he will stay until next summer. Anyone know when his contract runs out?

aintforever Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Hats off to Koeman, Kruger and co for digging their heals in. Just goes to show that you don't have to sell players just because a bigger club comes in for them.

jasonb Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Morgan, you're such a wild thing You make my heart sing You are my everything Morgan Schneiderlin. Has to be something from La Marseillaise surely ?? Its a great rousing tune and obviously should be appreciated by our Frenchy midfield maestro ! To Arms Citizens!! Form Your battalions... Saint Rees Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Morgan Schneiderlin, tra la la la la, Morgan Schneiderlin, traaa la la la la la, Morgan Schneiderlin tra la la la la Sung before but a fair bit today at west ham - to the tune of brown girl in the ring only a bit faster
BadgerBadger Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 Well done son - considering it's not his first language it was an excellent and honest interview, welcome back Morgan albeit for the next 12 months I suspect
CB Fry Posted 30 August, 2014 Posted 30 August, 2014 I think a deal has been struck and he will stay until next summer. Anyone know when his contract runs out? Probably. If it's good enough for Alex Ferguson and Christiano Ronaldo then I think we should honour that without dins on here getting all upset. He doesn't owe us anything, that's for sure.
